## What is CoughWise?

CoughWise records your night on your iPhone and lets you hear it back. It counts possible cough-like sounds, and separately it ranks the night's own moments — so even a night that counted nothing still hands you something worth listening to.

WHAT YOU GET IN THE MORNING
• The whole night on a sound timeline, playable end to end and scrubbable to any point
• A count of possible cough-like sounds, with a per-hour lane drawn under the same chart
• Bursts, not just totals: coughs arrive in runs, and the report says how many runs held them
• The moments that stood furthest above the room, ranked against each other and never counted as coughs — press play and judge each one yourself
• Tap 'Not a cough' on a burst: the night recalculates on the spot and the list re-ranks
• A plain-language morning report written on your iPhone, with the numbers it used shown beside it

ABOUT THE COUNT, PLAINLY
CoughWise counts possible cough-like sounds. It may miss some and may count other sounds. This is an estimate for awareness, not a measurement or medical assessment. That sentence is on the morning report itself, not only on this page.

NIGHTS THAT DID NOT GO TO PLAN
A night that ended early is labelled partial. A night CoughWise could not analyse says exactly that, and shows no score, no count and no all-clear — because "there is no record of this night" and "this night was quiet" are not the same fact, and only one of them has been measured. The home-screen widget publishes nothing it cannot speak for, and clears rather than leaving yesterday's number under today's date.

AND THE NIGHT ITSELF IS HARD TO LOSE
The recording is written to disk as it goes and picked up again on the next launch, so a crash, a phone call, a flat battery or a full disk costs you the rest of the night rather than all of it. Nights you star are never removed by the automatic clean-up.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Recording, playback, analysis, corrections, reminders, profiles and exports all run on this iPhone. Audio is never uploaded. There is no CoughWise account to create, no analytics or advertising SDK, and no tracking identifier. Purchases are handled by Apple. Delete a single night, or erase everything, in More.

Recording every night, the whole-night timeline, the ranked moments, corrections, your morning report and your seven recent nights are free and stay free. One purchase keeps the rest of your history and its playable audio, longer views of your own nights, extra sleeper profiles, and export of your own data as PDF and CSV. The purchase screen stops claiming a problem it has not had yet.

Opening Premium used to draw "Purchase options didn't load" on its very first frame — before the App Store had answered — with no unlock button beside it. It now says that it is checking, keeps the unlock button on screen while it checks, and asks again by itself a few times before it is willing to call anything a failure.

Nothing about the price changed: one payment, no trial, no renewal, nothing to cancel.

CoughWise now gives you the night itself, not only a number.

Every recording plays back end to end on a sound timeline. And separately from the count, there is a ranked shortlist of the moments that stood furthest above the room — built from the night's own scores rather than from a cutoff, so a night that counted nothing still gives you something to listen to. Nothing in that list is counted as a cough, and the app says so where the list sits.

The count stays, and so does the sentence that belongs with it: CoughWise counts possible cough-like sounds, it may miss some and may count other sounds, and it is an estimate for awareness rather than a measurement or a medical assessment.

Nights that did not go to plan are now told apart from quiet ones. A night CoughWise could not analyse shows no score, no count and no all-clear instead of a confident zero, and the home-screen widget publishes nothing it cannot speak for. A night is also much harder to lose: the recording is written as it goes and recovered after a crash, a call, a flat battery or a full disk, and starred nights are never swept away.

Premium is now a single one-time purchase instead of a plan — no trial, no renewal, nothing to cancel. If you already subscribed, you keep your access.
