### 4/5 — Crimpd+ needs a more simple intuative UI

*2026-03-14, version 7.0.6*

Crimpd+ would be amazing apart from the UI.

Simple improvements to training plans would be:

Drag and drop of workouts to reorder in the day and the week.

Simple side navigation to swap between areas.

It just needs to be more intuitive.

Some additional workouts and structures for Crimpd+ users would also be nice.

### 4/5 — Une version en français ?

*2026-01-08*

Application très bien faite, pratique, nombreux exercices, suivi etc. Une référence en escalade, mais malheureusement uniquement en anglais. Est-il prévu de choisir la langue dans les futures mises-a-jour ?

### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2025-03-14, version 5.5.6*

For doing some specific finger training the functionality is enough. But some things are super enjoying. I like to listen to music via other music apps while doing my workout but the Damm timer of the crimpd app always stops my music. Even when turning the volume to 0. Basically stopped using the app only for this reason. If not for this enjoying bug I would consider buying premium.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2025-01-31*

I liked the app and it’s fairly easy to use but recently got updated and the time sound cuts the music from other apps and there’s no way to disable, before it used to sound on top of the music

### 4/5 — Great, but…

*2024-07-18*

Love the training options and workouts. My only complaint is that I can’t hear the start and stop tones through earbuds with music playing. Volume in the app is set to max. It would be great if those tones could dim the music like timers and alarms do in the clock app, or be set louder so I don’t have to keep looking back at my phone when I’m pumped wondering if I missed the end of my rep.

### 3/5 — it’s alr..

*2024-04-01, version 5.1.0*

I just got the app so idk rely much about it yet but it seems like I can’t do ANYTHING unless I pay, I can only log my sessions.

### 4/5 — Great app with minor issues

*2024-03-25*

I think the app has been great thus far for tracking my daily hang boarding routine! However, if I’m doing my sets while listening to music through my headphones, the music will pause at the beep countdowns, at around 3s. Even after turning the Crimpd sound level all the way down in the settings, I still find that about 50% of the time, my music will continue playing fully and the other 50 it will pause. A minor issue, but it would be great if the devs could take a look!

### 4/5 — One of the best training apps for climbing

*2023-08-30, version 3.9.0*

The app really is great. It has almost everything you need in a training app and the prebuilt training plans are a great way to get startet.

The only downside is, your not able to add your own exercises or workouts. You can only add custom fingerboard workouts.
If I’m doing some specific shoulder exercises to recover from a shoulder injury for example, I have no real way to track it properly or to add it to my training plan.

### 5/5 — Love the training plan!

*2022-10-05, version 3.4.0*

Been using the training plan for 2 seasons now, love getting everything planned out so I don’t have to think too much each week except to make adjustments around my work schedule.

### 5/5 — Simply the best!

*2022-07-25*

Fantastic app, exactly what you need to climb harder. Tons of workouts, easy to use, and Crimpd+ is a great resource to take a methodical approach to improving specific climbing skills.

### 5/5 — Great training app

*2022-05-15*

I have had the app for a while but started using it consistently the past couple months. It’s great. I have trouble keeping a scheduled planned training plan which this app offers, but it also offers training sessions and breaks them down by several categories so when I’m training I can pick what I want to train. Also it gives a break down of different areas I’ve trained. I highly recommend this app. It helps you measure, log and gives you exercises to do. I am a casual climber in my late 40’s and I have never climbed better. Get the app and subscribe.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth your money.

*2025-05-26, version 6.1.0*

Not worth your money.

### 1/5 — Lacking in quality, detail and UI/UX

*2023-04-09*

I am a month into regular use of this app. The programs are basic and straightforward, as are the exercises. It doesn’t take long to figure out the structure of all program templates (beginner to elite) as they are quite simple.

My low rating is due to the overwhelming lack of detail in these programs and glaring shortcuts in the app’s design.
Workout videos are poorly made and lacking in technique and instructional value. Details such as what constitutes a single rep in a multi-movement exercise is omitted. The timer has a countdown feature which is slightly and frustratingly off for timed rest and reps when there is little turnaround time. The scheduling template for workouts is clunky and not particularly straightforward. Users are forced to manage their own load by scheduling their workouts with very little guidance. On rest weeks half workout are often prescribed but the load/ reps in the workout will not adjust for that change in load.

Overall, the simplicity of the programs benefits beginners. However, the necessity and complexities of managing your workout load throughout the week makes this app very hard/potentially harmful for said beginner. This app design would be impressive if made by a hobbyist but otherwise is poorly designed. Please save your money and hire a qualified coach or invest in other training resources!

