### 2/5 — Technically Yes*

*2022-04-17, version 1.0.45.24*

*But in all practical use, do not use this for what it’s intended for. You need to know the MAXIMUM transfer rate from your device to this HDD is ONLY 5MB/s. I’ll be done camping before a single video is copied. How retarded.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with USB C

*2019-04-21, version 1.0.17.0*

I bought this drive months ago to work with my new iPad Pro. Didn’t work when I first bought it, so I waited on the upcoming software releases that would allow it to work with USB C, BUT NONE HAVE WORKED. If someone has some trick, please share. Love having a 400$ unusable piece of equipment 🙃

**Developer response:** Hello itsbeccer ,

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work With iPad Pro

*2019-04-09, version 1.0.11.14*

LaCie says their drive and app works with iPad Pro but not if you are using the latest iOS version 12.2. This makes the DJI Copilot drive useless to me. Apparently it used to work but if their developers can’t make it work 4 months after an update then they are probably not that committed to the product. I’ve bought tons of LaCie drives over the years but made a big mistake with this one. Save your money.

**Developer response:** Hello dgrumme,
There is an update available to resolve this new issue. Please check the link below to the article explaining how to proceed:

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work after update

*2019-04-07, version 1.0.11.14*

It now longer works on my usb-c 2018 IPad Pro after the 12.2 IOS update. It worked fine prior to the update. This is was the point in needing this hard drive.

### 1/5 — Terrible app and terrible product

*2019-01-12, version 1.0.9.0*

Worked for a while but now is really acting up right before a big trip. Battery life is terrible and drive also doesn’t work anymore with LR Mobile. Support on LaCie website is pretty much useless, and of course you can’t reach a real person. I hate this thing.

### 1/5 — No iPad Pro 2018 support

*2018-12-14, version 1.0.7.0*

Not sure what to say, just still not working

### 1/5 — Impossible to connect to iPad Pro 2018

*2018-11-11, version 1.0.5.2*

Hello I’m able to connect the hard drive to my MacBook Pro, and to my iPhone X,

But
There is no way to make it work on the new iPad Pro 2018, please help

### 1/5 — Another Poor Lacie Product

*2018-09-07, version 1.0.3.2*

Expected the device to work with the DJI SSD, never worked as advertised. Video playback is very slow and hard drive isn’t always recognized. Definitely going back to the store...

**Developer response:** Hi Chris,

We apologize for the issue you are experiencing. We have fixed the issue in a firmware update. The fix also addressed other bugs that may be related to the problems you are seeing. Please ensure to update your device and if the problem persists, please contact our support team using the link below:

### 1/5 — Sadly this is going back...

*2018-08-03, version 1.0.3.2*

The software works fine... the hardware will unload an SD card just fine. However, the promo video was what sole me and many other Inspire 2 owners on this device. It showed the DJI SSD reader plugged into the BOSS USB port so you could transfer video from the SSD reader to the Drive. No one has been able to make this work that I know of.

**Developer response:** Hi Drew,

We apologize for the issue you are experiencing. We have fixed the issue in a firmware update. Please ensure to update your device and if the problem persists, please contact our support team using the link below:

### 1/5 — Disk no longer connects to Mac

*2023-09-10*

At first the hard disk was working but now that I have over 1Tb of files it no longer connects to a Mac. Support guidance indicates this happens if the disk is in battery mode but on reality it happens even with power applied which is how I use it anyway. Now I have to use the iPhone cable to select files and airdrop them to my Mac pc before the drive completely stops working. What a mistake buying this product.

### 1/5 — Garbage App for a Garbage Product

*2021-11-19, version 1.0.45.24*

Just bought this yesterday. It would not connect to my phone after properly following the instructions in the manual. I attemped it on a different phone, still no connections. I have inserted my sd card, waited 30 minutes white it was „searching” for if. Steer clear from the product this app is designed for.

### 1/5 — Sometime it works

*2021-11-14, version 1.0.45.24*

Need firmware update! Sometime my apple iPad/phone works! Firmware is trash! I wish I could get refund!

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2020-02-18, version 1.0.34.3*

Buggy at best, when is the update ?

### 1/5 — Incessant crashes

*2019-06-20, version 1.0.19.10*

App is useless for browsing, copying or sending images due to constant crashes. All DJI firmware, software and iOS are current as of this writing.

### 1/5 — Dji

*2019-06-13, version 1.0.19.10*

Me also i try too much but nothing !!!!

### 1/5 — Will not connect to iPhone

*2019-06-08, version 1.0.19.10*

With the phone connected to the copilot boss, I get the messages set clock and connect app on the copilot.
The copilot does not connect to the iPhone.
How do I set the clock? What is the fix?

### 1/5 — App has never connected to IPhone X

*2019-05-16, version 1.0.18.9*

I’ve never once successfully connected the pilot to my iPhone app. I would try updating the firmware but i can’t find any literature online on how to do that without the app that I can’t get to work.

