### 2/5 — Good idea, but underdone

*2025-01-24, version 3.8.0*

Good concept, but really incoherent. It is like it was not tested in house. Working through the app, it’s unclear if you are meant to answer a question yourself, or from the uncles perspective.

### 4/5 — Great idea a little under done

*2023-04-14, version 3.1*

Love the concept but find the presentation a bit clunky. Hope you find the time to add some polish.

### 3/5 — Needs testing on more phones

*2023-02-09, version 3.1*

Love the concept but dialogue boxes do not fit on iPhone SE 1st generation (2016) screen.

### 5/5 — Positive climate change education

*2022-06-04, version 2.2*

Provides an effective means to educate yourself information about climate change and fallacies that deniers use. I am sure more is to come after you complete everything though

### 5/5 — MACHT MEHR LEVEL SONST KREPIERE ICH HIER

*2022-06-02, version 2.2*

Bitte ich brauche es ich brauche mehr Level und Angebote für Echt Geld um Punkte zu erwerben BITTTTTE MEHR LEVEL !!!!!

### 1/5 — Ah

*2022-05-02, version 2.1*

Had to do for yr10 for 5% of my mark. It’s a cracked game. I realised it runs Bitcoin when my phone almost exploded playing it.

### 1/5 — Poop

*2022-04-29*

Pooped my pants while playing. Very bad

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-13, version 4.3*

The game doesn’t even work. It just is stuck to the “start playing” page. Such high hopes I had, such a let down.

### 1/5 — not working

*2026-01-22, version 4.2*

app doesn't work, just stuck on the start playing, there's nothing under denial, about or progress, all blank

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-01-16, version 4.2*

Doesn’t even work

### 1/5 — Cranky Uncle is a Fake Expert

*2025-01-26, version 3.8.0*

Developed by Skeptical Science, a website devoted to true ‘Climate Science’, and against real scientific discussion, the app brands as ‘misinformation’ anything that questions the status quo IPCC view, and it brands as a ‘fake expert’ any retired physics professor from Princeton. But Climate Science relies upon the basics of physics: Arrhenius, Stefan and Boltzmann, Tyndall, Planck … they were ALL physicists.
It’s this app that’s the Fake Expert!

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2024-02-10, version 3.4.0*

It sounded like it would be good but honestly not really.

### 1/5 — This app is rubbish

*2023-01-22, version 3.1*

Completed the initial quiz two days ago and it’s still calculating my responses! It’s as good as climate scientists 🤣

### 1/5 — lzzzzzz

*2022-08-21, version 3.0*

this app suggs bals

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-07-22, version 2.2*

When I click on Quiz it brings me to a plank screen

### 1/5 — Dreadful

*2022-07-16, version 2.2*

The app attempts to teach basic logical fallacies, but unintentionally commits several itself. Not recommended.

### 1/5 — bad

*2022-05-02, version 2.1*

app runs like my 97 year old grandma moments before death

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Hilarious and Effective

*2024-12-19, version 3.8.0*

An unusual but effective and funny way to learn how to navigate conversations with climate deniers. The app could be more polished, but it’s fun and fully functional. Also, a lot of the reviews from quite a while ago say you need to enter an email before you can do anything. You don’t anymore.

### 5/5 — Crank Your Thinking Up!

*2024-07-01, version 3.8.0*

Ok, the simple cartoon sequential format is not your all-singing-dancing game app! But the 5 star rating is for how this App is carefully crafted to engage you in a fun but very serious way to teach you essential skills in our social media world where everyone is an “expert”. Unlike just reading about a topic, this game format makes you think actively all the way through. The Cranky Uncle teaches you and defines all his science-denying strategies. Then he quizzes you so you know you can spot and outwit how he operates. The higher your score the more cranky you make him!

Three suggestions. For international users some of the US famous names aren’t familiar. I didn’t realise until the end that what was on his head was the tinfoil hat - and I’m not sure everyone would know why cranks might wear a tinfoil hat!! Encouraging you to answer quickly (to earn more points) doesn’t seem right to me: critical thinking is “slow thinking” and should take all the time an individual needs to get good answers!

### 5/5 — Should be part of every school syllabus

*2024-01-07, version 3.4.0*

I am so heartened to see this app exists. Full of necessary information and a great way to help children and young adults (or old) navigate politics on social media. Hopefully this app will continue to get the funding it deserves and continue to be further refined and maintained.

### 5/5 — Der Typ

*2023-12-15, version 3.3.0*

Er sieht Crazy aus

### 5/5 — Unisce l’utile col dilettevole!

*2023-05-25, version 3.2.1*

### 5/5 — This game is better than reviews say it is

*2023-03-03, version 3.1*

This game is insane and is worthy of a 5 stars and an encouraging review to get others to download it some very ignorant people have actually committed impossible expectations which this app has taught me how to catch these people are complaining about every single glitch and bug and expecting the app to fix all of them. Such as “the game wouldn’t load” I have not experienced this issue so it must be there internet. People are also spreading lies about this app saying there committing fallacies when it is clear there’re not. The only fallacies in this app are either examples or tests to see if a person can spot them. Also all the bugs people are accusing this app of having are false there could have been bugs in the past but this app is clearly bug free. Any review below 4 stars was probably written before I downloaded this app or is a complaining person on the internet trying to go after a small business for attention. Please download this app you will love it. It can help you improve your grades, get better at logic, catch formal and informal fallacies, and improve your debating and reasoning skills. I highly incentivize you to download trust me you will not regret it

### 5/5 — it’s a game!

*2022-09-01, version 3.0*

This deserves five stars. My professor told my class that if we reach 1500 point we get extra credit and this game is simply yet isn’t too bad. I like it.

### 5/5 — Great App to Inoculate Against Misinformation

*2022-08-05, version 2.2*

Amazing!

### 5/5 — Works great, fun way to learn.

*2022-07-29, version 2.2*

I had to really think about many of the questions. I also found the explanations to be insightful and easy to understand.
