### 2/5 — Cameras

*2026-05-06, version 15.0.0*

Cameras don’t stay connected

### 2/5 — Was decent, now trash

*2025-11-27, version 15.0.0*

Not sure what changed recently but the app continues to revert back to username and password every time I open it, with Face ID is toggled. I’ve toggled back and forth, reset my device, removed the app and reinstalled, works for a day then reverts back to username and password auth, with the Face ID still toggled in settings. Suuuuper effective when I need to get to my arm/disarm settings quickly /s.

### 2/5 — Alarm ok, app terrible

*2025-11-23, version 15.0.0*

The app works only SOMETIMES! More often I have to delete and re-install, especially frustrating when my alarm is going off and I need to check it!

### 2/5 — Joke of an App

*2025-10-10, version 14.3.1*

This app is sad to say the least. It often decides not to let me use my Face ID, then won't remember me at all and I have to fully enter my username and password each time. I've never had as many issue with an app as this one.

### 2/5 — I can’t even log in

*2025-10-07, version 14.3.1*

I’ve had this app for multiple years, and I am now getting a blank screen and can’t log in - I’m receiving an error message saying invalid username or password even though I can log into my Cox account in a web browser with the same credentials. This was after reinstalling the app because I would get an infinite loading screen when I opened before.

### 1/5 — waste of time and money

*2025-08-25, version 14.3.1*

never works genuinely everytime i’ve needed the camera it doesn’t work the most worthless security system ever. get a ring or literally anything else

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2025-08-15, version 14.3.1*

Keeps giving me a blank screen

### 1/5 — This app has failed

*2025-07-31, version 14.3.1*

At first this app worked like it should. Over the course of the past year it has failed miserably. It won’t keep me or my wife logged in. To turn on/off the alarm outside the residence we have to log in every time. If it isn’t resolved soon, it will be time to find another alarm company!

### 1/5 — Was decent, now trash

*2025-07-09, version 14.2.0*

Not sure what changed recently but the app continues to revert back to username and password every time I open it, with Face ID is toggled. I’ve toggled back and forth, reset my device, removed the app and reinstalled, works for a day then reverts back to username and password auth, with the Face ID still toggled in settings. Suuuuper effective when I need to get to my arm/disarm settings quickly /s.

### 2/5 — Can’t Stay Signed In

*2025-06-26, version 14.2.0*

We used to have the ability to stay signed in but the feature is gone for some reason. Having to sign in every time is inconvenient. As technology advanced as we are, why take that away?

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-06-12, version 14.2.0*

Why one has to sign in every single time is beyond me. This app had no issues before and now it just kicks you out and forces you to log in every single time. Worst thing is Cox doesn’t even care to change it or fix it. It’s been this way for a long time now. Looking into other home security systems. This has too many issues.

### 1/5 — Cox Homelife app

*2025-06-11, version 14.2.0*

The app is horrible. Every other week it stops working . I am unable to control my alarm with the app. Very inconvenient.

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2025-04-08, version 14.2.0*

Can’t open

### 1/5 — Literally Terrible

*2025-03-30, version 14.2.0*

Doesn’t save login information, lag time, pausing multiple times, you can pay your bill though through a different online app, how convenient….. also, you have to give at least one star to write a review…. Let’s really think about this …..

### 2/5 — App needs a lot of work

*2025-03-01, version 14.2.0*

App. Is awful! Sometimes when you open it up it's completely blank!! This has happened multiple times and I have tried everything to get it to work, after a couple days then you can login

### 1/5 — Homelife app

*2025-02-06, version 14.2.0*

Repeat login issues: COX appears to be incapable of resolving problems; instead, they merely lead you in a never-ending cycle without allowing you to speak with a representative. On the other hand, Verizon seems to be improving steadily.

### 1/5 — Inconvenient and Slow

*2025-01-16, version 14.2.0*

The Cox Homelife app continues to have fundamental flaws. 1. It randomly boots you out of the app, I’m assuming after app updates, and clears login information and default settings such as “keep me signed in”. This creates a hilarious loop where your alarm is tripped, for example, you open the app to disarm it but you’ve been booted from the app and all your login info is deleted/blank so you get to try and remember your login information while an alarm blares in the background. Once you get in the app, you close the app and realize you have to login manually again because your settings to “keep my signed in” were also wiped when it randomly kicked you out of the app. Comically poor design. 2. Unlike other security systems, you have to enter your pass code to turn the alarm on for some reason which is useless. 3. Unlike other security systems, if there is trouble with a sensor or a window/door is open the system will not automatically turn on at preset times leaving the entire home unprotected which is actually a much worse security issue worse than setting the alarm and notifying the user of the overridden sensor.

### 1/5 — It’s the worst

*2024-12-21, version 14.2.0*

I hate that there is a 6 camera limit and that only 3 can record. I hate that I constantly have to delete and reinstall the app for Face ID to work. I hate how long it takes to sign in and pull up the cameras. I hate how often the cameras are offline. I hate that certain sensors frequently need new batteries. I keep hoping things will get better but nothing has improved in the 5 years I’ve had it. I really should just forgo all the equipment I own and switch to a different company.

### 1/5 — Can’t even sign in/up

*2024-11-26, version 13.4.0*

I can get into the cox app with no problem and see live camera but there I can’t delete videos. Only homelife can do change/remove videos.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The worst app ever?

