I love the time forward/back feature. It’s useful for tracking and the planets, seeing where you are relative to the ecliptic, and a host of other stuff I haven’t quite figured out. Really cool app that’s thought out and visually appealing. ### 5/5 — I am learning the Equatorial coordinate systems. *2024-03-20* I find this amazing mobile app, "Cosmic Watch" that show in 3D, exactly what we see in the sky when we use the Equatorial coordinate system. Make me for the first time, understand the system. The app work way better on a big tablet, to see the stars and sky details more clearly. Screw you *2026-09-03, version 3.0* I paid for this already, why are you making me pay again?! ### 1/5 — Confusing App *2018-08-21, version 2.0.2 (20180523.2)* I purchased this app and I find it very difficult to properly use. I like the concept. Better user testing before releases might have exposed some of what I write here. The tutorials are not in sync with the new 2.0.2 version on my iPad. The music is a feature that needs an off option. The website help for version 2.0.2 is not helpful. Consider a single tutorial per feature and verify what icons relate to what the screen displays. I prefer instructions be written and not spoken. Currently, I feel I wasted my money. For example, if I'm in "Astronomy Mode" with "Constellations OFF" I want them to stay OFF next time I come back to "Astronomy Mode" from "Minimal Mode." Unfortunately, they don't. So when I want to switch modes, I lose all my settings, effectively making it impossible to go from one mode to another peacefully, and comparatively, because there is a pause while I have to reset all the different parameters all over again... and again... and AGAIN... and AGAIN... and AGAIN. Another example: the awful, pulsing target for your location. That horrible thing takes up at least 20% of the diameter of the globe. And it won't stop PULSING. Our brains have to look at movement so I can't focus on anything else. If I move the location to somewhere like near the North Pole, other things get thrown off (like the time). May I suggest that they use a SMALL, pale blue dot to show where you are. The Living Earth app does that, and the pale blue dot is visible in clouds, in the day, and on the night side, all the time. I like to cycle through a dozen locations around the earth, and the pale blue dot shows up in all those locations under all circumstances. That app serves a different purpose than this one, but they both have a globe, and both try to show location. The pulsing GIGANTIC annoying HUGE set of TARGET circles in this app is the worst possible choice. I CAN'T enjoy the app when my eyes are forced back to that thing every second. I'll add back the missing stars if they remove the self-sabotaging aspects. However, if they don't change it, I'll have to leave this at one star, because I can't use my $5 purchase in a way that is anything but immensely frustrating. I know there are apps out there that have a more responsive and smoother feel to the panning and zooming. The notification bar is also annoying and in the way. Also my location seems to randomly change. Glad you guys don't make apps for drones. For example, if you turn off orbits and do fast forward they return when you speed up to 1 day/second. Not only does that seem unnecessary in itself, you have to go back to options to turn them off again. I cannot express how deeply I appreciate the developer’s work. I am hoping to include some of their displays in my upcoming film about eclipses which they kindly have allowed me to do. Now I just need to get on with that work as I’ve been documenting these eclipse now for 25 years and as “my life’s work” it would be silly to abandon the journey here just at the end. If you haven’t already purchase this app do so immediately!
