## What is CourtPon!?

Stop waiting for every court to clear before picking the next group. CourtPon!
decides the next 4 players the moment a single court opens up.
Built for badminton, but it works just as well for any doubles sport that
rotates players through courts — tennis, pickleball, table tennis.

WHY THIS EXISTS
Many badminton clubs wait until every court is free, then draw players for
all courts at once — leaving finished courts empty in the meantime. CourtPon!
lets each court move independently, so nobody's waiting on anybody else.

WHAT IT DOES
• The instant a court opens, get a fair suggestion for who plays next —
  just on that court
• Automatically avoids repeating the same partners and opponents too often
• Balances match counts while also factoring in skill level — pick
Balanced, Fairness first, or Level first in Settings
• Choose a single shared waiting list, or split it per court
• Swap players, pin someone to a court, or reroll a lineup with a couple
  of taps
• A records screen shows who's played with whom, how many times, and how
  even the match counts are
• Players can follow the live court board on their own iPhone or iPad —
a nice-to-have that depends on the venue's Wi-Fi, so don't count on it
every time. They can ask to take a break or rejoin the queue from
their own device, but the host always approves before anything changes
• 1 to 12 courts, and separate rosters for each club you run
• Works on iPhone and iPad; on iPad, arrange the on-screen courts to
  match your gym

PRIVACY
No account required. The only network activity is direct Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
communication between iPhones and iPads in the same room, and only while
you use the "View nearby devices" feature (iOS will ask for Local Network
and Bluetooth permission). Nothing is ever sent to an external server.

Built to be used courtside, in the moment.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9 — 2026-10-31

• "View nearby devices" now uses a new connection method. Unstable connections and "club name appears but courts never show" in the gym should happen much less. Update both the host device and the viewing devices to this version (older versions can't see the new broadcast).
• When sharing or searching isn't working (Local Network permission denied, Wi-Fi off), the screen now says so.
• The screen no longer dims automatically while hosting or viewing.

### 1.8.3 — 2026-10-30

• New Sport setting in Settings (Badminton / Pickleball). With Pickleball, the badminton-only Scoreboard is hidden. Pairings work the same way in every sport.
• In "View nearby devices", you can now see the "next four" on empty courts. After you pick yourself, you see "You're up next!" when you are in them, or your place in line while waiting.
• Fixed a problem where a court could not be started with exactly 4 players waiting after tapping "Try a different pairing".
• When two or more courts are empty and everyone waiting will play, the next fours are now regrouped together, so the four who just finished are less likely to be put back on the same court.
• New matchmaking policy "Variety first": strongly avoids repeating the same people, so fewer players end up never sharing a court.
• Fixed English text issues (singular forms such as "1 times", court names, and the "Relaxed pace" wording).

### 1.8.2 — 2026-10-28

• Dragging a player now makes it clear when you've picked them up: hold the name until it lifts, you feel a short tap (iPhone), and the name under your finger turns blue and larger. Start moving after it turns blue; moving earlier scrolls the screen instead.
• The green "+" badge no longer appears over the drop target while dragging. The target is highlighted by color instead.

### 1.8.1 — 2026-10-26

• Scoreboard: when several devices enter the same rally's point a few seconds apart, it is no longer counted twice. A point for the same side from another device within 5 seconds of the previous point is treated as the same rally. If a tap doesn't go through, the app tells you.

### 1.8 — 2026-10-24

• New "Ignore gender" setting (Settings > Match types). When it's on, any 4 waiting players are matched regardless of the gender mix, so small groups such as 3 men and 1 woman can start.
• You can now swap players in the "next four" shown on an empty court before the game starts: tap a player and choose "Swap with someone…", or drag. A lineup you adjust by hand starts exactly as shown, so you can enter games already in progress when you start using the app mid-session.
• Improved "View nearby devices" so the courts appear reliably after connecting, and the reason is shown when a connection fails.
