## What is Coverlet?

Coverlet is eight small logic puzzles a day, and a quilt made out of the ones you finish.

Every board is a piece of cloth with numbers on it, and your job is to work out where the seams go. There is exactly one right answer and it can always be reasoned to, so nothing here is ever a guess. Solve a board and it becomes a block in your quilt, kept for good. Come back tomorrow and add another. After a month it is worth looking at. After a year it is something you could not fake.

EIGHT TECHNIQUES, A NEW BOARD IN EACH EVERY DAY

Patchwork — cut the cloth into numbered rectangles.
Appliqué — leave islands of colour in a connected ground.
Piecing — pair every square into a full set of tiles.
Stitchline — sew one closed loop that obeys every number.
Rosette — split the cloth into pieces that spin onto themselves.
Buttons — sew a button onto every row, column and patch.
Cross-Stitch — count the runs along each row and column until the stitched picture appears.
Gingham — balance light and dark, never three alike in a row, no two rows the same.

Each comes in three weights: Quiet, Steady and Intricate. Everyone in the world gets the same boards on the same day, so a time actually means something.

WHAT IS FREE

Today's board in all eight techniques, every day, for good. Sprint in full — three minutes, as many little boards as you can clear. The first five boards of every pack. Two fabrics, your whole quilt, your streak and Game Center. None of that expires or asks you for money later.

WHAT COSTS SOMETHING

One optional payment, The Full Quilt, adds the other six fabrics, the archive of past days, practice boards without limit in every technique, and all three packs of sixty. The packs can also be bought singly. Every purchase is one-time. There is no subscription, and there is not going to be one.

YOUR QUILT

Finished boards are laid out as one growing quilt, each block still wearing the fabric it was sewn in. Streaks that one busy day cannot kill. A share card, and the whole quilt as a short film if you want it.

GAME CENTER, IF YOU WANT IT

Best times for each technique at each weight, boards finished today and this week, all-time quilt size and longest streak, and twenty-seven achievements. It is optional and it stays out of the way until you sign in.

ON YOUR DEVICE

Boards are generated from the date itself, on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in and no server anywhere in Coverlet. Nothing is collected: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The whole game works in airplane mode. Game Center and payments belong to Apple and are handled by Apple.

WIDGETS AND GLANCES

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for what is left of today and how the quilt is doing, a Control Centre button that opens today's board, and a Live Activity that keeps a board's progress on the Lock Screen while you work.

Coverlet is built for VoiceOver, Larger Text and Reduce Motion, and never asks you to tell two things apart by colour alone. In Patchwork, dragging is the quick way to cut a patch and tapping two corners does the same thing; every other technique is fully operable by tap.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 2.1 — 2026-08-22

Two new techniques join the workbasket.

Cross-Stitch — count the runs along every row and column, and a stitched motif appears out of the bare cloth. The picture the numbers were keeping is the reward.

Gingham — balance light and dark, never three alike in a row, and no two rows cut the same.

Also in this update:

• Share your day as a quilt. A spoiler-free grid of colors anyone can read at a glance, and a link that opens the very same board on their device.
• Challenge a friend to your exact board and race the time you set.
• Stats and Insights — solve times, clean solves, best streaks, and every technique's own record.
• The Sampler Square changes technique each week, and Sprint features a different one each day.
• Happenings now have goals to finish and badges to earn.
• A finished quilt to look back on at the start of each month.
• A nudge when a duel is waiting for your move.

Cross-Stitch and Gingham play on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. Gingham comes to Apple Watch too.
