### 4/5 — Solid Journalism

*2026-08-18, version 8.11.0*

The Courier-Journal’s team of excellent reporters keep my wife and I abreast of issues in our community and state.

### 4/5 — Hometown

*2026-08-08, version 8.9.0*

Like it for the hometown news and the obituaries. Wonder why you can not download it out if the country?

### 3/5 — Bugs R Us

*2026-07-30, version 8.11.0*

This app is the way I like to read the CJ. However, recently when I bring up the enewspaper on my iPad, there is an overlay of ads, pictures, QR codes, who knows what all, that appears over the top of the content. It’s as if you printed something on a piece of paper that already had printing on it. Both content and ads are virtually unreadable. If you page over and come back, it might be gone. But that is no guarantee that it won’t be back. In addition, I love doing the crossword puzzles but for many months, “Today’s Crossword” cannot be printed in whole on letter sized paper from the iPad or iPhone. The USA Today puzzle is fine and the Sunday puzzles, though much bigger, are fine. If you try to reduce the size to fit on one sheet, it doesn’t change at all, and never will fit it all on one page. I can print it on one page from my PC but not from my iPad or iPhone, even though I used to be able to do this and can STILL print the USA Today puzzle from there.

### 2/5 — Glitchy

*2026-07-02, version 8.10.2*

Constantly slow it is always trying to switch me to the for you section.

Shame what the parent company has done

### 4/5 — Enough bathroom and gutter ads

*2026-04-30, version 8.8.1*

I know you need ad money but this community must have all the walk-in bath and gutter guards they need. Keep up with the great investigating reporting!

### 4/5 — Great source for local news

*2026-04-10, version 8.9.0*

Sources are wonderland right on point.

### 4/5 — CJ updated app

*2026-03-28, version 8.9.0*

Is unfriendly

### 4/5 — Great “paper”

*2026-03-20, version 8.9.0*

Great local stuff. National predictably after the fact

### 4/5 — Great “paper”

*2026-01-29, version 8.6.0*

Great local stuff. National predictably after the fact

### 2/5 — Louisville CJ

*2026-01-10, version 8.6.0*

I find this version of the CJ very difficult to navigate. I rarely look at it. I get my local news other ways. While I’d like to support a local newspaper, I can’t spare the $25.00/month to get nothing in return.

### 4/5 — Enewspaper

*2026-01-08, version 8.6.0*

Reading online is so convenient. No trash to dispose of, enlarge the print and adjust the lighting as needed. Give it a try!

### 4/5 — Courier Journal

*2025-12-23, version 8.6.0*

I use the C-J everyday to check in on what going on and where.
Would not be without it

### 4/5 — Solid Journalism

*2025-12-12, version 8.6.0*

The Courier-Journal’s team of excellent reporters keep my wife and I abreast of issues in our community and state.

### 4/5 — Old News

*2025-11-30, version 8.6.0*

Most of the news I’ve already heard on TV but I enjoy all the other articles .

### 4/5 — Courier review

*2025-11-25, version 8.6.0*

Happy with the paper covers of variety of things, but it’s but it’s an analysis of daily life in Louisville is very important to me so I know exactly what it’s going on.

### 2/5 — Information priority incorrect

*2025-09-14, version 8.5.0*

I've set my app to notify me about breaking news and subjects I care about, but the only notifications I get are for sports. I've selected topics like traffic, important incidents, and political news—not sports. To most people, sports news isn't considered "breaking news." I only want to be notified about important subjects that are relevant to me, and I can't use an app that constantly sends me sports updates.

### 4/5 — Reading daily

*2025-09-05, version 8.1.0*

Always great to read the CJ. The only complaint is the lack of southern Indiana news and sports

### 4/5 — Stan's easy crossword

*2025-08-14, version 8.1.0*

Please bring back Stan's easy crossword!

### 4/5 — c-j e-paper review

*2025-08-14, version 8.1.0*

I like being able to read the newspaper in its original format online. But lately I have had trouble getting the second crossword to print out after the first one prints easily. You all made improvements a few months ago that made it much easier for me to print both of them out. I don’t know what’s going on now. When I try to select the page after the comics for the second crossword, it gives me the comics page instead. Then, when I get to the correct page, it’s blank, and so I have to zoom in to get the print to show up. Then, when I try to select the crossword print, it only gives me the bottom of the page and I can’t scroll up to reach crossword. Today it even told me that it couldn’t print it out because I was off-line, even though I had just printed the other crossword out right before then. And my computer task bar showed me that I had three bars indicating a strong signal online. Please look into this.

### 4/5 — CJ updated app

*2025-08-09, version 8.1.0*

Is unfriendly

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad app opening

*2026-02-01, version 8.6.0*

On my iPad and iPhone, I have to start it , close it, then restart at least 90% of the time the first time I open it each day! It hasn’t always done this. When will it be fixed?

