### 4/5 — Good game but has a few bugs

*2015-01-07*

The game is fun and you always want to keep exploring more of the dungeon. The only bad thing is that occasionally the game will freeze when you load the next level of the dungeon. Even after shutting down the app and loading the same character it will freeze again so you have to start a new character. Please fix this bug!

### 3/5 — Good but buggy

*2014-06-30*

The game, it's premise and execution are great fun. Unfortunately, it suffers from a bug that causes permanent freezes to your current playthrough, forcing you to start a new one. No matter how far into the game you are, the deleted character simply ceases to have ever existed.

In a game that is based on leveling up your character and striving for a high score, this is a pretty crushing bug. Would rate it five stars except for this game-breaking issue.

### 4/5 — Decent combo

*2014-05-10*

Pretty much what you'd expect from a combination dungeon crawler / crossword puzzler. I'd like to see heaps more words and the addition of themed dungeons - eg, levels dedicated to movie-related words, world leaders / state capitals, music, science, literature, etc. At the moment there are too few words in general, and a few too many specialised scientific ("ICOSAHERDRON") and historic ("ACTIUM") words.

### 4/5 — I hate the proper nouns

*2014-04-11, version 1.1*

Just memorize all the European capitals and you have about 90% of the hard words solved for you.

### 4/5 — fun and interesting game

*2014-04-06*

My only gripe with this game is once you get to the mid to high 30s in dungeon or puzzle level all the words are repeated and furthermore it doesn't really matter what letter you guess since usually any guess will kill the enemy and yield no damage to you. Before you get to this point however, it's a pretty fun and novel game.

### 3/5 — Ok

*2013-11-20, version 1.0.1*

I wish entering words was faster. Also stinks to lose a game when you didn't type any words wrong.

### 3/5 — OK.

*2012-11-08*

Not bad. Moving through the maze is a bit of a slog, and despite all the RPG trimmings, I don't feel like I'm doing battle or "on a quest"; I'm just solving crosswords, one square at a time.

### 4/5 — Some Cross Words

*2012-11-08*

A good game mixing rpg elements with crosswords. Occasional crashes and definitely needs more vocabulary since you see the same words repeated too often. But I would definitely recommend you check it out.

Edit: Frequently crashes (i.e every 15 minutes or so) and no challenge past about level 20 due to repeating words.

Edit: Why is there still no rating for this game? It's been on the AppStore with reviews for over 2 weeks, anyone?

### 3/5 — Is it really an RPG

*2012-11-04*

On the first impact it seems like its an RPG/puzzle crossover. But after playing it for a while I can't say so. Role playing mechanics felt very blurry and like they aren't even there. Great puzzle game tho'

### 3/5 — Continually crashes

*2012-11-02, version 1.0*

Get about 80% of the puzzle done then crashes on a random square. Extremely frustrating when getting that far takes a lot of time at higher levels. Fun otherwise

### 2/5 — Deleted

*2012-10-29, version 1.0*

For some reason, in the few times I played this game, I received the same clues multiple times. Some clues do not make sense (possibly a translation error?). I decided to completely obliterate the dungeon and therefore deleted the game.

NOT RECOMMENDED

### 1/5 — Русский язык!?

*2019-10-27*

Как включить Русский язык????

### 1/5 — Awesome but buggy

*2015-01-04*

I really enjoy this game. A little more word or class a variety would be cool but it's great just as it is. However it has a show stopping bug. It will frequently go to a black screen when you progress to the next level and when that happens there's nothing you can do to fix it except start a new game. I could easily give this game five stars if it were possible to continue progressing.

### 1/5 — Doesn't start when you continue your game

*2014-06-30, version 1.1.2*

This would be a great game if it wasn't for the game breaking bug that doesn't let you continue your game. What happens is that you boot the game up and then a black screen appears and stays. That's it. So every time you want to play, after your first game, you have to delete the app and redownload it in order to play.

### 1/5 — Lame

*2013-03-13, version 1.0.1*

Potentially good idea with horrible implementation. The game is boring and pointless. Reroll

### 1/5 — Fails at both genres.

*2013-01-28*

This game has little in the way of charm, which it desperately needs to distract the player from the fact it's very dull as an "RPG" (it presents nothing in the way of interesting story, character options, or atmosphere), nor does it satisfy as a puzzle game (there is little tangible award for completing words aside from extra experience points, which is just dull grinding after a few stages). Cheap deaths are common due to unavoidable enemies with first strike and ranged attacks. I really want my money back.

