### 3/5 — Fun game but it’s really hard

*2020-07-28*

I love playing this game but I find I keep losing every game I play is there something I’m missing

### 2/5 — To hard!

*2019-01-04*

Great game and concept but feels stupid.
I love cricket so I got this game, it is fun but it just feels like it favours the cpu. I am playing on easy yet I can’t win.
I’ve tried looking at tips but they don’t seem to work please add something to this game, not the next game and slap a $13 on it

Update: I have played a number of more games and it is nearly impossible to win even on easy and it is very infuriating.
Never getting this game again and if your looking at this, don’t waste your money

### 4/5 — A good game with flaws in limited overs games

*2018-11-28*

Generally this game is great - addictive and you are able to really build a good squad yourself over a few years. Very fun to while away the time on the tube or bus. The graphics are fine for what the game is

International captaincy is tough because of the bowling.....I can usually rack up a lot of runs but generally in every game the opposition racks up 600-5 declared most games. Something to work on

The biggest issue with this game is the controlling of batsmen in T20 and limited overs cricket

Chasing scores can be infuriating because batsmen in the final overs still play no shot or defend it despite having them on maximum aggression/ one down from maximum aggression. Once in a T20, I needed 3 off the last ball and my batsman defended it.

Other than that it’s a good game but developers should look at the aggression levels and link that into the game scenario.

### 4/5 — Brilliant but..

*2018-10-28*

Love this game, but have updated it on numerous occasions and my squads never seem to change. This for me is the most important thing for me and I think regular squad changes (particularly in the English county leagues) could improve the game dramatically.
Another thought - trying to develop young players as the seasons go on but not seeing much if any improvements- any advice for this?
Thank you though great game never off it

### 3/5 — Good but so could be so much better..

*2018-09-01*

Had a few versions of this game, as it’s the closest to a cricketing Football Manager - and it’s a decent game but has so much more potential.

Biggest frustration is that the updates only ever seem to be for new squads and player moves - the game itself never changes. It has been crying out for player attributes and coaching staff for years in my opinion.

Biggest gripe of all is the sometimes crazy AI. I’ve lost count of times that I’ve lost a T20 or ODI in the last over or two when the oppositions tail end turn into Brian Lara! Only yesterday the opposition No 11, who was apparently defensive style, launched my bowler into the stands 3 times in a row to win a T20 match. Appreciate ‘once in a blue moon’, but multiple times a season? Really... Something amiss there.

### 4/5 — Best cricket game I’ve ever played

*2018-08-09*

This game is very good. There is just one thing that I think the game needs to make it amazing is the ability to set your own field. The field settings are good but the ability to make your third man finer or to move you square leg in clods would be incredible.

### 1/5 — No stats

*2018-08-08*

How are you meant to play a game without player statistics? It’s guesswork. The only way of knowing players from my own knowledge of Cricket.

Don’t buy this game unless you are a walking wisden

**Developer response:** Hi Smartgethin,

Cricket generates statistics that indicates player ability levels better than any falsely generated player abilities would. You can also use 2nd XI numbers to get an indication of player abilities.

We believe that identifying player abilities and having to work out who your best players are is a game in itself and more realistic than just picking the best numbers from fake abilities.

### 2/5 — More of the same

*2018-08-06*

Pretty much the same as all the other versions I’ve played. Not a lot of competition around for this type of game, which is why I purchased it again. Always felt it would be better if there were attributes for each player (similar to Football Manager) so you can compare your players, see the improvements made in training as well as work out their strengths and suitability to the different formats. Don’t think I’d personally download it again, should of just carried on playing the 2017 version.

### 4/5 — Good but only slightly improved

*2018-07-30*

Played these games on and off for years, mainly on PC. This version is an improvement and games feel realistic and quite often are entertaining.

Not sure if you have the previous years it is worth the £8.99, but if you like cricket and haven’t played this series recently like me then go for it. I know I will get a good amount of playtime out of it, so overall would give it a good 4 stars.

### 4/5 — Great game

*2018-07-24*

When will you be able to create a player? Feel this would be a good improvement

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not have updated 2019 squads

*2019-05-06, version 1.17*

Really, I expect a better model by now: something in which there is live updates for squads and a yearly subscription for the app maybe (it’s pretty much that if you pay for squad and tournament updates and some minor engine tweaks every so often.

### 1/5 — AI overpowered and no consistency

*2019-03-30*

None of my players had any consistency when they played and they kept on going for runs they could never get. I won 4 games in the World Cup group and lost the next for no apparent reason other than scripting. This is a massive waste of money.

### 1/5 — Save your money - Terrible game

*2019-03-03*

The game is very unrealistic and random, as well as the fact that you actually have very little control of your players, so essentially your just watching the computer play itself! Not worth it at all, massively regret buying!

