### 4/5 — Pretty Good Synth App

*2019-02-21, version 1.3*

Bought the full version. Lots of cool features. But it would be cool if you could work on the delayed sound problem. When I touch a key it takes a second before any sound happens and when I play a different key, I have to wait until it starts again. When this happens, I can’t keep a good rhythm going. Please fix this and the app will be perfect.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect basic synth

*2018-12-02, version 1.3*

Just missing pulse width setting for square wave, everything else is there.

### 2/5 — I couldn't get any sound

*2016-01-29, version 1.2*

I have my iphone at max vol but no sound. I don't know if they expect me to pay for it to make sound but I ain't buying anything till I know how it sounds. Too bad too cause this looked kinda neat.

### 4/5 — Review

*2015-10-05, version 1.2*

This synth is fun and has some great sounds. It's only the lack of a recording function that gives it 4 out of 5 stars.

### 4/5 — A New Path - Venturesome Fun

*2015-02-22, version 1.2*

As a classical pianist and jammin synthesist, this iOS app enthralls me as its takes "Core Audio", the professional quality of OS power, and audio frameworks come to life for a plethora of sounds. What is cool here is a solid foundation building on a vision.

What's unfortunate is that it crashes iOS 8.1.3 in an iPad 2, while 2 dozen+ other synth apps don't. The other eye opener is the classic "freemium" model. One can make sounds and play midi input with the free version (only available one), but has to pay a $0.99 "pro fee" to get to what others rave about and anyone would want to use.

These two items made me turn off iPhone apps on my iPad (still sold and supported for iOS 8). It also made me wary of what it might do to my iPhone. I don't want to use a review as a bug report, but encourage the creative and earnest developers to ensure it's a hit everywhere so music apps like this thrive and inspire more. Take advantage of buffer sharing and connecting apps, like AudioCopy.

Looking forward! Four stars to 5.

### 4/5 — AWESOME!!!!!!

*2012-01-20, version 1.1*

I played tom sawyer on this and it sounded awesome!!!!!! eccept the ads are soo annoying. but still, AWESOME!!!

### 2/5 — Remove adds from the keys

*2011-11-25, version 1.1*

You know, placing adds on working zone (keys) is mean.
I like the sound but I was annoyed by this outrageous thing...

### 4/5 — Fun game!!!!!!!!!!!! Or app whatever you call it.

*2011-11-17, version 1.1*

Very fun!!!!!!!great sound!

### 4/5 — Great free synth!

*2011-11-07, version 1.1*

Not a mind blowing app, but a surprisingly deep synth for free. Puts my real korg monotron to shame. Well it would if it could filter other sounds somehow... Anyway great monophonic synth. Yes, it can only play one sound at a time. It's supposed to be like an old analog synthesizer. Sounds very good

### 3/5 — could be better

*2011-09-16, version 1.0*

the limited amount of notes to play hindered the potential

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2011-08-30, version 1.0*

You can make some cool stuff with stuff with this app. Maybe a recording feature with multiple tracks? If that was in the full version I'd upgrade.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Uh. Latency and loud clicks

*2019-10-18, version 1.3*

Would work great if the audio clicking wasn’t there. just need something simple to do sub synth live at a youth event. Full version worth .99 but nothing more

### 1/5 — Dumb and wasteful

*2019-05-01, version 1.3*

Makes a noise. That’s it. No midi out or in probably. Not even wasting a joke on this.

### 1/5 — Terrible latency issues

*2015-03-20, version 1.2*

Takes at least a second to respond, if it responds at all. Could be a decent app if not for this glaring flaw.

### 1/5 — Does not respond immediately!

*2014-06-15, version 1.2*

When I push the keys it does not respond immediately VERY ANNOYING!!!! Please fix the issue!!

### 1/5 — Lame

*2012-07-18, version 1.1*

Lame

### 1/5 — Lame monophonic let down

*2012-04-15, version 1.1*

Such a pathetic lite version. Lame lame lame

### 1/5 — Mobilesynth is better

*2011-11-17, version 1.1*

An FREE app called mobilesynth is BETTER THAN THE FULL VERSION OF THIS APP! Someone called ken jeffords reviewned here before, saying about mobilesynth. I have it, ITS FREE, AND ITS NOT A LITE VERSION OR A DEMO, AND IT DONT HAVE ADS. GET MOBILESYNTH INSTEAD!

### 1/5 — not impressed... more ads, less function

*2011-11-10, version 1.1*

I watched a little ad banner float through the app while i tried to test it. Seems as though unless you buy the 'real deal' it doesn't do much other than let you click a few keys on the keyboard. *shrug*

### 1/5 — Free version is junk

*2011-11-08, version 1.1*

Don't waste your time with the free version. Sounds like a child's toy and can only play one note at a time. No way I'm paying to try the full version.

### 1/5 — Problem loading

*2011-11-04, version 1.1*

I don't know why but mine goes into the first screen then exits out right away.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple & Effective

*2021-07-23, version 1.3*

Core Synth does what it promises and reasonably over delivers. Great LFO, resolution, punch and arpeggio. Holds its own in probably most every context. When I get a little sketch in my head, I can punch it out in CS, rig the lightning port of my iPhones and connect to a laptop and enable it as an input in Audio/MIDI Set-up, choose that input from Ableton Live, play out the phrase and loop it or if I’ve made a righteous patch just sample the base note and compose in DAW.

### 5/5 — I made this in to a tornado siren

*2020-12-07, version 1.3*

I used a wireless speaker

### 5/5 — I love it!!!!!

*2014-05-15, version 1.2*

Please don't ever change it but leave this like this forever. It's the best thing to use. I love this app. Just leave this the way it is do not upgrade this app. It is beautiful.

### 5/5 — It's alright to kill time

*2013-06-28, version 1.2*

The app. Is lil more then I expected on which u can turn the dials up or down or add and decrease the frequency tone for the synthetic sound . But couldn't put it back to its original sound .

### 5/5 — Really Good

*2012-06-05, version 1.1*

Pretty much everything I need, except it would be good to be able to have glide options (off, on, portamento). Really enjoyed the octave selection system as well. Good job.

### 5/5 — Impressive...

*2011-11-12, version 1.1*

Acts a lot like the Freeware VSTi plugins I use. Yes, it can only play 1 note at a time , but that is what a monophonic synth is, which is what it says it is in the description.

The two oscillators have nice square, saw, and triangle patterns. I also love being able to bend the pitch with different keys on the board. The filter works well enough. There are two envelopes, one for the oscillators, and one for cutoff. Both were easy to use, and effective.

While it would have been nice to have an LFO, you get what you pay for, I guess. Definitely worth a look!

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2011-10-20, version 1.0*

Great app for free. Thanks dev :)

### 5/5 — I

*2011-08-29, version 1.0*

Love this app

### 5/5 — Cool

*2011-08-20, version 1.0*

Nice app

### 5/5 — Better Than Paid Apps!

*2011-08-10, version 1.0*

I can't believe that this is a free lite app! So many features and good quality, even better than some paid apps!
