## Newest reviews (13 of 103)

### 3/5 — My experience with CountAbout

*2025-02-08, version 10.2*

I would say that after 8 months of us it’s just average, it’s an OK aggregator when the backend synchronization process works, I do most of my real reports and budget tracking in Excel after downloading the transaction
Support is mediocre at best and most of the time you need to find your own answer

### 3/5 — Good program but useless app

*2025-02-02, version 10.2*

I’ve relied on CountAbout for several years. It does everything I need and is cloud-based. Perfect. Plus the developer of this small company is very responsive whenever glitches or bugs arise.

However the app itself is nothing more than a bookmark to the website. The app has no specific functionality whatsoever.

### 4/5 — Good basic financial tool with some glitches

*2025-01-07, version 10.2*

Somewhat difficult to use on phone. Support is helpful

### 3/5 — Account Linking issues

*2024-10-05, version 10.2*

I am a Canadian customer who switched from Mint. I found CA to be extremely capable and reasonably priced but, after a year of trying, could not overcome the account linking challenges. US customers may have a much better experience. I am in the process of switching to Simplifi and am still having difficultly updating and account on CA that Simplifi cannot link to. It would typically take me up to 1/2 hour to ‘fix’ all the accounts that would not link before I could start using the program.

### 4/5 — Replaced Quicken after 35 years!

*2024-09-29, version 10.2*

Finally got fed up with the escalating price increase of Quicken and went looking for a more affordable option that still gives me transaction downloads. (And all of my years of Quicken data imported simply and cleanly.) CountAbout does that with full SaaS/cloud access via the web and a mobile app! You do give up traditional bank account reconciliation, but they have a helpful reconciliation summary in the upper right hand corner. Finally, it does NOT play nice with the Apple Card. I am continually having to "fix access", plus the transactions don't download even when it appears it is "fixed".

### 3/5 — App a challenge

*2024-09-28, version 10.2*

First I have to type my password in every time to login. Face ID does not seem to be enabled. In addition the biometrics they ask you to enable never works. Please fix these so I can continue to use and pay for the app.

### 4/5 — Perfect for business expense tracking

*2024-09-12, version 10.2*

Simple platform that helps me keep track of all my business expenses. I’d like a little bit more customization and features, but it gets the job done!

### 5/5 — Converted from Quicken, THANKFULLY!

*2024-08-15, version 10.2*

With the many bugs and ever increasing subscription cost of Quicken, I have searched for a long time for a replacement that suited my needs. I finally found CountAbout and while not perfect (what is?), it is darn close. It synchs with my chosen banks and accounts smoothly, something Quicken would not always do, and I was able to import my QIF files in minutes and accurately. I am able to synch across my windows laptop and iPhone and the app works very well. I can enter transactions manually and CountAbout does a great job matching them when doing a later download. The price is fair and as long as they keep it that way, I am delighted.

### 3/5 — Wish I could link my bank account!

*2024-07-17, version 10.2*

There’s plenty to like about this app—being able to import Quicken info when switching over, having all of your financial info at your fingertips, and an intuitive arrangement of the app—but if you can’t download information from your financial institution, it’s useless. Support is lacking. It’s been about 10 days since I first contacted them about the problem. They responded right away, but since the initial attempt to fix it—nothing. To add insult, I received an email today offering a discount (good for 3 days only) on the premium subscription which allows downloading from my bank. I would gladly PAY for this option. I’m trying to be patient, but they are not impressing this new customer!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-06-11, version 10.2*

Very easy to use, great product for a great price!

### 5/5 — Countabout

*2024-06-02, version 10.2*

I was a intuit mint user for many years until recently. I switched to countabout because of its simplicity and pricing which is very reasonable.
I highly recommend it!

### 4/5 — Thanks for listening

*2024-05-02, version 10.0*

I wrote a bad review when the update came out. In this latest update you have fixed many of the issues. So happy because I was not looking forward to finding something new. Thanks again for listening!

### 2/5 — Charging money

*2024-04-21, version 9.9*

As surprised to notice this week that countabout requires now a subscription model.
No support for Apple Pay.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Risky

*2026-01-17, version 10.2*

I tried to sign up for this app with an email that I use regularly. They gave me a message telling me to use a different email because their verification process had determined that my email was risky. I decided that their app is risky and deleted it.

### 1/5 — Hello….is there anybody out there…

*2025-03-24, version 10.2*

I have sent 3 messages to Countabout about this, but no matter what password you attempt with signup, you get rejected for it being ‘a common password.’ Except every attempt was by my password manager and it is using a 50-character randomly generated password that is just a bunch of random letters, numbers, symbols and caps. I really want to try this as my Quicken subscription ends today and I would really like to not have to pay for it again.

