## What is Crossline?

Crossline is a shot-planning tool for anyone blocking a scene before the camera rolls.

Lay out your floor plan: walls, furniture, performers, cameras, lights, and drag setups into place. A live preview shows exactly what each camera will frame, at the lens and height you've chosen, before you've committed anyone's time to it.

Crossline tracks your screen direction as you work. Cross the 180-degree line without a bridging shot and it tells you, by name, which pair of setups is the problem, not just that something, somewhere, might cut wrong.

When you're ready to move from plan to picture:

• Export a written prompt optimised for an AI image tool. Every frame carries style, setting, characters, set dressing, camera, lens, light and who's looking where, with screen direction built into the description, so the model can't quietly mirror your composition and reverse the scene. Delivered as a paste-in-order brief for tools that keep context between prompts, or as one self-contained prompt per frame for anything with no memory between requests.

• Export a plain-language shot list for a human illustrator instead. No AI required. Available in English, Spanish, French and German.

• Export the board as a printable PDF, six frames a page, with shot size, lens and height noted under each one.

• Bring illustrated frames back in, mark up the camera moves, and print or export the finished storyboard.

• Export every setup as structured data, for whatever you build next.

Planning, the line checks and the coverage report are free, and always will be. Exporting is a single one-off purchase. There is no subscription.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.4.2 — 2026-10-18

What’s new in Crossline 1.4

• Generate storyboard pictures in the app. Add your own Google Gemini or OpenAI API key, then generate a single panel or fill every empty panel at once. The picture is billed to your own account; Crossline adds nothing.
• Eyes and eyelines. Choose where each performer looks — another performer, an object, the lens or their own hands — and what their eyes are doing: rolling, wide, narrowed, a sideways glance and more. Apply a look to every beat in one tap.
• Props in hand. Give a performer a prop for a beat and choose which hand. It travels with them and is described the same way in every frame.
• My props. Save a prop with its size, height and description, and reuse it in every project.
• Remove a performer from a scene. They stay in your cast and in your other scenes.
• Arrange the storyboard. Drag panels into the order you want to present them, and untick frames to leave them out, without touching your cut order or continuity checks.
• Import pictures in order. Pick a batch of generated frames and they fill the empty panels in board order, or turn on Replace to overwrite a board you’ve regenerated.
• Eyelines are drawn on the plan, and frame schematics now point at what each person is actually looking at.
• See the exact AI prompt for any storyboard panel, and copy it.
• Sharper AI prompts: every face is given a clear eyeline, looks at people out of shot name the side of frame, and head turns are spelled out.
• Clearer messages when a key, billing or account verification needs attention.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-18

Squashed some bugs and improved how camera data is exported for storyboard creation. You can now tap on storyboard frames to add more detailed description of what the actor is doing.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-10

Fixes an issue where the export unlock purchase could fail to complete.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-09

No release notes.