### 2/5 — Nervt

*2026-01-23, version 6.1.0*

### 2/5 — Please let us use log grades of climbs and reps IN/DURING THE WORKOUT

*2026-01-10*

Title says it all. The app is pretty good but major hiccups that are super annoying. For example you can’t log grades during workout. So on a workout where you climb 20 boulders you have to keep track of grades outside of the app. Same with sport/route climbing. It super annoying. Furthermore, you can’t change how may reps you do in a set for a workout in the workout. So, if you feel a little stronger and push out 12 reps instead of 10, you can’t change it till the very end. You also can’t put weight increases on finger workouts till the end. Overall the app is great for workout plans but lacks in the user interface, specifically with logging information in a workout. Please fix this, it’s kind of ridiculous

### 2/5 — Allow us to start training plans on any date

*2025-07-25*

I love the app but the biggest problem I have is that you can’t choose any day of the week to start a training plan. You should be able to pick any day instead of only Sunday’s. I’d give it five stars otherwise.

### 2/5 — Great but expensive

*2024-12-27*

I think the app is pretty good at what it does, my issue with it is that the premium (crimpd+) is quite expensive and I would expect a lot more content updates and new exercises for that price.

### 2/5 — Soso

*2024-06-30, version 5.3.0*

Unpaid content isn’t very inviting to spent actual money for it and some exercise seem sloppily structure.

### 2/5 — Nice design but lacks features

*2020-03-06, version 2.1.2*

One of the best designed climbing apps. But without beging able to modify the suggested workouts, i.e. number of reps and sets, rest time etc. and without the ability to add own exercises it’s use is pretty limited unfortunately.

### 3/5 — Good app, but lacking in some user interface

*2025-09-16*

I love the app, but there are few annoying things that I just can’t get over. For one, when you press the back button while doing a workout, it completely exits the workout without holding where you were, so you have to start over and figure out what rep you are on and so forth. Another thing that’s annoying is you can’t log the grades of climbs while doing workouts. You have to do it at the end of the workout in a tiny edit section. Let us log the grades of the climb while we are in the workout interface.

### 3/5 — Ottimi esercizi ma app non per principianti

*2025-08-04, version 6.1.0*

### 5/5 — Goated

*2025-05-15, version 6.1.0*

Honestly dont know why this isnt more popular. Crazy good app

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2025-04-15, version 6.0.3*

Great app and well looked after, even all these years later. Only issue I have is that the timer sounds kill my other audio on the phone. Never used to happen. Hopefully this can be fixed as I have to keep stopping what I’m doing to start my audio up again every minute or so. iPhone14 pro if that helps.

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective

*2024-12-04*

I was skeptical of paying for this, but the gains have spoken. I am officially climbing two grades higher after training with this app for half a year. I walk into the gym with a plan. I walk into the crag with a reserve of strength. I love how simple the app is, no extraneous fluff you have to click through. No stupid sounds and achievements or whatever. I love the descriptions given for various workouts, they are clear, educational, and motivating. Even now that I’ve memorized most of the workouts, I find the templates and scheduling feature to worth it enough to pay for. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love the Training Plans (One small gripe…)

*2024-02-14, version 5.1.0*

I’m aware the Crimpd app started out as a web app. Not sure what JS framework was utilized, my suspicion is React, and my theory is that it was perhaps ported over to React Native and compiled for mobile (I could be way off - purely conjecture). But my reason for bringing that up is that the gestures you would normally use for iOS to navigate the app do not match what is expected. Swiping from the left just brings up the side menu rather than returning to previous view. It seems like a carry over from the web application. This of course is just a minor annoyance in an otherwise awesome app that I use pretty much daily!

Thanks guys for the continued work on it and for making the training plans intuitive.

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2023-11-30, version 4.0.0*

Helped me go climb 6b+ in 6 months

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2023-08-23*

Very useful, training plan are efficient and well crafted, I could definitely feel some change in my climbing games :). Scheduling and skills templates are also really useful to work on specific areas in due time
I hope it will be developped a lot more!!

### 5/5 — Great exercise design!

*2023-07-26, version 3.8.0*

I tried the lactate curve test and now I can’t stop lactating! It’s fantastic for anyone looking to improve on or off the wall!

### 5/5 — Meilleure application d'entraienment existante

*2023-05-22*

Cette app est vraiment super bien faite, tu peux créer ton programme et organiser tes semaines comme tu veux. Tu as toute une partie analyse avec des données super précsises. Franchement elle vaut le détour.

### 5/5 — Bug

*2022-12-21*

The app d’ont function on my iPhone since 1 week

### 5/5 — Great training app for beginners

*2022-10-30*

Really good training app. Having a structured plan has certainly helped me improve my finger and core strength. I have been using crimpd plus and it’s been worth the cost, but you can still get a lot out of the app by just using the free stuff.

Recommendation:

Integrate with HealthKit and/or Strava. A lot of people cross train with other apps and having a central point to store a combined log (with detailed data) is nice.

Add the ability to connect to external heart rate sensors

Consider an Apple Watch app