*2026-03-30, version 15.0.0*

Arguably the worst app ever distributed. Randomly signs you out,
randomly resets biometrics, and then sometimes it just won’t connect. And you’re a tech company?

### 1/5 — Cannot sign into app

*2026-01-28, version 15.0.0*

Prompts don’t work to reset password. Paying for a service I can’t even use. And trying to get a hold of someone is next to impossible. Would love to cancel all of my services.

### 1/5 — Garbage App

*2026-01-27, version 15.0.0*

DO BETTER!

### 1/5 — App sucks

*2025-12-24, version 15.0.0*

I have been using Cox Homelife for the last eight years and they have never once updated the app appearance or listened to any feedback from their customers. You would think that they would make an effort to try to keep up with their competitors, but clearly they don’t care! They also require my username and password manually filled in every single time I login which is a pain.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware!!

*2025-12-06, version 15.0.0*

Cox is all but shutting down its security alarm side of the business. No new equipment, no repairs and no replacements if not in stock. This officially happened 11/12/2025. No notice to existing customers.

### 1/5 — Fit to be tied

*2025-11-16, version 15.0.0*

This app is an absolute joke. I got a new phone and I’ve tried to login and reset my password multiple times and I keep getting the same message to try again later and it’s absolutely ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Why do I have to log in every time I open the app now?

*2025-11-11, version 15.0.0*

Why do I have to log in every time I open the app now? Change it back to before the update.

### 1/5 — The Worst

*2025-11-05, version 15.0.0*

Can never view the cameras. Doesn’t always allow you to set / disarm the alarm. Gives an error or doesn’t adjust the thermostat. A waste of time. Better off just going to the tablet every time.

### 1/5 — SCAM from a Scam Monopoly Corporation

*2025-10-13, version 14.3.1*

Cox Homelife is a scam that Cox Communications tricks people into getting and then jacks the prices of other services up if you try to get off of the service. I don’t know if I can think of a more evil corporation in the world than Cox Communications.

### 1/5 — Updated Review

*2025-09-11, version 14.3.1*

I despise this app. Why? It forgets login info constantly and has for years. The only way to get it functioning slightly better is to delete and redownload the entire app. Does that fix it? Only temporarily, you’ll have to do this every few weeks.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — takes to long to load

*2026-03-10, version 15.0.0*

is it normal for it to stay on cox home life cause mine is on that screen but sense my dad worked at cox ill give it a 5 star

### 5/5 — Homelife

*2018-07-18*

As for my alarm system that’s the BEST thing Cox has going for them. I have to use there internet really sad. When I signed up with cox I explain my situation with them and told them
I could not go over 150. A month they said everything we all want to hear then your bill arrives and everything they told you was a LIE!!!!!! I am going to go with dish yes I will use cox internet cause we have no choice and I will keep my homelife, but cox cable is buried gone I am done fighting with these people. I have basic cable I don’t even have the cooking channel and I just paid 247. for my bill. I hate cox and always have, just one more try nothing has changed!!!!!!!

### 5/5 — Works well

*2016-05-28, version 6.2.30*

I have used this app for about two weeks now and it works as advertised. The only little problem occurs when switching between cameras. Occasionally it will freeze up. No biggie. Close the app and re-open and it's good to go.

### 5/5 — Works good!

*2016-05-15, version 6.2.30*

Only had it for a month but it works great so far! Would recommend.

### 4/5 — Gets worse with each update

*2023-07-26, version 13.3.1*

Each time is released something stops working. Now cameras won’t even load. Whag is the point of having cameras when I still have to get up and go look out the window when hear something because my app is forever try to refresh but never gets there. I’ve deleted and reinstalled. Reset my router, reset the cameras logged in and out. Nothing helps.

### 4/5 — Video recording is useless

*2023-02-25, version 13.2.0*

Update - they have addressed the video playback issues and the connectivity seems to be better. Thanks!

The only way to review video is to watch it with three icons in the middle of the picture. "Scrubbing" features have been removed and you can only jump 10 seconds forwards or backwards, all with icons blocking the video. Frequently, a camera will be triggered, but won't record, citing "communication issues".

### 4/5 — Cox connect

*2015-08-20, version 6.2.30*

Works pretty much all the he time. But when it doesn't it's almost impossible to get help

### 3/5 — .

*2024-08-19, version 13.4.0*

It dosent let me sign back in when i try to reset password and it asks for my username it either says username or password invalid, i even have a screen shot of my password and username because I usually forget.

### 3/5 — Log in

*2023-02-13, version 13.1.0*

Never had a problem with the app. Just recently now it wouldn’t let me log in. Finally had to change the password and now every time I pull up the app I have to log in. Previously it would auto sign in. This is very frustrating

### 3/5 — App has changed in the last few months

*2023-02-02, version 13.1.0*

When I downloaded the app 2 years ago it seemed to be ok, somewhat limited but I figured it would be upgraded. I use an iPhone 12 Pro 256 so I have plenty of power and ram. Lately I have to restart my phone every time I want to turn the alarm OFF and now I have to restart my phone to arm the alarm system. Cox service said “maybe” I should uninstall then reinstall the app but other than that they really didn’t know what to tell me. Also sometimes it will say I have a device not working it it lets me arm and disarm anyway. Any buddy else have this issue?
