It’s nice to know where to point our antennas. It would be great if you could use built in gyroscope to make an active pointer to a particular location. That way it doesn’t matter how you point your phone it will always point that direction. We’ll see how this develops. ### 4/5 — Handy, but Quirky *2022-09-30, version 1.8* Search function to find an address to navigate to is less intuitive than I’d like. Location name goes away when I tap it so I can’t long press and paste words into it. Can’t seem to search the map itself for an address. Have to go some weird way around to do it. Couple of niggles 1) why isn’t it available for Apple Watch- would be a more useful platform. 2) why does interference matter ? It's fun and essential ### 5/5 — Essential Navigation App for Travellers *2016-10-18, version 1.6.6.2* Used it for years and feeling very guilty for not reviewing before! This app lets me take an instant fix of my current location and get back there again EVEN IF I'M OFFLINE!!! Then it plots all my fixes on a Google-map like map. I can map out the important points in an unfamiliar new town quickly and clearly in a way that NO OTHER APP CAN! I'm reviewing now because I'm in Fes (Morocco); the single most confusing town on earth, having the biggest and oldest medina (ancient city of narrow walkways and markets) in the world. This app gives me simple OFFLINE method to find everywhere I need. I can even search for points on the wifi at the hotel, fix them as a memory and leave the wifi of the hotel to be guided straight there. The brilliance and simplicity of this app must make it unique and an absolute must for the international traveller. 5 Stars 99% (1% off for not keeping the non-essential map in the buffer for recalling offline, but NOT necessary for this apps navigation method). Genius app which deserves to be very famous and in Apple's 'Essentials' category. ### 4/5 — Great app but having some glitches lately *2016-10-05, version 1.6.6.2* This app is generally good but it's been opening spontaneously after unlocking my phone. Once this is fixed I'll give it a five star rating! ### 3/5 — I want to love it... *2016-08-10, version 1.6.6.2* But cannot stop the annoying and distracting warnings no matter what I do. "Move away from interference" (I'm in a park miles from any interference... what could this mean?) followed by "wave in figure-of-eight motion to calibrate compass" - to which no amount of waving in any kind of figure-of-eight motion on any axis has any effect. These warnings just alternate and cannot be dismissed. ### 5/5 — Great for learning a place while going where you're going *2016-05-29, version 1.6.6.2* A really nice compromise between a random walk and a prescribed route. Lends itself to discovery. Very romantic. ### 5/5 — Make mundane into an adventure *2016-01-31, version 1.6.6.2* I got this to accompany the book Microadventures - to turn mundane trips in to little adventures by allowing intuition to define how I follow a general direction rather than following a map. This allows for serendipity to provide new experiences from the surroundings we take for granted. Easy to add waypoints. Cheap to upgrade. ### 5/5 — Very unique nav app *2015-08-02, version 1.6.6.2* Great for walking in cities, out in the woods, or even finding where you parked. It gives a easy to read distance and heading to your destination. It also clearly displays the coordinates of your current location, which is often hard to find if present at all on other apps. ### 5/5 — Does one thing well *2015-07-11, version 1.6.6.2* Have you ever parked your car in a large car park and wondered where it was? Or in a theme park and wanted to mark a spot? Or been on a hike and wanted to record a waypoint to return to? This app lets you do this extremely simply but has 2 killer features that makes it indispensable. 1. It simply tells you how far you are from a bookmarked spot and the direction 2. It works completely off line, so in the hills, no problem, in a foreign country with no data plan or wifi, no problem I use it hiking where mobile signal can be dodgy. Or abroad to mark our hotel, the unfamiliar shopping centres etc. It's great for young kids as you can bookmark a spot for them to meet you if they get lost in a festival or a park, and they love navigating you back to the car / train station etc with it. It does have a maps feature and this can be handy but, to be honest I just use the distance and direction mode ### 4/5 — I was being an idiot! *2015-01-07, version 1.6* After fiddling around for a while I got it all working...my error and after being disappointed at first I am now a big fan. It's also nice to see in what direction and how far things are from you. Seriously great app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No longer works with What3words *2019-06-30, version 1.7.1* I used to love this app as it was great to use with what3words addresses. Unfortunately this seems to no longer work. If a search is made for a what3words address it tries to find it then says “No result”. ### 1/5 — Needs work *2018-01-07, version 1.6.6.2* This is such a great concept and beautiful looking app that I hate to pass judgement. But I’ve tried it out on two trips to London and find it absolutely useless and misleading. Also, the method of typing in where you want to go is completely unintuitive. Overall: a beautiful concept and a triumph of style over substance. But I do want it to work / please fix it guys! I’m going back to my wristband compass. Try Ulmon City map app, nowhere near so stylish as Crow but at least it’s reliable. ### 1/5 — Useless unless you go somewhere first *2015-07-14, version 1.6.6.2* You cannot enter an address and use that as the point you want to go to. Why would you build a nav app if you can't enter your destination? When it does, it's generally out by at least 90 degrees, and up to 1.5 miles. Also won't change to metric units. Far better nav apps out there. I'm standing at a saved location and apparently I'm 1.26 miles and 105 degrees away. Total rubbish. Until they fix this glaring problem, it's just a 10 second piece of eye-candy and then deleted. I simply put the location my tower is and line up north to get a very accurate direction. I also like that this app doesn’t collect information about you. Thanks! 5 star review. It’s in the name. 😂 ### 5/5 — Fantastic Navigational App *2023-02-25, version 1.8.2* Really blown away at what a smooth clean interface and experience the develop created in Crowsflight. There is something very grounding with being able to orient or more importantly re-orient yourself in certain directions! Beautifully executed. I love this very simple pointing app. If you are walking in a strange city and need to find an address other nav tools are a pain because you can’t get the map oriented until you start traveling. This simply points to where you want to be and tells you how far. I also love being able to casually hike knowing that getting back to my car is not going to be a problem.
