### 2/5 — Not impressed.

*2026-07-29, version 7.9.21*

This was initially a very useful app. However, after a while of using it, it would randomly restart my kicks. I’d be in the middle of a kick count, open my phone and all the progress would be gone. This is obviously upsetting as it supposed to help you track different things.

### 3/5 — Loses track

*2026-07-01, version 7.9.19*

The app is easy to use, but the kick counter timer keeps restarting on its own, which causes me to lose track of my baby’s kicks. It makes it difficult to complete an accurate kick count.

### 3/5 — Glitchy

*2026-06-29, version 7.9.19*

Love this app and it’s so easy to use but I’ve had a couple times now where I get to the end of counting my baby’s kicks and it doesn’t let me save! So then I have to start over.

### 2/5 — 2.5 stars needs work

*2026-04-26, version 7.9.15*

It doesn’t save session history which is a huge reason why someone would want an app like this. I also don’t like that you need my zip code to allow me to use the app I don’t feel comfortable with that. It should be an option to not put that. I’d rather just set a timer on my phone and jot down tally marks on a notepad. The general kick count button is a cool simple feature I think is great but the app needs work.

### 3/5 — Notification Spam

*2026-04-06, version 7.9.11*

I have had this app spam my notifications three times now. It will go all the way to 100 notifications within the span of seconds. First I thought maybe it was a mistake, then it happened a second time, and now with the third time I figured I would leave a review so the developers were aware. Otherwise, the app is fine.

### 2/5 — Not user friendly

*2026-03-19, version 7.9.11*

Want to be able to track anytime the baby kicks, not trying to count 10 times in one session. Also not keen on having to speak to end sessions/give feedback on strength or type of movement. I have a busy job and can’t pull out my phone and say “finish session” in the middle of a meeting

### 3/5 — doesn’t show history

*2026-03-16, version 7.9.11*

doesn’t show me all my kick sessions

### 4/5 — I love this app, but I think there’s some misinformation on it.

*2026-02-27, version 7.9.11*

This is my second pregnancy and I have been using this app to count kicks literally every day. I have so much more peace of mind about my baby’s movements.

The one thing I want to say, is take things you see on ALL pregnancy apps with a grain of salt and talk to your doctor. I’ve seen a pop up recently telling women to not have any cold drinks to get the baby moving. However, a lot of doctors (mine included) actually recommend that as a first step before going to L&D. I wouldn’t want anyone to be dissuaded from something that might be helpful for them.

### 2/5 — Infantile design, acceptable function

*2025-12-31, version 7.9.11*

Ridiculously childish UX, borderline insulting. Loses sessions. You can’t get rid of the annoying “ask Ana” decal that is huge and always in the way. Why is there a “personified” help function anyway? Again, this is infantilizing. The only reason I’m using this stupid interface is bc it works on Apple Watch. We will see how well. Hopefully I can find something less annoying to use and look at

### 2/5 — Don’t like that you can’t end session before 10 kicks

*2025-10-12, version 7.9.7*

Sometimes I get 8 or 9 which is fine. My doctor recommends 6 in an hour. I have so many unfinished sessions that I can’t save anywhere. Should be able to end whenever.

### 4/5 — Needs to stay on

*2025-07-31, version 7.9.0*

Easy to use app but frustrating when screen keeps turning off. Should add a setting that keeps screen on when counting. Just like recipe webpages having “cook mode”, this app should have “count mode”.

### 4/5 — NO ADS! Functional but occasionally frustrating

*2025-07-09, version 7.9.0*

I had a whole review typed here but the App Store deleted it as I was finishing it up and I have to re-type it (app store get it together lol) but essentially this app does its job and without ads. It has these pop-ups occasionally that are a little annoying to have to close out especially as I’m using it for the second time with my second pregnancy and I truly don’t need the facts it’s trying to show me. I wish there was an option to turn off the hints or facts as they are truly unnecessary. Also, the dark-mode is unusable as if you try to type out text in it, the text isn’t adjusted and is still dark and doesn’t show up at all over the dark mode. So there’s essentially no point in using the dark mode. Also the size of the font is really small for the contraction timer, and it can be kinda confusing or hard to read. But I must say the fact that this app has no ads makes me prefer it over the most popular and most reviewed “contraction timer” app, as that app literally has a whole ad take over your whole screen every 4 marked contractions and it deletes the intensity level of the last contraction marked. Not to mention that app already runs ads at the bottom of the screen that I sometimes accidentally click bc they deliberately design the app to have the contraction button right above it. I feel far too annoyed and enraged at the other app and the audacity of who runs it knowing so many people use it and get no barfed by ads so I prefer this one!

