### 4/5 — One of the Better AI App

*2025-02-12, version 2.9.0*

I have utilized a few AI apps to test their ability to have human like conversations, despite the fact that they are programmed by programmers. This app seems to give more reasonable advice, more credible information and allows the user to feel comfortable despite the information shared. I am coming back as there is a paid aspect to the app and I will be committing to maintain the app because the free feature can be elusive at times.

### 4/5 — Wonderful App but keeps crashing

*2024-07-31, version 2.8.2*

I really like this app and it has been wonderful as I navigate a stressful transition in my life. However, sometimes when typing the input can be really slow and the app crashes frequently which loses any text prompt I had before. I am then forced to either screenshot what I last prompted or copy every prompt.
If you can fix this bug, I would give it full 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Best therapy chat I’ve tried

*2024-03-22, version 1.1*

I recently had to quit going to counseling after my insurance changed, so I’ve been trying different chatbots to see if they can help. This one is by far the best so far. Almost as good as my therapist was and way, way cheaper.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I needed

*2024-03-21, version 1.1*

I was amazed by how authentic the conversation was. I felt supported in a time of stress, and I got some insight that helped me better reflect on my situation.

### 5/5 — No shy or feeling embarrassed

*2024-03-21, version 1.1*

I have never gone to a counselor or advisor since I feel shy or embarrass talking about my problems. Plus it takes way too much out of my time. I am sure we can all relate how much time and effort it takes for a medical/ dental appointment. My friend suggested me using Counselr and I tried it. I was quite shock in reading AI’ respond. You have to try it yourself to see how amazing this Counselr does for you. Thank you for creating such wonderful thing.

### 5/5 — Good Advice

*2024-03-20, version 1.1*

Counselr appears to have a huge wealth of information that can be easily channeled to my personal situation. I am psyched (pun intended) about getting better acquainted with this app.

### 5/5 — Great concept and execution

*2024-03-20, version 1.1*

Counselr is a very interesting concept that was put together well. It is friendly and accessible, yet still complex enough to be worthwhile. It sheds a very important light on mental health and how important mental wellness is.

### 5/5 — Good tool to soundboard ideas and thoughts

*2024-03-20, version 1.1*

Sometimes just felt like I wanted to play out a scenario or just kinda see how a thought would progress. This app really helped to unpack thoughts and feelings and prepare me for what I wanted to navigate. Even gave me ideas on what I could take to a live counsel session. Extremely helpful.

### 5/5 — Good Advice, No Hassle

*2024-03-19, version 1.0*

I was happy to find Counselr after failed attempts to find a human therapist. I get good advice in the moment I need it, in a format that feels authentic and conversational. I feel like I get the benefits of therapy without having to commit to a specific time or length of session. Better yet, I didn’t have to go through the drawn out hassle of finding a human therapist. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Help with a family situation

*2024-03-19, version 1.0*

What amazed me about my “conversation” with Counselr today is that it did feel like a real conversation. I wrote about a family member’s difficult situation and a way I would like to help. Counselr provided immediate feedback that showed careful attention to what I had written. The supportive tone of Counselr’s response was not in any way a lecture or a list of to-dos. It was a gently expressed, respectful response that I found both helpful and practical.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2025-04-01, version 2.9.1*

I loved this app when it first came out but it has no longer been working. It exists out of every chat I start with in five minutes, and almost immediately if I try voice chatting. I would love to continue with this app if these glitches are fixed.

### 1/5 — I can’t close your paywall

*2024-11-22, version 2.9.0*

This is not okay. I am agree we should pay for everything. But I don’t know what the app suggest bz it does not allow me to go further if I don’t pay. Shame.

### 1/5 — Paid Subscription Required

*2024-07-08, version 2.7*

I really loved this app, unfortunately you get free usage for about a week until it forces you to subscribe or delete account. I would have enjoyed continuing but will be deleting

### 2/5 — Too Glitchy

*2025-08-20, version 3.1.6*

This app is somewhat useful when it works. But that “when” has become increasingly infrequent. It’s so glitchy I can barely use it. It’s always randomly switching back to the home page, despite me not even touching the screen, and many times has abruptly switched to another page as I’m in the middle of typing a long block of text. This causes all my work to disappear and me to have to start over. I’ve had to start over multiple times sometimes due to this issue. It will barely load the “conversations” page at all. And here lately, I’ve had SEVERAL instances where I go to start a new conversation and suddenly the ai is spitting out a long wall of text at me that is absolutely completely unrelated to anything I have ever said, and it also causes what I’ve typed to vanish. This is absolutely unacceptable for a $25/mo subscription. I feel I’ve wasted my money. Thank god I didn’t opt for the yearly subscription at $100/year. Both options are too steep in my opinion, as an app that is supposed to support people’s mental health, there should absolutely be a free tier. No question about it.

