## What is Cove Field Guide?

Notice more. Keep a record of the woods.

Cove Field Guide brings together a focused nature guide and a private field journal for North Carolina and Tennessee. It is inspired by the mushrooms, acorns, walnuts, and quiet discoveries that make a walk worth remembering.

EXPLORE THE REGIONAL GUIDE
Browse ten entries covering morels, chanterelles, white and red oaks, black walnut, shagbark hickory, pawpaw, persimmon, blackberry, and red mulberry. Search the guide or filter by category and approximate observation season. Read about habitats, features to observe, dangerous lookalikes, cautions, and cited research sources.

KEEP YOUR OWN FIELD NOTES
Save dates, notes, and up to six photos per observation. Add a current-location pin only when you choose. Link a record to a guide entry for comparison without treating it as a confirmed identification. Search, edit, and delete your observations.

TAKE YOUR FIELDBOOK OUTDOORS
The guide, bundled illustrations, and saved journal work offline. Native controls support larger text. Opening source websites or support email requires an external service; selecting an iCloud-only photo may need a download first.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No account, advertising, analytics, subscription, or in-app purchase. Journal records stay on your iPhone. Saved photo copies have their original embedded metadata removed. Location is optional, with no background tracking or automatic sharing.

LOOK WITH CARE
Realistic guide pictures are clearly labelled AI illustrations. They are not photographs of verified specimens and must not be used for identification. Your journal photos are never sent to an AI service. Cove does not identify photos, certify edibility, or provide preparation instructions. Never eat a mushroom or plant based on this app. Ask a qualified local expert and follow the rules for the land you visit.

Journal data is excluded from device backups and cloud sync. This release has no journal export or recovery service. Removing the app or losing your iPhone can permanently remove your records; keep original photos separately.

Cove is an independent fieldbook and is not affiliated with the National Park Service.
