## What is CritLift?

CritLift started as a personal project. I'm a dad, a garage lifter, and a little bit of an "IT guy" who got tired of hopping between programs and spreadsheets. I wanted one app that checked every box: AI-generated programming, real auto-regulation, and progress tracking that feels like leveling up an RPG character. So I built it.

If there were no backend costs, this would be completely free. The plate calculator — using your actual plate inventory — always will be. I'm covering costs, not getting rich. If usage grows and costs stay manageable, I'll revisit pricing. For now I think it's fair for what you get.

One dev, one dad, one garage gym. I hope it works as well for you as it does for me.

TRAIN SMARTER

Follow your programmed sessions with guided set logging
Auto-regulation suggests weight adjustments based on your RPE in real time
Supersets and backoff sets — your program can pair exercises or vary weight across sets, just like a real coach would write it
Rest timer keeps your sessions on track
Warm-up set ladder automatically calculated from your plate inventory
"Last time" panel shows exactly what you lifted last session while you log
Manually edit sets, reps, weight, and exercise order any time — the program is yours to shape

ADAPT EVERY WEEK

Complete a quick weekly check-in after each training block
CritLift's AI analyzes your performance, flags stalled lifts, and adjusts target weights for the next week
Having a rough session? Bad Day Mode offers to scale your weights down so you can still finish strong
Your program evolves with you — no two blocks are the same

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

1RM tracking for every lift with personal best cards and strength trend charts
Automatic PR detection during workouts
Estimate your 1RM from any set using the Tuchscherer RPE table
Full training log with volume, avg RPE, and PR analytics per session
Weekly muscle-group volume tracker so you know exactly what you're training
Complete exercise history with strength trend charts for every movement
Import your history from Strong or Hevy, or export your CritLift data as CSV
Sync body weight from Apple Health — works automatically with Garmin, Apple Watch, and smart scales

BUILT FOR SERIOUS LIFTERS

Barbell plate calculator — always free, no subscription needed
Full equipment and plate inventory management
Exercise library with 240+ movements, fully customizable
Swap exercises in your program at any time, with smart suggestions based on similar muscle groups
Train in lbs or kg — switch anytime in Settings
Finish a workout with no signal — it saves to your phone and syncs automatically
Sign in with Apple for fast, secure access

CritLift is built around the same auto-regulation principles used by competitive powerlifters and strength coaches — now in your pocket and adapted by AI every single week.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-08-05

Added a rest timer to your Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island.
Now you can safely multitask during your breaks and keep track of your rest time.

Also in this one:

• Swapping an exercise now adjusts the reps too, not just the weight.
Three deadlifts and three dumbbell step-ups are not the same workout.

• Rebuilt on the latest iOS frameworks. You won't see anything different,
but it's the groundwork for what's coming next.

Keep liftin'

### 1.4 — 2026-07-30

Apple Health Sync
Import your body weight straight from Apple Health; works automatically with Garmin, Apple Watch, and any smart scale that syncs to Health.

Offline Mode
Lost signal mid-workout? No problem. Finish your session anywhere; it saves to your phone and syncs automatically once you're back online.

Import Your History
Switching from Strong or Hevy? Bring your workout history with you via CSV import.

ALSO NEW SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE

• Manual program editing; adjust sets, reps, weight, and RPE yourself, reorder exercises, or add/remove them
• Supersets — pair exercises to alternate between them with shared rest
• Backoff sets — programs can prescribe different weights across sets of the same exercise
• "Last time" panel — see exactly what you lifted last session, right where you log
• Full exercise history with strength trend charts
• Weekly muscle-group volume tracker
• Stall detection — your coach flags plateaued lifts and adjusts the plan
• "Bad day" mode — rough session? Scale weight down and finish strong
• kg support — switch units anytime in Settings
• Band color tracking for banded exercises
• Smarter exercise swaps — suggestions based on similar muscles, weight/reps seeded from your history

Plus dozens of bug fixes and stability improvements, including corrected plate calculator behavior, more accurate warm-up weights, and workout data reliability fixes.

### 1.3 — 2026-04-03

What's New in 1.3.0

Fixed an issue where the app would log you out after being in the background for a while
Improved sign-up flow: it's now clearer that a verification email is on its way and what to do next
Added a "Resend confirmation email" button on the verification screen
Fixed a bug where easy sets could incorrectly trigger a new personal record notification
Introductory pricing: get your first 3 months at $9.99/mo (regularly $14.99/mo)
Tightened up the app icon

### 1.1 — 2026-03-20

Sign in with Apple is here. The Training Log got a full rebuild; tap any session to see a full set-by-set breakdown, volume, avg RPE, and PR count. Export your entire history as a CSV anytime. Bug fixes and stability improvements under the hood.
