Thank you! ### 5/5 — Spectacular Updates *2025-10-19, version 6.3.9* I never ever rate apps, but I had to take a moment to express my delight at the recent updates of the CRB app. Not only is it usable now (!!!) but it has so many features that I haven’t even explored them all. There are no issues with the stream anymore, it doesn’t play sponsor spots of its own volition, and the “recently played” menu option made me see stars. Thank you so so so so much for updating it, I’ve been listening to CRB even more because of it! 🥺❤️ ### 3/5 — New app? *2025-10-18, version 6.3.9* This seems to be a change for the sake of change. Apparently there are technical changes below the surface of the app but the change to the view and function…why. This seems especially ironic with the loss in funding from the government causing the constant (or consistent) requests for more donations coupled with layoffs; but they spend money on a new ‘app’. (and been a contributor that long). Being able to listen anywhere when I wake up every morning (even when I travel to the Outer Banks thanks to this app) AND also to open the app to “see” what the current piece “playing” is, are both essential to me and add so much peace & delight to my day. I often listen in the car 😌 as well as later in the day. The app is easy to navigate & listening to interviews (yay! Brian McCreath!) and past & live concerts enlarges my world & musical knowledge. The hosts are so positive & knowledgeable!!! I feel like they are friends, esp Eden Mae & Cathy Fuller. (I miss Laura C/Karlow.) I am a classical choral singer & was music major in college. The caliber of content & hosts is superb. Always new works that I have not heard. That’s why CRB is so much better than other streaming apps: the serendipity of hearing & experiencing the new & unexpected is The Best. It is easier to use and I appreciate having the track information on the lock screen. You can also now hear the most recent Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts and other programs on-demand. I’m from Boston and have listened to CRB since it was a commercial station. Title and artist not helpful. 2) More variety! Same loop of a dozen or so songs played over and over and over … . It’s terrible. ### 1/5 — Inept *2025-08-19, version 4.2.8* The website does not work. ### 1/5 — Desperately needs updates *2024-04-25* This app is in rough shape and makes CRB look very amateur and cheap. The boolean value "true" appears in a lot of spaces it should not, most annoyingly in the now playing screen. You cannot view the history of played songs. The "settings" page has no settings. You cannot collapse the "other streams" window, leaving the space of the song details incredibly narrow, especially on my iphone 13 mini. And the overall design is very dated. GBH should look into a different company than jacapps to develop their app infrastructure if they want to increase their listener base on mobile. You could probably hire a single developer in-house to make a better app. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work *2023-06-12, version 4.2.3* The only thing this app seems to do is say "There was a problem downloading the audio". Maybe they should update the app more often than once every four years. ### 1/5 — Lousy *2022-12-17, version 4.2.3* App keeps crashing. I keep having to download it constantly. Bufffffering… 👎 ### 1/5 — Data Hog/Battery Drain *2022-09-29, version 4.2.3* This app is a data hog and a significant drain on the battery. Used the app in my SUV; listened to the Bach stream. Used 10gb in five days, battery wouldn’t stay charged. Drained in less than 12 hours. Removed the app and data usage and battery life are back to normal. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work half the time *2022-06-03, version 4.2.3* This app is very frustrating. At least 50% of the time it doesn’t list what is currently playing. When I listen to CRB I’m often in my car and am not near WiFi to find out what’s playing I was hoping this app would provide that information. Often it doesn’t. Nor does my car radio show what’s playing. So I guess whoever is at the station has forgotten to input the information. ### 1/5 — Love CRB Hate The Totally Unreliable App *2021-09-16, version 4.2.3* The programming of CRB is superb BUT its iOS app is an unmitigated disaster; when and if working, it never plays the CRB main broadcast stream, only defaults to Bach, Early Music or Boston Symphony sub streams. When one attempts to change the stream, this is displayed (and nothing else ends up working): ALERT THERE WAS A PROBLEM DOWNLOADING THE AUDIO For such an important classical, NPR, PBS affiliate, it makes one wonder if anyone is paying attention to details. I’ve reached out to the developer, jācapps, to the WBRC and WGBH’s station’s engineering and management and received absolutely no response. ### 1/5 — Unstable and unreliable *2021-02-19, version 4.2.3* This app should be a slam dunk, with a simple interface and one simple job to do. Yet, almost every time I use it it takes multiple attempts and forced close outs to be able get the stream to start. The result for me? Deleting the app and playing the stream from TuneIn.
