## What is CrimeTrip?

CrimeTrip is a true crime game in augmented reality using conversational generative AI.

Season Finale release: In 1990, the RCMP Crime Unit conducted an investigation, dubbed Contract Project, in which the police opened its own phony currency exchange office, the Montreal International Monetary Center, for the purpose of arresting drug traffickers using this exchange office to launder drug money. All employees in that office were in fact RCMP officers who had been trained beforehand by the National Bank of Canada to act as professional tellers. $160 million were intercepted through this storefront operation.

In this episode, you are a detective trying to stop money laundering. You have five suspects, powered by chat GPT, to interview and your job is to turn one of the suspects into a mole and make him snitch the culprits. You have a limited number of interactions to use, so you need to ask the right questions and use the right techniques to convince one of them to talk.

You will interrogate the suspects of the Contract project using your own voice via Speech-to Text. The suspects' responses to your questions are based on real-life facts and information about the crime. So, you need to think carefully about the questions you ask and how you interact with the suspects to get them to reveal important informations that will help you solve the case.

Dive into famous true crimes that happened in real life! Become a detective and investigate criminal cases, crimes, gangster murders, cartel activities, cocaine smuggling, clever federal mouse traps, crazy bandits fighting for criminal rights, classic Mafiosi takeovers, and bombs hidden in VHS tapes. You know, the usual stuff. But hey, at least you get to solve them in augmented reality!

Tune in to investigate these unsolved mysteries in this interactive true crime game. Discover real archive images and forensics from crime scenes, be part of the investigation, uncover the evidence, and share your investigation’s discovery.

Use an array of investigative tools to elaborate your theories on unresolved true-crime cold cases and share them with fellow crime crazies.

But beware of what you may find... Maybe this is not a game, but rather a gateway into a real-life rabbit hole.

HOW TRUE ARE YOUR TRUE CRIMES?
All the facts have been thoroughly researched and checked by our investigative researchers.

IS IT VIOLENT?
Actually, it's not. In contrast with the drama of the crimes, we designed the game experience as a dark comedy. The style we are using contains no blood or gory material.

### 4/5 — Game seemed nice but..

*2024-01-06*

I kept getting kicked from it, does it support IPad?

### 1/5 — Terrible and broken

*2023-12-30*

This game is broken. Whenever I try to ask a question, it says there was a glitch. Fix you’re game, developers.

**Developer response:** Fear not, dear user, for this story has a turn. The issue, once a pesky gremlin in the system, has been resolved. Your journey can now proceed with fewer unexpected detours. Happy exploring!

### 4/5 — Question, asking

*2023-12-30*

Love the game really good but there’s one problem I haven’t played much. It doesn’t really help us much with what questions we can ask so I recommend they add a hint button or like a button that will tell us some of the questions that we can ask them, but from that it’s great.

**Developer response:** Ah, a player enchanted by the game, yet adrift in a sea of uncertainty, yearning for a beacon of guidance.

Your journey, much is filled with choices, yet you find yourself seeking a hint, a nudge, a whisper of what questions to ask. Imagine, if you will, a button, a magical oracle revealing possibilities, lighting your path in this labyrinth of decision. A splendid idea, indeed! But for now, you should explore the investigation board with the good old post-it hints.

Keep playing, dear player, for the journey is as wondrous as the destination.

### 2/5 — The Polygraph does not work at all

*2023-12-28*

I am asking the most basic questions to even see if it will work, “What is your birthday” and the narrator just says the polygraph has problems - but the little screen shows me what I said.
I had high hopes for this game. But after dozens of attempts, nothing worked. Very buggy.

**Developer response:** Fear not, dear user, for this story has a turn. The issue, once a pesky gremlin in the system, has been resolved. Your journey can now proceed with fewer unexpected detours. Happy exploring!

### 3/5 — Game was lookin good.

*2023-12-27*

There has to be a free fun way to get questions. I really was enjoying myself until I realized I bassicly had to pay to play the game I downloaded the game for..

**Developer response:** Dear player, thank you for your poignant sentiment. Sadly we live in a world where indie developers craft intricate stories and experiences hidden behind screens and code, working tirelessly, fueled by a blend of passion and the very real need to pay their bills. After all, even the most whimsical creators must eat, and alas, magic and dreams do not, as of yet, pay the rent.

Meanwhile, there you are, dear player, perhaps nestled in the familiar comfort of a basement in your parent’s house, experiencing these digital wonders. It’s a stark contrast, isn’t it?

On one side, the creator, striving to transform imagination into reality, hoping that their efforts will resonate enough to turn into financial support. On the other, the consumer, you, facing the realization that to delve into these crafted worlds, a price must often be paid.

### 1/5 — Keeps telling me to find a brighter place

*2023-08-28*

I am in a well lit room and it’s telling me to find a brighter place, I have a iPhone XR and this has never happened with any other A-R games such as Pokémon go, please fix because I can’t even play the game..

**Developer response:** Ah, dear player! Would you be so kind as to send a missive to community@crimetrip.com? You see, in the grand narrative of your phone's adventures, it might be entangled with a sneaky iPhone case obstructing its camera or LiDAR, a room that's just too dimly lit, or, plot twist, a phone that simply refuses to dance with AR. Let's navigate this plot together, shall we?

### 4/5 — Overpriced, but fun!

*2023-07-22*

Personally, I’m very bad at retaining information in a useful way, so games like this are challenging for me. But besides that, it seems very awesome and I love the idea of interacting with an AI through voice. The voices themselves don’t sound that fake either. However, I do think it’s kind of unreasonable to charge for questions. If the use of AI in your game is reason to charge so much for questions, then what if there was an option to watch an ad for 5 more questions? Anyways, I love the work.

**Developer response:** Thank you for expressing your love for our work! As you ponder upon alternative methods, such as watching ads for extra inquiries, I must say, your suggestion has merit. This said we hate ads as much as you do and prefer to charge a bit more than break the flow of the game.

The price of the question pack may seem exorbitant, but do understand, it reflects the costly nature of AI language model usage and text-to-speech expenses. Alas, the complexities of AI demand their toll!

Until then, continue your exploration and embrace the complexities of choice and consequence, as only CrimeTrip can offer.

### 2/5 — Keeps asking me to find a brighter place

*2023-07-14*

The game seems nice but before could play it asked me to find a brighter place even though I’m In a well lit room. I even tried to go outside and it kept on saying find a brighter place. Please fix this thank you

**Developer response:** Hey zenbobwe. Would you mind sharing with us the brand of your phone? Also could you verify if the cover hides the LiDAR Detector at the back ? Let us know at community@crimetrip.com

### 5/5 — Very good but has some problems

*2023-05-14*

So first of all I downloaded this game through and add and I love the cinematic stuff that is included but I think that they should be free because I don’t have the money or stuff to get it but I saw a couple videos and it seems pretty valid!

**Developer response:** Hey there, thanks for your comment. You can maybe try our latest stories The Heist of the Century and Contract Project since they have a free starter pack. Have a great day.

### 5/5 — Dense storyline

*2023-03-02, version 01.5*

This game really takes you into the story, very engaging!

**Developer response:** We're glad you're hooked! We've worked hard to make sure CrimeTrip is a crime-solving experience like no other. So get moving, and let the criminal masterminds take you on a wild ride. It's time to get your detective hat on and crack some cold cases!
