### 1/5 — 100% awful

*2023-08-31, version 2.2.42*

See the title and save yourself the trouble.

### 1/5 — Doesn't even work on ipads

*2023-02-23*

...

### 1/5 — Never won me over

*2022-11-14*

In the five years of trying out this app for streaming content from my iPad to the TVs in my classroom, I’ve never been happy with the process or result. In this latest iteration, I saw a new logo and a recent update and hoped for the best. No luck connecting to the device in the classroom (perhaps the device was running old software? Shouldn’t keep me from connection though), but my iPad did stop Airplaying to my home TV.

I didn’t make the connection right away, but I believe the latest version of the software did something to the network stack on my iPad that broke AirPlay. Before uninstalling, AirPlay to my local TV resulted in a black screen on the TV and non-responsive internet on the iPad. As soon as I uninstalled the software (didn’t even need a restart), Airplay and internet access were restored.

Have to say, this doesn’t do anything to encourage confidence in the Crestron brand. Anyone asks me for my opinion on the company or their products, I’m going to have to give a giant thumbs down.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-11-02*

I’ve tried using AirMedia on Iphone, ipad, an MacOS and it does not work, yet my school/work fully integrated Creston into everything so we’re stuck with useless thousands of dollars worth of AV equipment around campus that no one seems to be able to use,

### 1/5 — Absolutely nonfunctional.

*2022-10-26, version 2.2.42*

Wow this is horrific. Cannot connect to a display on iPad OS 16, either.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t work in OSX Big Sur and previous OSX

*2022-02-17*

THE NEGATIVE: The application cannot connect with the address of a network projector, and this is due to some changes Apple did in the last operating systems, mainly Big Sur. It could have been fixed, however, Crestron didn’t fix it yet. Two years or more and this company didn’t fix it!

THE POSITIVE: The application actually can connect with the address of a network projector if you try multiple times. It has difficulties to connect, but after 20 or more attempts can connect. Sometimes moving around the room can connect. However, this is very unstable.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-01-24*

So far it’s batting a .000. Congrats to crestron on successfully conning my university into spending my hard-earned tuition money on a flaming pile of garbage app. Proud of u.

### 1/5 — Not useful

*2021-08-09*

My institution recently upgraded our library and these devices were brought in as state of the armory enhancement for our students.

We Have been trying to connect wirelessly via iPhone, laptop (HP, LENOVO, Mac) and nothing seems to connect to any of the screens. A waste of money!

### 1/5 — I have yet to get this to work

*2020-02-02, version 2.1.24*

This never connects to any of my universities tvs

### 1/5 — I would give negative stars if I could

*2019-10-29*

AirMedia quite literally never works. The app won’t pick up a single receiver and I can’t use a web browser either. Garbage.

### 1/5 — Solid waste of life

*2019-10-11, version 2.0.10*

Excellent job wasting time and effort. Great business fail.

### 1/5 — Can’t display

*2019-06-12*

This doesn’t actually allow mirroring or sharing of anything. It redirects to a similar app (same logo in black), and that app is a black screen. Does not allow any sharing of any kind, unfortunately.

### 2/5 — Mobile works on android but not iOS

*2018-07-03, version 2.0.3*

Just downloaded the app for work to show some mobile reporting and found out that it works on android phones but not Apple.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2018-06-27*

Absolute garbage. The company should be ashamed to put something as poorly coded as this app into the market. Freezes, crashes, doesn’t connect.

### 1/5 — The receivers don’t work.

*2018-01-25*

My university has begun using these Crestron air media receivers. However, after several months of trying to hook up my device, be it an iPhone or my Mac or a PC, I have been unable to get a single receiver to detect to my devices. The experience has been generally frustrating, to say the least.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It doesn’t not work

*2025-11-24, version 2.3.0*

It’s useless

### 1/5 — Worst Presentation App

*2025-11-02*

Somehow managed to mess up one of the simplest functions. It should NOT be this difficult in 2025.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-05-25*

Followed the instructions at my apartment complex pool TVs. The tv just keeps spinning.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2025-03-21*

Whenever I’ve tried it always gives an error message regardless of which study room TV I use.

### 1/5 — Stupid app

*2024-10-21*

Stupid app

### 1/5 — iPadOS 18 - do not upgrade

*2024-09-26*

Doesn’t work with latest OS on latest iPad. Do not upgrade your OS if you need this!

### 1/5 — Catastrophic

*2024-07-09*

Clunky interface that drops constantly. I don’t know why my company uses it. Totally worthless.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-03-27*

Doens’t let my iPad connect to any tv with air media.

### 1/5 — Does not work in 2024

*2024-01-16*

I have tried to use this app for years in my university classrooms, it worked back in 2020, but not since about 2021.

### 1/5 — Zero Support for Current Gen Apple Hardware

*2023-08-31*

Crestron has zero support for current generation Apple hardware. Don’t bother downloading the app. Spend your energy telling your IT department that they need to STOP using Crestron AirMedia and find a different solution.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Small hurdle for use

*2024-05-21*

This app works great, the only thing holding it back is that it integrates with the iOS to preserve resources. This has the unfortunate side effect of making it the users responsibility to learn to use it.

Once I figured out how to use it, and did so multiple times across multiple classroom setups where this was installed, it became significantly easier to use.

As the app does everything it’s designed to flawlessly I grant it 5 stars.

That said, the school network where this is in use is not optimized for audio and video streaming as of yet and there are noticeable bandwidth issues, problems which this app cannot fix as it runs on the school network.

### 5/5 — App User

*2018-01-19*

Compared to past experience with Crestron App, new update is much improved in terms of User interface, latency and ease of use than any other update Crestron has ever done. Keep up the good work Crestron.

### 5/5 — Tut genau das was sie soll.

*2016-11-20*

"Bring Your Own Device" einfach hervorragend umgesetzt.

### 4/5 — “Application Issue found”

*2026-01-06*

I know this application works, however I found out that I need to turn the power off and on my iDevice in order to get the application AirPlay to work every time.

It’s like something isn’t totally off from the application AirPlay after disconnecting AirPlay device and reconnecting it to another AirPlay device. Only works when turning off and back on the power of the iDevice and use AirPlay again.

### 4/5 — Game changer for me

*2019-02-28*

I teach math and chemistry. I’ve been using an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil for my classes but to project I’ve been tied to the podium. We got a new Air Media installed in one of our classrooms. I’ve only used it a few times but find that it has potential to be a game changer for my classes.

### 4/5 — Missing iPhone X support

*2018-01-31*

Wish it had support for Apple's latest phone.

### 4/5 — Works good missing annotation!!

*2013-08-29, version 1.0.5*

If you where able to annotate it would be great!!

### 3/5 — AirMedia mostly fine, has some quirks

*2024-01-10*

The app mostly works fine, but at some point in the last few months, swapping between projectors requires an iPad restart which is wildly inconvenient for college faculty.

### 3/5 — Works, but device integration limited

*2015-09-10*

The app does exactly what it says, and that's a good thing. Unfortunately for me personally I present lots of interactive content, not just PDF and office documents. The "shoot and share" approach of 'sharing applications' is limited in it's usefulness, and fairly clunky if I'm in the middle of a presentation and just want to flick to something else. What would be much more useful would be being able to share the home screen (and therefore other apps) in the same way I can share via home sharing. This is effectively the power I have on my laptop, but then the content and apps I share are on the iPad. Looks like I'll still be wired for the near future anyway.
