## What is CrossCam?

You only need one device to make and see 3D with CrossCam, but if you have two devices you can connect them using CrossCam to capture from both simultaneously.

CrossCam is the easiest way to make 3D pictures. The pictures you make with it are 3D just like 3D movies or VR but without any glasses or headset needed! To see the 3D, all you have to do is cross your eyes carefully and CrossCam even has a built in tutorial to teach you how to do it. CrossCam even lets you see your 3D picture before it's complete so you can tell how it will turn out in real time!

 - full and instant control over the overall depth and quality of the picture
 - automatic alignment of pictures
 - no need to have an expensive setup with two cameras
 - no more capturing in the field and just hoping it works out in post when you get back home
 - no more aligning with "ghosts" of previous captures
 - no more trudging through uploading to your computer to stitch, align, and process
 - built-in editing for fixing misalignment and preserving the stereo window
 - on screen help to make sure you get the images on the right sides every time

While developing CrossCam I've been bringing it along on several scenic trips and I'm sure glad I've had it with me. Thanks to CrossCam, the memories I have from those trips are now preserved in stunning 3D. I can confidently say it makes 3D photography a breeze and I hope it helps you too!

If you have any trouble, questions, or feedback, please email me@kra2008.com. I'm happy to coach, fix bugs, and hear your ideas.

### 5/5 — Simple and Effective

*2026-07-02, version 1.128*

My favorite kind of app: it does one simple thing and it does it really well. A pleasure to use. Thank you!

### 5/5 — High quality app, one of a kind

*2025-12-09, version 1.128*

Works as intended. What else is there to say?

### 5/5 — Has also a parallel view mode

*2025-06-30, version 1.128*

Works great

### 5/5 — totally awesome

*2025-03-23, version 1.128*

rest your eyes though! and switch between cross and parallel often to you don’t separate your brain hemispheres

### 2/5 — Useless

*2024-12-25, version 1.126*

This app doesn’t help to take a 3D picture.

### 5/5 — Very Good

*2024-08-31, version 1.125*

I’ve been very happy with Crosscam. Kevin’s a really good guy and obv a good developer. He’ll help you if needed. Just get it and find out how 3d photography completely changes your compositional eye.

### 5/5 — Works well with uncanny results

*2024-05-26, version 1.100*

I’m pretty amazed at how easy it was to take stereoscopic images with this app. It even works if you take two non-live photos (turn off Live Photo on each photo you’re using) offset by roughly the distance of your eyes focusing on the same object (keep it level!). You can then import the photo. Or you can take them in app using the guide and virtual level included! I’m very happy with impressive results.

### 5/5 — So good! One request

*2024-03-28, version 1.100*

This app is basically as good as it gets for capturing headset-free 3d. One question: how can I switch the camera to the 0.5 lens? Can you add that feature? My iPhone has 3 cameras available

### 5/5 — Great Results

*2023-11-09, version 1.100*

UPDATE: Updating my review to reflect the quick and very helpful response from the developer that addressed the issues I originally mentioned. This app helps to produce excellent stereo images and is easy to use. I use the app all the time and would recommend it for stereo photographers who want to quickly capture subjects with their phone.

### 3/5 — Great Results but Buggy

*2023-11-06*

This app helps to produce excellent stereo images and is easy to use. However, since updating to the latest version, every time I log in, the welcome screen pops up asking if I want to see the tutorial on viewing techniques. I have not found a way to disable this and this was not an issue before updating. Then, after clicking “no” to the viewing techniques tutorial, a “How to Use CrossCam” screen pops up every time. This is very annoying as it delays the ability to start taking pictures by a couple of seconds each time you use the app. I mostly use this as a spontaneous point-and-shoot, so even a momentary delay could cause me to miss the shot entirely.

Also, I wish this app could utilize all three cameras on my iPhone 14 Pro and utilize the zoom function. I feel somewhat limited in my composition of stereos by being stuck with the main camera on 1x zoom. Sometimes I find myself leaving the app and using my regular camera app to zoom in / out and aligning the images manually later. It would be much easier and more conviennent if the app could make use of all the lenses and zoom available in my regular camera app.

Finally, I find that the app freezes / crashes frequently if I lock the screen with the app open or if I rotate back and forth between portrait and landscape modes. Each time this happens, I have to force close the app and reopen, which does cause delay in shooting.

Overall, I use the app all the time and would recommend it for stereo photographers who want to quickly capture subjects with their phone, but the experience could be better and functionality improved even more.

**Developer response:** Hi BValvs,

Thanks for letting me know about the bug you were facing with the welcome popup. I just released a new version today that should fix that for you. You'll see the popup one last time and then no more. Please reach out to me if you find any other issues by emailing me@kra2008.com. Thanks!

With regards to using multiple cameras - it's actually a bug if you AREN'T able to use all three. If you tap the little camera icon with the swirly arrows in the upper right camera it SHOULD switch between all available cameras in succession. If it isn't doing that, please email me@kra2008.com so we can try some test versions and I can get you a version that lets you do this. I don't have an iPhone with multiple cameras on it and Apple doesn't allow cameras to work on the simulators so the implementation was just my best guess.

As far as digital zoom goes (not optical zoom), CrossCam does let you do this using the cropping functionality. It doesn't operate on all sides at the same time as a digital zoom would do, but the end result is exactly the same, and I personally think it's even better than a digital zoom in real time because you can take as much time as you want to adjust afterwards rather than getting stuck with whatever was originally captured. Again, please email me@kra2008.com if you'd like me to explain that a little more. It can be confusing.

I'll look more into the issue with locking and unlocking and switching orientations. I haven't been experiencing that myself but I'll really hammer the thing and see if I can get some test results. Thanks again for letting me know.

Please consider updating your review with the fixed version, and do reach out so we can work on these other issues.

Thanks,
Kevin
