I use it with most of my oil paintings that are done inside my studio. I use this app with a smaller iPad, when traveling. I can move to different sections of the photo to see details. It could be user error but not seeing it.... ### 1/5 — Disappointed would give no stars if I could *2019-03-19* I upgraded from Copy It Classic. Although the older version is quite basic, I much prefer the Classic and wish I hadn’t bothered wasting my money. Too much time is wasted faffing and resizing the picture once its loaded, then I have to do the same with the grid size as for some reason it doesn’t seem to stay the same size from picture to picture which is really frustrating. Too many buttons around the edges which are too small to see properly. Not impressed. Having tried to persevere with this, thinking my initial review was a little unfair, I stand by my first thoughts. This is terrible and still oh so frustrating to try and use!! I’ve reverted back to the classic version! **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback. This is partly why I initially created different versions of CopyIt - to suit different tastes and for those that did not require the latest devices or features. Find a way to get back Value Viewer. ### 1/5 — Broken app is a project wrecking waste of time and money *2018-04-15* Everything works great at first when you load it and start working, but once you take a break after several hours of meticulous, careful work and close the app, you’re doomed. When you reopen the app, the view either sticks in vertical and refuses to flip to horizontal, or if it does flip to vertical, it completely resizes the grid and shifts the alignment, and nothing you can do can get it to go back like it was. It’s a scrambled, glitchy mess. That means that your work is ruined, because you can’t reestablish your reference points, and you have to throw out your freaking canvas and start the ^>¥{¥,!~*] over. I feel like I’m going to vomit. This company has wasted my time, materials and money, and if they know that their junk app is broken and they continue to charge $10, then they’re running a scam, plain and simple. Do not buy this app until the people behind it acknowledge and fix their seriously flawed (read: utterly defective) product. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback, but to be fair, I replied to your email within an hour. As discussed in reply to your support email, please try loading your project in the same orientation that it was created in for it to display as expected. There are many reasons as to why the display does not rotate as explained in the CopyIt User Reference Guide within the app and on the support website. When you are zoomed in or the Lock button is enabled, CopyIt will not rotate when you rotate your device. This is by design, so you can move your device around while working without the display accidentally rotating on you. To have CopyIt rotate once again, you must be zoomed out at x1 and make sure the toolbars are Unlocked. I am sorry you experienced such frustration and that you felt you needed to start over, but I would have been happy to help you and get this sorted for you if you had of given me a chance to. I want my customers to be happy with my products, so please feel free to contact me if you require any further assistance. I love the color selector. In some of my paintings, the little crevices make it difficult to see the dark colors in the shadows. The movement of the shadows helps me select the dark colors and the depth of the shades. I have found this app great so far and think it is well worth the investment. My recommendations would be for different ratios to be made available or a grid option of standard canvas sizes to use in cropping and then creating a grid for an image. Being able to enlarge each section of an image is great! Also, more detailed instructions would be helpful. I use it with most of my oil paintings that are done inside my studio. I use this app with a smaller iPad, with Velcro attached to the back of the iPad . I can place the iPad on top of the easel with the other side of velcro. I can move to different sections of the photo to see details. I think it’s one of the best apps for artists! Update: I’ve been using this app for several years ago! I get my perspective, color values, etc. I share this app to my artist friends. It doesn’t matter where your skill level is, this app can help you. I tell them to play with the app and get familiar with the different ways you can use for your art. I have lots of photos on my iPad and this app has enabled me to make accurate enlarged drawings of them. There’s an onion skin mode and you can can posterize the image which I then put through a projector to break down the image for creating under paintings either in mono or original colour ! If there would be one thing that I could say to improve would be to be powered by metal for faster speed and give more photo shop like posterize to give further definition with the different colour groups but very good app ! You pop in a picture from photos etc. then can see it as black and white, Notran or other formats / levels of grey scale. The grids allow precise copying or guidelines and the colour picker is almost as good as real paint pro. Get that as well and your up and running with creating great paintings. You’ll need paints and brushes and canvases too of course.