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2025-07-01*

It does its job for the most part in terms of counting the kicks, but not without unnecessary and annoying pop-ups. When trying to use the contraction timer, far too often it gives me an obnoxious pop-up about a “fact” I really am not interested in, seeing as I’m trying to mark a contraction and it’s very frustrating to have to close the pop-up and try to mark a contraction. The contraction counter also doesn’t make much sense and is more frustrating than it is convenient to use. It also doesn’t keep counting outside of the app, so I end up losing track of the contraction as a whole if I have to check a separate app or respond to a text during the contraction. I’ve also had moments where I thought I ended the contraction only to find it’s been timing for the last 5 minutes. I’ve just downloaded a separate app at this point for the contractions. I truly do not recommend using this one for the contractions. Also the “dark mode” for the kick counter makes it impossible to read the notes that are put in. Pregnancy can be very frustrating at times, especially when concerned about kicks or having a contraction, and having to navigate an app that shouldn’t be this annoying really does not help.

**Developer response:** Hello. We appreciate your feedback about the Count the Kicks app and the contraction timer. We are always looking for ways to improve the app, so we thank you for your comments. If there is anything we can troubleshoot with you, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@countthekicks.org. We look forward to hearing from you.

### 3/5 — Pregnancy Brain?

*2025-06-26, version 7.9.0*

Might be pregnancy brain but I was asked to create a pregnancy profile 2x so had data under two different profiles. Deleted one and lost that data so I’m a little frustrated but will review further once I used this app longer. Good ol’ fashioned pen and paper might just have to suffice.

### 4/5 — Really helpful

*2025-06-09, version 7.8.9*

I really like having this app. You can track things for yourself and OB and even share the daily results with your spouse so they can see! I really liked the reminders. Mine haven’t worked for weeks now. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Logging out and in. Restarting my phone. Nothing helps. I have 2 reminders and none of them have worked in weeks so I set an alarm on my phone. Please fix the reminders! Otherwise, love the app and everything it involves. I plan to use it for my contractions as well.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Restarted my tracker after almost 1:20 hrs

*2026-04-19, version 7.9.15*

Very upset because a completely restarted the app and lost my progress. Will not be using this again.

### 1/5 — Requires zip code, ethnicity, and race to sign up

*2026-02-02, version 7.9.11*

No reason this sensitive data is needed to count kicks and unable to bypass or skip it.

### 1/5 — Create account first

*2025-10-14, version 7.9.7*

This is a waste of my time app! Once you open it you can start kick counting, but what it fells to tell you is that if you don’t create an account before hand when you finally do create one, (I created mine when asked after my session, still on the session) you will lose whatever you already logged!!! They say “well because you weren’t logged in, it doesn’t go to your account and we can’t get it back!!” Why even bother than! Way to stress a pregnant women out!

### 1/5 — Works to count, but that’s about it

*2025-08-27, version 7.9.2*

My OBGYN recommended this app for counting my kicks. I’ve added my pregnancy so that I can view the full history of my kick sessions, and I’ve recorded several, but under “Session History” it says, “Nothing Here — It looks like you haven’t recorded any kick counting sessions yet!” Yet when I finish a session, it shows the chart of every session I’ve recorded!

Additionally, when I go to add notes, there is no spelling/grammar check which makes note-taking difficult since I type so quickly.

Update: the app deleted all my previous sessions, so now I’m starting from square one again.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t record sessions

*2025-07-24, version 7.9.0*

Once you finish a session it does not record it in session history and there is not button to finalize a session you have to use voice activation but even then it does not record the session.

### 1/5 — App just erased all of my previous sessions

*2025-07-16, version 7.9.0*

Software was a mistake. Do yourself a favor and just write down on a pad of paper when you feel your kicks. Can’t access my previous sessions and there’s no way to contact customer support; they only have a chatbot AI to “talk” to. 0/5 stars

### 1/5 — Hasnt tracked anything so disappointing

*2025-06-14, version 7.9.0*

I’ve been tracking the kids twice a day for two weeks now and it hasn’t tracked anything. It tells me nothing is there even though I made an account and I’m logged in.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-05-01, version 7.8.9*

I would start a count, then it disappears after a few kick counts

### 1/5 — No history

*2025-03-31, version 7.8.8*

I’ve had the app for over a month and have never been able to view my history. It always says “we cannot seem to find anything right now. Please come check back again later.”
Still no history coming up.

### 1/5 — Made an account but it doesn’t save my session

*2025-02-11, version 3.8.6*
