Among its most egregious shortcomings are nonsensical ‘solutions’ like “Although is not the same length as the one you specified, it is a *probable* solution to the provided clue.” I got these over 50% of the time of the several dozen NY Times clues l tried. For many of these you have to provide so many letters from the crosses that the solution becomes obvious to you. Bottom line: There’s not much ‘intelligence’ going on here - it’s more like a dictionary search, or built upon the much more useful Onelook.com web site.