### 1/5 — good concept, but...

*2012-12-21, version 1.0.1*

good aesthetics, poor design. Frustrating to die to cheap 'first hits' from monsters, not through fault or error of the player.

### 1/5 — .....

*2012-10-25, version 1.0*

Its game over when u guess wrongly and hp hits 0.
Then u start from THE BEGINNING.. And choose character and name it.
At times its just wild guessing for answers.
Rpg factor not enough.. More fun if u can still get to build ur character even if u die.
Game is Definitely not worth this price for me.

### 2/5 — Great but buggy

*2013-02-16, version 1.0.1*

Fun but loses saves and crashes too often fix and it would get 5 stars IMO

### 2/5 — Good but buggy

*2013-01-01*

iPhone 4S, iOS 6, not jailbroken, and the game is good - but just resumed on level 38 and it said 'Level 1' with 'question' for down and 'question' for across and a totally black screen.

Have experienced a few crashes as well. Game resumes at beginning of level when this happens.

Good game - just poor game save/resume capability (and a few bad crashes).

### 2/5 — Good idea but underdeveloped

*2012-10-31, version 1.0*

Great fun at first, it's a good mix of crosswords and levelling up your character...but the crosswords are pretty easy and the clues start to repeat themselves very quickly. After about 3 times through I had seen every clue, and they do nothing but repeat themselves level after level. Once you know all the clues it's a snooze.

### 5/5 — Crossword Dungeon

*2023-08-05*

Just discovered this little gem! On the iPhone and iPad works great! Fun in bite size pieces or chunks!

### 5/5 — Very enjoyable.

*2015-04-04, version 1.1.2*

Great game, well made, interesting concept, very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend picking this one up. You will not regret it.

### 5/5 — Awesome game!

*2014-06-11, version 1.1.1*

This game is fun and unique. It's great that there are no IAP and doesn't waste my data with crappy advertisements. Please keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Great design. Buy.

*2014-06-01, version 1.1.1*

The update is sound. It plays well as a rogue crossword game. Get it!

Request for next update:

I would still like to see the word bank be connected to a larger word database.

Just a request to
increase replay value.

NY Times crossword, for example.

### 5/5 — Sense of Humor

*2014-04-03, version 1.1*

Difficulty scales as well and it just has fun ideas like your stealth rating randomly revealing letters in the dungeon.

### 5/5 — Really Clever

*2014-04-02, version 1.1*

This is a really clever and fun game!

I love the game and hope to see it get more updates.

### 5/5 — very good

I'm enjoying this quite a bit. This is a nerdy little crossword puzzle with roguelike elements (permadeth, randomized levels). Each cell is a potential battlefield where your character might fight an enemy; you fight by choosing from a selection of letters. Some of these letters have special effects (extra XP, HP restoration, extra damage), so you are not always interested in choosing the correct letter for the clue. Also, if you don't know the answer --say you are bad with recognizing actor names-- you have something to do other than guess blindly.

As you gather XP from tiles and battles, you can give your character status upgrades, allowing you to battle more effectively -- useful, as the "dungeons" (groups of clues) get increasingly more difficult. I think I have finally hit my stride with the Barbarian; next game I'll play with one of the other two classes.

There are some problems with the game. First, it crashes a great deal. Fortunately the game autosaves at the beginning of a dungeon so you don't lose your whole game. Still, if the game crashes when you are at the end of, say, dungeon 50, you lose a lot of progress. Also, I had my game crash as I simultaneously leveled up and finished a level; the end result was that I did not get to distribute my stat point. :[

There's is an specific clue that does not appear; its answer is "fjordfutile".

I appreciate the nerdy flavor of the clues and answers, but there really need to be more of them. I've only played a few hours and I rarely see anything new any more. You could probably crowdsource this.

It'd be really nice to see some Game Center leaderboards!

All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I definitely recommend!

### 5/5 — Great concept, bugs worked out

*2012-12-07*

With this update I can now wholeheartedly recommend this unique take on puzzles and roguelikes.

Different classes and with that, strategies and choices. The number of words could use some more work but the developer has been adding more and I am fine with that.