### 1/5 — Won’t accept any password for signup

*2025-03-14, version 10.2*

I sent a message to Countabout a few days ago but have had no response. Maybe a low review that I’m willing to change might get some attention. But no matter what password you attempt with signup, you get rejected for it being ‘a common password.’ Except every attempt was by my password manager and it is using a 50-character randomly generated password that is just a bunch of random letters, numbers, symbols and caps. I really want to try this as my Quicken subscription ends in a few days and I would really like to not have to pay for it again.

### 1/5 — Cannot log in

*2024-05-11, version 10.0*

I keep getting ..it wants me to scan a qr code for a passkey?
When I scan it with my android phone, it says no passkeys available.
Plus, I cannot even enter my password, won't let me. Help please

### 1/5 — Update is terrible

*2024-04-26, version 10.0*

You made an app that mirrors the website version. If I had a keyboard and mouse it would work well but it doesn't work well using fingers. I might as well just use the web version.

### 1/5 — PWA is awful

*2024-04-25, version 10.0*

Just cancelled my 8 year run with you. If I wanted to use the awful web version I would use a browser. The app was amazing but sadly no longer.

### 1/5 — Wrong move

*2024-04-24, version 10.0*

Terrible last update, it looks just like a website packed into a small screen.
Bio authentication failing.
Have to login each time opening the app.

### 1/5 — Used to be good

*2024-04-19, version 9.9*

This last update is horrible, I know you’ve tried to simplify the code and all, but it’s unusable on an iPhone. The old layout was way better to view the data.

### 1/5 — Not a good start

*2023-06-23, version 9.8*

I created an account and every time I’d try to go to “transactions” or anything, the program would get stuck on loading for minutes, forcing me to refresh. Doing so would then start me on the home page with their welcome pop up. Running across so many issues starting a program was annoying enough. I can’t imagine how bad it’d be after inputting all my information! I decided to cut my losses.

### 1/5 — Nothing works

*2023-06-20, version 9.8*

Whoever said this works fine, obviously haven’t tried it or is the app owner.
Nothing works, no support at all. I just removed it from the phone, and of course the delete profile button in the web doesn’t work either.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Reasonably priced and adequate for my needs

*2026-04-01, version 10.2*

Works well for downloading transactions and maintaining budget. Support is helpful but only available thru messaging. Unable to speak with anyone directly. Reasonable price but did increase after several years.

### 5/5 — Great cloud tracker

*2025-10-09, version 10.2*

I used to use quicken but wanted online cloud data, web and app access, and this tool does it all. In addition you get very responsive support unlike most software companies !

### 5/5 — Excellent, Easy to Use App

*2025-09-17, version 10.2*

I have been using CountAbout for over 5 years. I use the web-based product on my computers and the iOS version on my iPad and iPhone. They have been incredibly responsive to any questions or concerns, and are constantly improving their iOS products.

### 5/5 — Tracking

*2025-06-06, version 10.2*

I haven’t used a tracking/budgeting app in over a decade but coming up on retirement soon, I need to understand my spending habits. After reading about lots of options, I decided to try CountAbout. The price was right and they seem very concerned about data security and take appropriate measures. I’m 3 weeks into my 45-day trial (another selling point-a long free trial!) and have to say I really like it. It’s simple and easy to manage. Can access on my phone or laptop. Customizable categories and links to all the important accounts to bring in transactions.

### 5/5 — Cheaper than Quicken

*2025-04-05, version 10.2*

Does the job and it is cheaper then quicken. Loging in and out is ok that is the only thing I would improve. Only $9.99 so I am happy.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-02-10, version 10.2*

I have been using the app for a couple weeks and I am very satisfied. I am able to see all of my accounts in one place and can forecast spending to then have a future plan on how to budget!

### 5/5 — Great Replacement for Quicken

*2025-02-05, version 10.2*

When Quicken told me they could no longer support my MacBook Air I set out to find a replacement that I could do online. CountAbout is awesome. I could easily upload my Quicken data and it updates from my bank more seamlessly than with Quicken, and at a better price!

### 5/5 — Great replacement for Mint

*2025-01-26, version 10.2*

When Mint went away, I had to find a replacement. I tried several others but found that CountAbout was the best for me. It does everything I need it to do.

### 5/5 — Great finance app!

*2024-10-23, version 10.2*

I switched from Quicken and Count About is so much better and the price is right!

### 5/5 — Love this app!!!

*2024-10-05, version 10.2*

After actual YEARS of searching, I think I have finally found the perfect budgeting app for me! It is extremely customizable, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, the [optional] subscription is very reasonably priced. Finally, it has worked seamlessly, so far. Any issues I’ve encountered have been easy to figure out. I am thrilled!
