## What is Crucible for Plex?

Crucible is a native client for your Plex Media Server on iPhone and Apple TV. It is built to feel like part of the system: the system player, native menus and context menus, Liquid Glass on the newest software, and a library that opens exactly where you left off.

PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF
Home opens on a Resume hero, then Continue Watching, Up Next and Recently Added. Library grids have filters for Unwatched and In Progress, genre and sort, an A–Z scrubber and folder browsing for unindexed content. Search groups results by type with a Top Result.

A PLAYER THAT RESPECTS YOUR TIME
Skip Intro and Skip Credits from Plex markers, audio and subtitle menus, adjustable speed, lock screen controls and Up Next that rolls the next episode as the credits start. On iPhone: Picture-in-Picture and background audio. Direct play when your device can handle the file, automatic transcoding when it can't.

MADE FOR THE COUCH
The Apple TV app is built for the Siri Remote: a cinematic Home that follows focus, one tab per library, native context menus, search, and Top Shelf with Continue Watching and Up Next. Liquid Glass on tvOS 26.

TAKE IT OFFLINE
On iPhone, download movies, seasons or single episodes in the quality you pick. Transfers continue in the background, stay on Wi-Fi by default and show a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Offline playback uses the same player.

KNOW YOUR VIEWING
Watch History grouped by day, Statistics with streaks, heatmaps, binges and taste built from your own Plex history, and a Year in Review poster you can share.

FREE TO USE, CRUCIBLE PRO TO GO FURTHER
Browsing, search and playback are free on iPhone and Apple TV, and so is the Statistics view for the last week. Crucible Pro unlocks unlimited offline downloads, the full Statistics screen with every range and library filter, the Year in Review poster and Top Shelf. Pay once for lifetime access, or subscribe yearly with a 14-day free trial. One purchase covers iPhone and Apple TV, and Family Sharing is on.

TRY IT WITHOUT A SERVER
No Plex server yet? Choose Try the demo on the welcome screen to explore a fictional library with everything unlocked, guided by a short tour.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account with us, no ads, no analytics. Crucible talks only to plex.tv and the server you choose.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.1.3 — 2026-10-17

Finds your server on Tailscale, and fixes for Crucible Pro and search.

- On Tailscale, Crucible now finds your Plex server by itself after you sign in, even when plex.tv lists no route to it, and keeps that route so leaving home Wi-Fi falls back to your tailnet
- When a server can't be reached, the address screen lists what is likely wrong (Tailscale off, Local Network access, a name that matches no tailnet machine) and searches again when you come back from the Tailscale app
- Settings, Server, Tailscale Search lets you add a Tailscale token to search your tailnet for a server that isn't named like its Plex server
- If you already own Crucible Pro, See Crucible Pro in the demo tour and the demo's closing offer now open your plan instead of a purchase sheet that closed at once, and the closing offer no longer appears at all
- The Crucible Pro purchase screen lets you choose either plan: tapping the yearly plan selects it
- Search no longer swaps in the results of a longer search after you go back to a shorter one

### 2.1.1 — 2026-10-16

Fixes for Crucible Pro and search.

- The Crucible Pro screen now lets you choose either plan: tapping the yearly plan selects it, with its free trial and renewal terms
- Search keeps its results in step with the text: going back to a shorter search no longer swaps in the results of the longer one
- An episode's top search result now names the episode as well as its show
- In the demo, the Crucible Pro offer at the end of the tour waits until you are done typing instead of covering the search keyboard, and demo search lists the best match first

### 2.1.0 — 2026-10-15
