Nice articles encompassing a wide range of interests. Well written in a colorful format. Keeps me interested in the homebrewing process and in trying new brews. Well worth the investment! Search for articles is not easy. ### 2/5 — No bookmarking! *2022-01-16* If I were rating the magazine, I would rate it higher. But I’m rating the app. I like that I can read a magazine cover-to-cover (instead of being given a list of articles). The worst part of the app is no bookmarking. I have to remember which issue I was reading, and remember which page. Bookmarks aren’t that advanced… but apparently they are. Also, I find that the gestures aren’t well thought out— aren’t reliable. So I end up opening issues that I’m trying to scroll beyond, or closing an issue that I’m trying to scroll through. (Both of those typically happen as I’m trying to get to wherever I left off.) ### 3/5 — Don’t Go Woke! *2021-10-27* Most of the content here is outstanding, and inspirational; from beer recipes, to exciting cutting edge micro-breweries throughout the United States. Some Article’s however, have been carrying water for the Marxist “woke” crowd. I would prefer CB leave that alone and stick to the topic at hand. I realize many brewers reside in locals rife with Marxist “woke” culture, and in some cases they are in agreement with it. Just realize most of America is not. Beer isn’t really political, but rather a unifying medium. It’s sad when I read in CB’s pages some of this Marxist rhetoric. Just my humble opinion. Jon W. ### 3/5 — Great magazine but poor app!!!! *2020-01-23* I was recently given a digital subscription to CB&B magazine as a gift. The magazine content is excellent, but the app is seriously lacking in functionality. It very rarely remembers the page I got to whilst reading any issue (current or past), and there is no bookmark function to find or reference anything that you might want to go back to at a later date. I enjoy being able to read articles at work on my phone with full access with the app. ### 3/5 — Good start, but needs offline reading capability *2016-01-06* The app is a good first start and better than the previous way of downloading a PDF via email link and storing in iBooks. Given this magazine is a little larger than normal in print, no formatting adjustment for the app means that some print can be hard to read on an iPad, and impossible on other devices. Finally, you should be able to read downloaded articles offline WITHIN THE APP. CB&B magazine customer service suggested that in order to read offline, I need to download the PDF to iBooks. Why should I not be able to read offline within the app (like on an airplane)? The inability to do so, given that magazines in apps are not a new thing, I will continue to see this app as mediocre. The new app will not allow me to access my prior purchased issues nor will it let me restore my purchases. When I sent an e-mail asking for this to be addressed, they basically said too bad, that is just the way it is and I would have to re-subscribe to be able to access the issues I already paid for. ### 1/5 — Free trial to short *2018-02-03* The free trial is sixty seconds long. You get to page two and the trial ends. It's slow to load otherwise I would of given a higher score. I don't know if it's worth the $10. After a week they blocked the issue and ask 9.99 to access it. Now I have access to a leaflet of a few pages about brewing for beginners... for my enjoyment. I would consider myself an intermediate Homebrewer. That means I know enough to be dangerous. But with what I learned from the techniques taught through the pages of this magazine I have become much more consistent and knowledgeable. I frequently brew the featured recipes and I especially like the articles about breweries around the country (and the world). Whenever I am traveling to a city I always consult Craft Beer And Brewing for breweries and bars that I may want to check out while I’m there.
