Can you read and write your mother tongue?
How about your kids? Can they?

### 5/5 — Addictive learning app

*2026-08-31*

It’s very intuitive and easy to use. I got hooked on to it tracing the letters is like art, you don’t feel like you are learning something hard. The games are so fun! Super amazed by hand writing coach feature that exactly guides the right direction of strokes. The pronunciation and reading is on point.

### 5/5 — Keeping Regional Languages Alive, One Family at a Time

*2026-08-30*

I’ve been using COOLPHABETS and it genuinely deserves a 5-star rating. It is simple and intuitive enough for children to use on their own, while also being engaging for adults and families.

What I particularly liked is the **Family feature**, which makes learning a shared experience. Parents can teach their children their mother tongue using their own voice, making the learning personal and meaningful. The built-in word games add another layer of fun whether learning together as a family or practising independently.

The offline mode is another great feature, allowing learning anywhere, even without an internet connection. With its focus on **reading, writing, speaking and learning**, COOLPHABETS goes beyond being just another language-learning app.

Another thing I really appreciate is its **privacy-first approach**. The app does not collect personal data and respects the privacy of its users, which is especially reassuring when children are using it.

I think it is especially valuable for families living away from their native place, including NRIs, who want their children to stay connected to their mother tongue and cultural roots. It can also be very useful for **non-native learners who move to another region for work or other reasons**, helping them learn and communicate in the local language in a simple and enjoyable way.

I can also see grandparents having a wonderful role here teaching grandchildren words and expressions in their own voice and turning language learning into a fun way of bonding across generations.

A thoughtful, practical and genuinely meaningful app for keeping languages and family connections alive.

### 5/5 — Great app and super intuitive!

*2026-05-20*

This app has been so useful in learning letters in Telegu. Although it’s tailored for parents and their kids, I have found it so fun and useful as an adult too! The metrics are useful and I like how it makes you do the trace drawing and free drawing for each letter multiple times. It automatically grades the letter drawing for you which is super cool to see. Definitely get this app if you and/or your kids are learning how to read/write any major Indian languages!

### 1.2.18 — 2026-08-01

What's new in 1.2.18

 - Tamil now speaks with a better voice for letters
  - Hindi/Marathi letters + all barakhadi combos upgraded to a better voice
  - Backwards letters score consistently — a reversed letter used to show 0% or 60% depending on how it confused the AI; now it always
grades as the intended letter with the 60% cap, and coaching targets the direction habit instead of saying "wrong letter."
  - Steadier scores — shaky-hand penalties now follow the difficulty mode (Gentle forgives, Strict doesn't), and Accuracy can never
show the AI's recognition confidence as 100%.
  - Handwriting scoring on for all languages — no longer experimental.
  - Parent report: "One habit to fix" card — when one habit (backwards strokes, wrong order, incomplete letters, shaky hand) spans 3+
letters, the report says it once with evidence instead of a dozen per-letter complaints; letter pages cross-reference it.
  - "How the hand moved" — the report notices when the pen keeps stopping mid-stroke (usually before curves).
  - Simpler difficulty — parents pick just Gentle or Strict.
  - Fixes — launch crash (over-nested practice screen), Kannada trace videos (ರ + consonant tails), activity-tracking race, reinstall
data loss, Apple-ID reset edge case.