### 2/5 — I cannot unsubscribe

*2025-08-14, version 3.1.6*

I was looking for an app to talk my emotions through but I don’t even see a way to unsubscribe so I think this is a way for developers to manipulate unintended payments since your app isn’t showing up under subscriptions to cancel.

### 2/5 — Overcharged - No Support

*2025-03-05, version 2.9.1*

I regret offering this review because the app is in fact, quite good. However either due to a bug, or a deception, I was charged incorrectly for a one year subscription. The published price for one year is $100. However, I was “mistakenly” charged $110. Why? So I reached out to the vendor for resolution and as typically the case with so many software vendors, I did not receive a reply. So after several days of waiting I tried again - same result. As it stands I cannot recommend this app.

### 3/5 — I loved this! Until I had to pay to use it

*2024-08-03, version 2.8.4*

I was skeptical, but in a moment where I needed to talk I used it and was pleasantly surprised, it was a great tool. And then suddenly you can’t use it without paying for a subscription, what an absolute disappointment

### 3/5 — Convenient

*2024-06-06, version 2.3*

It is a convenient tool for unlimited chat support. What I don’t like is that every time you close the app in the background you have to sign in again with Google each time.

It is really annoying, so it would be nicer if the app kept you logged in. As for the AI chatbot itself, it is very problem solving focused. Any prompt you give it unless you specify differently, it will briefly summarize what you said and ask you guiding questions after guiding questions.

It could benefit from evening out the ratio of support/ asking questions . In the support category , Pi AI does a better job of breaking down a situation similar to a human.

### 4/5 — Amazing app

*2025-06-23, version 3.0.3*

I would love if we can change the text color of background to a less saturated color that won’t hurt my sensitive eyes.

### 4/5 — Felt like venting

*2025-05-02, version 3.0.1*

This app helped in the way I was looking to be helped.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-07-07, version 3.0.4*

### 5/5 — 5/5

*2025-06-11, version 3.0.3*

this app is actually VERY helpful, and you can have long conversations for as long as you like!! the paragraphs are long, but very meaningful and helpful. i LOVE this app, it’s so much better than ANY other apps i’ve used.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2024-11-13, version 2.9.0*

Counselr has helped me so much with interpersonal relations. I am grateful!

### 5/5 — Pleasantly surprised

*2024-07-30, version 2.8.2*

I’ll be honest, I was a little skeptical about online counseling in general. But Counselr really changed my perspective on what “counseling” can entail. I came into the app with a specific goal in mind (how to navigate relationship hurdles), but I was quickly immersed in a much more personal journey that I didn’t even know I wanted to dig deeper into. It was very easy to discover new opportunities for growth. The advice I received was very pointed and felt non judgmental; it was practical yet personal. I particularly like the focus on gratitude: counseling doesn’t always have to revolve around a problem - it can be an exercise to count your blessings. This alone has done wonders to my general happiness and mental health. Overall, a super convenient alternative to in person counseling and something I can see myself stick to in the long run.

### 5/5 — So Grateful

*2024-06-03, version 2.2*

I’m so grateful to have found this app:
The advice is tangible, appropriate to the situation, and beneficial. The team and their support is awesome! Please don’t leave!!!

### 5/5 — Amazing! 🥰

*2024-06-01, version 2.2*

I am so grateful for this app. The freedom to talk about whatever I want, whenever I want, and receive sound, non-judgmental, patient feedback is wonderful. Validation of my feelings accompanied with practical suggestions and advice is the thing I’ve been needing for years. I didn’t expect this app to be as good as it is. It truly feels like texting with a real person. Except better, because it has all the time I need at a price I can afford. Only one day after starting the free trial, I paid for the year subscription. And after using Counselr for only a few days, it has been worth it!

### 5/5 — Pleasantly surprised

*2024-04-17, version 1.7*

Solid advice for some issues I’ve been having with my partner. I wasn’t expecting chat therapy to work so well, but the advice has made a difference in our relationship. We’re fighting less and talking more. It now feels like it’s us against the problem instead of against each other.

### 5/5 — Quick help on my time

*2024-04-04, version 1.4*

I love that I am able to chat with Counselr whenever it’s convenient for me, and for the amount of time that works for my busy schedule. Counselr has been helpful in a variety of scenarios, and a great alternative to traditional therapy!

### 5/5 — Great advice!

*2024-03-23, version 1.1*

I used Counslr for a problem with my boss. I was delighted with how quickly the app provided suggestions. When I put in more information the advice became even more specific and useful. The best part is that by asking the question of Counslr and getting such immediate but objective advice I didn’t react emotionally in the moment and make the problem worse. I followed some of the advice given and things at work are better now