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2019-01-31*

This game gets worse every year, totally biased in favour of the AI opponent! Every game I play I lose at least 3-4 batters before I even get to 20 runs, and that’s on a defensive setting. I’ve bought this game every year since it was released but this will be the last time.

### 1/5 — Adil Rashid

*2019-01-19*

You need to fix adil rashid about the test matchs

### 1/5 — Indian Bias

*2018-12-31*

So India is unbeatable and Kohli scores a 100 every test? Is this game developed by the ICC???

### 1/5 — Don’t buy it

*2018-09-23*

This is an absolute waste of money. Overly complicated and unrealistic outcomes . Could not not stress more , don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2018-09-07*

Update - spent a couple more weeks on this to see if i could improve. I managed to get some wins on the county champ games, but it’s a pretty dull affair after three or four marches and really tough to see how what you are doing has any impact on the game so it’s all pretty much guesswork. Forget one day matches - that seems to be total guesswork and chance. I ended up skipping the one day games and letting the AI decide who won as that seemed to at least a 50 pc chance of a win. And the only constant seems to be win the toss, you win the match. Worst 9 quid I’ve spent on here. I’m deleting. No entertainment value whatsoever.

Tried really really hard to like this game, read a lot of the forums, tried different tactics, complete waste of time. I’m sure there’s a way to beat the engine but I don’t have the hours to waste on finding out how. Unless you massively geek out on this it’s a series of frustrating batting collapses and bowling for days with no result. If you have nothing else to do and enjoy frustrating experiences then this is your game. Personally I like a challenge but a bit of entertainment and satisfaction are also key ingredients for a good gaming experience.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2018-09-05*

This game is not user friendly. It lacks an introductory level. Easy is not easy. There are no instructions - so good luck on how to be successful. It’s impossible to win unless you’re on a dominant team such as England, India, Australia (NSW bias included). Why can’t the developers do better for a paid app?

**New: saw the developer response. Read the site. I thought this would be enjoyable to unwind after work, but seriously, ball by ball. There needs to be a proper easy mode. One that gives the new entrants a fair chance to learn. The concept is appealing, but not really enjoyable if you can’t win because it’s so complicated.

**Developer response:** Hi,

We have a help guide in-game which is accessible by doing a three-finger press on the screen. This displays help information relevant to the screen you're on.

The game can be difficult, I've found some great tips in here:

### 1/5 — More luck than management

*2018-08-09*

Nothing you do has any effect on the players. So many T20 games I’ve been 98-4 off 20 overs regardless of aggression. Likewise first class games just very unrealistic...set Essex 380 to win in 1 and a half sessions and they won with 45 minutes left to play, no matter what I did they would chase unrealistic targets. Couple that with ridiculous collapses almost every game. Genuinely wanted to enjoy this game but doesn’t give any opportunity to develop a team/tactics

**Developer response:** It's important to try and get the batsmen a bit settled before going to 8 bars. I start each batsman on 6 bars until they've faced about 5 or 6 balls and then attack more. I'm consistently scoring 170-180 in 20 Overs. Do check on your batsman's preferences, in 20 Over I'm only using batsman who are aggressive or very aggressive, only use average if they're special batsmen.

This guide on our forum is good:

### 5/5 — This game is awesome and gets better every year

*2018-12-21*

Whoever says this game is hard , boring the same as every other game made by these guys are morons I’ve owned version since the computer versions and love them my wife thinks I spend more time playing them than with her and my daughter but I’m a cricket nuffie, everything changes and evolves if you don’t like it don’t play it , could there be improvements yes but who cares , the developers try there best in the time frame they have to support everyone and develop a better version with updated teams and formats and country’s every year keep up the awesome work and games guys

### 5/5 — Love it

*2018-12-10*

Keeps getting bigger and better every year. Larger data base meaning more teams to choose from. Fantastic for anyone who is strategically/analytically minded and loves the stats in cricket. Worth every dollar for me. Not a game for someone who wants to control the players. I love being the COACH and selecting the team and looking through my players averages etc. and there’s no better game to do that than cricket captain.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2018-10-27*

Don’t believe all those who say this is a waste of time. It seems they don’t have the patience to spend time getting to know how to be a success. There is no quick fix for being great at this game. It takes time and patience to work out your best team, best field settings, when to bowl who, what bowler to bowl in what weather etc...
Yes there are times when you’ll be 100-8 in a Twenty20 match but that happens in real life as well. On the flip side there are times when you’ll hit 180+. The same can be said for 4 day or Test matches - sometimes you may reach 500+ and other times you may be bowled out for 150. Each match is different and it will be up to you to work out those intricacies.
Give this a go, play for a couple of weeks and then make a judgement. You won’t be disappointed.

### 5/5 — Keeps crashing

*2018-09-04*

Game keeps crashing after 2020!!

### 5/5 — Worth it!

*2018-07-26*

I have bought every year this game’s new version and it is very addictive. Great time pass.