I’ve submitted tickets but still can’t get any help with this issue. I’ve read through the other reviews and apparently I’m not the only person with this issue.

I’m dissatisfied with this product, definitely a let down from DJI.

**Developer response:** Hello Everynicknameistaken,

### 1/5 — 파일 전송시 앱이 닫힙니다.

*2019-05-12, version 1.0.18.9*

### 1/5 — No Disk

*2019-04-26, version 1.0.17.0*

Internal drive doesn’t mount

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — No longer a Worthless piece of junk.

*2020-01-30, version 1.0.31.9*

Won’t connect to the app on iphone7plus. I bought it specifically to back up photos from phone. Worked exactly ONE time. Spent three hours on Seagate/Lacie tech support yesterday and got absolutely no help. Tech person was clueless. She scheduled a tech appt with a specialist for this morning. They didn’t keep appt. I called them, they said I need to be ready to take their call anytime in the next 24 hours. So I’m supposed to skip work and also not use my phone for 24 hours....and stay up all night? I bet they never call. This think is expensive for a one-use item.

UPDATE: I called Seagate Lacie back and explained the situation again. I was connected with someone on their escalation team. She verified that the unit was defective. They sent a prepaid label for its return. Will recover my data send that to me on an external hard drive and also send a replacement Copilot BOSS. Perfect!

### 5/5 — Super functional and easy! Tech savvy score!

*2019-11-27, version 1.0.29.1*

Easy to use and all the functions I need to browse, view, prune, re-arrange, transfer, backup and duplicate - to and from USB (a&c) SD, internal & ext HDs, phones, tablets etc.. all the extensive app features are laid out where they make sense...

It turned on and worked. iPhone connected and immediately prompted a direct link to the app download. Immediately viewed and transferred 4k videos to and from USB and SD drive with no playback delay or jitter whatsoever (due to the direct connection, I assume)

Case build is dynamite...it’s a little heavy, but not very.... power and drive capacity visible on the front face is a great feature as well. Charges through the phone data cable as well as the female USB ports. You can sense the attention to detail in the design aspects. It’s addressed several pesky holes in the new market successfully.

Looking forward to inserting this into my workflow for multiple uses.

### 5/5 — Great handy device to have in the field

*2019-04-21, version 1.0.17.0*

I do not know what I would do about this now file transfers from my camera on my drone is simple reviewing on my iPad or iPhone works perfectly strongly recommend if your photographer to purchase this

**Developer response:** Thank you, James! Our developers will be happy to hear about your feedback.

Kind regards,
LaCie Support

### 5/5 — Works great

*2018-12-23, version 1.0.9.0*

So i bought this product around September it worked great was able to connect to my iPhone and iPad then the device wouldn’t connect and i tried to google the problem and even emailed tech support, they were not helpful at all seems they didn’t understand my problem. It connected before but now it wasn’t connecting and it was showing me it was charging when it wasn’t plugged, to fix it i used a small paper clip to press the reset button next to the USB slot and it fixed the issue I’m able to connect to the it again and it didn’t restart my hard drive so no worries hope i can help someone cause i know for sure tech support is not gonna help at all.

### 4/5 — Great Concept Needs Improvement

*2019-10-29, version 1.0.26.4*

Needs to add a recycle bin feature to prevent accidental deletion. The drives internal software is a little buggy.

### 4/5 — Almost Boss!

*2019-09-03, version 1.0.22.13*

Excellent features, but it won’t play back my DJI 4K video! Like owning a Corvette that will only go 58 mph!

### 4/5 — Almost there...

*2019-01-23, version 1.0.9.0*

First...this is as far as I know STILL the only external storage that works with the USB-C iPad Pro connector. It required a firmware update from a lightning iPad and power cycle first, but it works. I can plug my transcend Jump Drive Go 500 into the USB connector and access the files on it...but only from the app.

Trying to access the same files directly from the iOS files app integration reports that I am offline [I am] and that it cannot access the files/folders. WHY?!? If I wanted to be online to access files I would have stuck with the Raspberry Pi file server I setup [powered by the iPad and connected via wifi]. I was specifically looking for a wired connection for transferring multi-gig audio and video files from my Zooms and GoPros for editing. So close...it is doable and I appreciate that it is...but it is still requiring extra/unnecessary steps. Not sure if this is an Apple or DJI limitation/issue but its super annoying.

### 4/5 — Features?

*2018-06-14, version 1.0.2.1*

Will I be able to trim video through the app?

### 3/5 — Needs iTunes purchased movie support

*2021-07-11, version 1.0.45.24*

Would love to be able to transfer my iTunes movies on this thing and delete it off the internal memory we really need this upgrade

### 3/5 — TOO LARGE of an App

*2020-05-31, version 1.0.39.5*

This thing is KILLING my iPad Pro with over 60gb for the app. I thought the point was to SAVE iPad storage? Maybe I’m doing something wrong but it’s taking A LOT of real estate
