There’s also no search feature within the CPT assistant which would be nice to have. I had an issue where I had to re-register my account because my username no longer existed on the AMA end for some reason. During this time, it gave me a free trial of the CPT codes but denied my access to the CPT assistant. I tried everything on my end including rescanning the QR code, selecting the correct year of codes, as well as reinstalling the app. I even made a support request within the settings area of the app which is still unanswered to this day. Once the free trial expired, I was given access to CPT assistant again. I didn’t even need the free trial because my purchase included the CPT codes. I didn’t get what I paid for during this time. ### 2/5 — Poor searching *2020-10-20, version 4.1.0* This app WON’T find a code by text search unless you’re lucky enough to know the text description verbatim. This constitutes a “dumb” search. Their so-called “smart” search occurs if you already know the first 3 digits of the 5-digit code. Good luck finding the code of you know what to want but not precisely what the CPT calls it (and we’re talking about an document that won’t find the word “radius” if it uses the word “radial”). ### 2/5 — Buggy, Slow and a Rip Off *2020-10-06* App was terribly slow and glitchy and would not let me see the 2020 content after I repeatedly signed in and have purchased it ### 1/5 — Rip Off *2020-03-20* I purchased the premium CPT pack and was supposed to get access to all of the CPT codes. I paid, but did not receive access to the premium pack, it’s locked down!!! This is horrible. Wish I would’ve read the reviews, but I trusted that this was reputable being that it an AMA product!!! I need a refund, will be reaching out to the AMA ### 1/5 — FOH *2020-03-01, version 4.0.4* Get the FOH with this stupid pay-for-free-information app. ### 1/5 — Buyer’s remorse *2019-12-01* Rats. Wish I had read these reviews before my recent purchase. Clearly I’m not the only one having access troubles after purchasing “access”. And I’m one of the apparently many who thought I was purchasing content rather than access. Just caved and re-purchased after multiple calls and emails with customer service failed to restore my access. Figured I’d go ahead and buy 2020. Still can’t get access. And what I’m thinking is it won’t work until 2020 - because this lousy app still won’t acknowledge that I paid for 2019. To add insult to injury, I just gave 60 bucks to an organization I rarely agree with and have never joined. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. If you cannot access 2020 purchased content, please make sure you are logged in and selected 2020 in Settings. I keep getting the error message “Sorry, no code matched your search terms” when I’m entering specific codes. Ugh! Not only can’t I load it but now I asked for a refund and was told that I had to contact the app developer for a refund. Wow! NO THANKS! Not worth it. ### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY THIS APP *2022-01-19* I have now paid for the app twice. Once by purchasing the CPT book directly from the AMA. The app worked for approximately 9 months and then just stopped. After removing it and downloading it a second time, I decided to purchase the premium access to see if that helped. I am logged in and it shows as installed, but I still cannot access the codes. I contacted the AMA for a refund for the unsupported app, and they responded that they will not refund the money and I will need to petition Apple for a refund. As usual, the AMA shows what a garbage society it is. ### 1/5 — Locks you out of Premium content with no recourse *2021-04-16, version 4.2.0* This app locked me out after a month of use. Asks you to buy premium content as the free trial has expired. I never signed for any free trial. Bought the premium bundle that included the book as well from Amazon. There is a tab that says “Restore” but clicking it doesn’t do anything. Don’t know where to get help. Would not have bought this app if I knew of these issues. ### 1/5 — No Follow Up *2021-03-31, version 4.2.0* I’ve been trying to contact developer thru the app since last August. The QR code purchased with the hard PT will not scan. The books through AAPC are not cheap and include the mobile app. It’s a good deal IF IT WORKED OR SOMEONE WOULD RESPOND. ### 1/5 — Incompetent App *2021-03-30, version 4.2.0* Terrible. Just terrible. Customer care isn’t helpful either. I tried scanning the QR code from the 2020 version of the book but it doesn’t work. Customer care doesn’t seem to have a clue either. Just a horrible experience and customer care never follows up even though they say they will. ### 1/5 — $$$ *2020-09-14, version 4.0.4* I’m a student why does this app cost money it should be provided. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — DO NOT BUY *2022-12-25, version 4.3.2* This App does nothing it states and certainly nothing that cost $89.99 only to out you have to purchase other access for $39.99 code assistance which is articles that can be found in Google. And to top it off NO REFUNDS. I tried emailing them no response at all. Still fighting with my bank over this Update 12/25 Apple has restricted my debit because of this app from August 26th. It still shows a pending charge that was never paid! This app is clear fraud they are charging hundreds for informations that is searchable on Google if you don’t know any better. Wish I did before downloading this apps. Days and months trying to resolve this issue ### 5/5 — Update flopped *2022-11-15* There was an update to the app and now it refuses to open. You HAVE to register Or sign in through the settings menu in the app. Otherwise you will still be locked out of the content. No issues with app itself, just need to follow instructions. Now that the bug fix is in place, I'm looking forward to future developments. ### 3/5 — Not perfect but good *2024-02-29* Spent an hour finding the codes I need but the fav option doesn’t work. I cannot keep going through all the codes everytime. Defeats the purpose of having the app. The explanation tab also has some glitches with always starting out with the wrong section. Less than a week later the app was updated and the package I paid for is now broken down into 2 packages one being $60 the other $40. The extras I previously paid for are gone and the only way to get it back is to pay up again.
