Expensive subscription after 3 day trial. Incredibly hard to set up and understand. It might work for a neurotypical but I was upset within 3 minutes and found it hard to figure out how unsubscribe from free trial. It cost me time when I’m trying to manage time. Asking a high subscription price means the company should be accountable for user interface. I respect its potential for others, but it’s not fair to market to adhd people and then confuse them straight away. Every time i restart, i notice the widget reverts to one of the default countdowns - in my case the progress remaining for the day, rather than my custom set countdown. I have to click the widget - which opens the app - and reselect my custom choice. This is not feasible if i had multiple countdowns configured. It’s enough to stop me upgrading. You can set up countdowns for free but to make it a widget you have to pay. But nowadays even the most basic features are locked behind subscriptions or paywalls. I understand apps have costs, servers, development, maintenance, etc. But at this point, it would honestly feel more transparent to just charge upfront for the app instead of advertising it as "free" and then trapping users once they've already set everything up. I’m not paying £18 to get a widget to be able to see how many days away something is, and just seeing “1 year” is pointless. Perhaps locking some of the designs behind a paywall and not basic functionality would be better. Edit: the response is not true! I redownloaded the app to check and the day counter is locked behind a paywall. I didn’t change anything else. I checked to see what it defaults to for events less than a year away and the format is 11 months 30 days. For over a year it defaults to year and month, but not if the event is in less that 395 days away, where it will just say 1 year. For anyone who just wants a widget to tell them number of days I’d recommend using the shortcut app instead.