### 1/5 — Restore purchase doesn’t work

*2026-01-02, version 8.6.0*

I paid for a sub through the app store on my ipad. It won’t let me restore the purchase on my phone.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2025-11-10, version 8.6.0*

What a waste of the Sunday 6/28/2020 paper! In the first section we have seen all the pictures before of the protesters. One statement in the front page says “How a historic month in Louisville has changed the city.” Where’s the change, shootings continue everyday and most of them if not all are black in black shootings. No amount of money given to programs is going to change the systemic problems in these communities unless the people are willing to change It takes a long time to see real change ! Also, in the Scene section today, the story on the front page is old news. I read this story earlier in the week on a news app. People are getting tired of the protester stories taking over the entire paper and news on the TV. There are other stories to report on.

### 1/5 — Not a fan of the new format.

*2025-08-17, version 8.1.0*

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Recently, it’s changed so you can’t read any articles at all when you reach your “free limit” unless you subscribe for 19.95 a month. Absolutely ridiculous. The other local news channels do not charge for their apps, and I get that the CJ has to make their bank somehow, but 19.95/monthly is out of reach for most working class people in the city of Louisville.

### 1/5 — Great… until it it’s not.

*2025-08-01, version 8.1.0*

When this app works, it’s fine. Every few months though it acts like I don’t have a subscription. I am paying for it, but it shuts me out of all the “subscribers only” content. Pretty infuriating. I want to support local media but it’s hard when I feel like it is STEALING my subscription fees.

### 1/5 — Print copy no longer loads on iPad

*2025-07-17, version 8.1.0*

I don’t know what the last update did, but I can no longer load the print copy on my iPad. I sent a message to support but received no reply. I now have to try to read it on my phone, which is very difficult. I was okay with combining the apps for the online site and the e-version of the paper when they did it, no need for two apps when one will do; but one no longer “does.”

### 1/5 — New CJ app

*2025-05-08, version 8.1.0*

For the most part I’m enjoying the new CJ app. However, it sometimes decides to put a thick black line across the bottom of the page, making the amount of text visible much smaller. I generally have to turn my iPad off and back on to get rid of it.

Today, I tried to access the USA News page and not only was that not possible, now I cannot get to the main Editions by State page. I tried rebooting and also signing off and on and all I get is a blank screen with a whirling circle.

### 1/5 — App quit working

*2025-05-08, version 8.1.0*

If you don’t stop the pop ups on this new app, I’m going to cancel my subscription.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-05-07, version 8.1.0*

I have to sign in at least once a week. Often, it won’t take me to my local edition. Very difficult to use. Needs a complete overhaul!

### 1/5 — NOOOOO!

*2025-05-01, version 8.1.0*

This app is not easy!
I can’t find most of my daily reads.
I’m older, and I can handle an app.
But, this app doesn’t contain the same content from the previous one.
I cannot ACCESS ANY
“for subscribers info”
NONE. It keeps saying I don’t have a subscription, but I do!

Obituaries are all mixed up, and no list is given as before. I don’t want to go thru 25 obits, looking at random peoples info.
A list showing who’s newly deceased, age, and if the obit. is given via this newspaper was great!
Where’s my daily word jumble?
Where’s ask Annie?
Where’s the classified section? This was all part of my day!
I will not keep this app subscription as my newspaper.
The past 2 years of chaos, trying to read the paper, maneuver the constant changes, and the despicable customer service I’ve experienced in the past, I’m realizing this may not be worth my money anymore.
I hate losing my newspaper to the face of new technology aimed at weeding out us oldsters! I’ve been a customer who remained loyal for 50 years, now, I feel like I’ve lost an old friend.

NOW THATS A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE YOU SHOULD COVER!
How many older people will drop this paper because of its stripped down content, and its difficulty of maneuverability on this
NEW app?

Inquiring minds
WANT TO KNOW!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great paper

*2026-06-19, version 7.5.1*

Good daily paper

### 5/5 — C J

*2026-01-15, version 8.6.0*

I still prefer the paper version but the eCJ is very easy to read. However, I can’t do the puzzles or crossword.

### 5/5 — Good News

*2025-11-26, version 8.6.0*

A good app for reading the newspaper. A little glitchy at times, but works reasonably well.

### 5/5 — My paper

*2025-11-18, version 8.6.0*

Love the ease of e-paper. No missed editions!

### 5/5 — Reading daily

*2025-11-01, version 8.5.4*

Always great to read the CJ everyday.
Southern Indiana new coverage has increased a little bit. Some reporters still seem to think we don’t exist.
HS sports coverage is still zero except when the Courier carries something from the Indianapolis Star.
Overall stories are great and when you compare it to other papers in the region the CJ is superior.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-06-12, version 8.1.0*

Easy to use - great way to read the Courier Journal!

### 5/5 — Stay Informed

*2025-06-09, version 8.1.0*

I enjoy keeping up with the local and national news each day via the Courier Journal enewspaper.
Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love my CJ

*2025-05-29, version 8.1.0*

I’ve been reading the CJ since I was a small girl. I read the paper with delivery and now throughly enjoy the e- online version. First thing in the AM , coffee, breakfast and the CJ. Catching up on local news and interesting local stories, profiles of Louisvillians and more are the reasons I subscribe.

### 5/5 — Al Wyssbrod

*2025-05-25, version 8.1.0*

Can’t live without it!

### 5/5 — Not always prompt

*2025-05-18, version 8.1.0*

Site does not always come up with the epaper, but works okay mostly. Like many websites you just need patience to find the correct button!
