## What is Crux Cycling?

Crux turns FIT ride files into detailed cycling analysis, training trends and practical planning tools — entirely on your iPhone. No account required. Crux never uploads your rides.

AUTOMATIC IMPORT
Connect your free intervals.icu account once and new rides appear in Crux by themselves — original .fit files from Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift, Hammerhead, COROS and more, with your last five years of rides brought in on first connect and no duplicates (an activity-export ZIP covers anything older). Crux downloads directly from intervals.icu to your iPhone; it still never uploads your rides anywhere.

RIDES
Import FIT activity files — or an entire ZIP archive. Explore elevation and ride metrics on an interactive chart you can pan, scrub and zoom. Detect climbs automatically, inspect time in gear and power curves, and calculate key training metrics — weighted power, intensity and training load (the metrics many riders know as NP®, IF® and TSS®). Indoor and trainer workouts get a power-first chart, a lap-by-lap table and rep-drift analysis — see your heart rate creep across matched intervals.

Record perceived effort and fuelling. For rides without power data, Crux estimates a comparable training load from duration and effort.

PALMARÈS
Every climb you've ever ridden, matched across rides into one record: every attempt, your personal records, and a per-climb trend that shows whether you're getting faster. Name your local climbs, and new PRs surface the moment a ride is imported.

PERFORMANCE
See trends across your entire ride library: best-effort power over any date range in watts or W/kg, power and heart-rate zones, and fitness, fatigue and form. Crux estimates your FTP from evidence, not a black box: hold a genuinely steady 35–75 minute effort and that becomes your FTP — a demonstration, not a model, with the time you held it. Otherwise a steady 25–35 minute effort is projected conservatively, or a Critical Power fit of your best efforts decides. Every input is on show — the efforts it used, the model, its confidence — plus a "how long could you hold X watts?" explorer and your FTP's journey over time with an honest trend. Crux keeps a dated history of your FTP, weight and heart-rate settings, so each ride is scored using the values in effect on the ride date. Edit a past value and every affected ride is recalculated.

DURABILITY
Your power curve when you're already deep into a ride. Compare fresh against after 500–2,500 kJ of work — how much of your 1-, 5- and 20-minute power you keep — and open the ride behind every number.

GARAGE
Save bikes with complete 1× and 2× drivetrain configurations, track each bike's odometer, and keep a service history with on-device reminders when maintenance is due or overdue.

TOOLS
Compare drivetrains with a visual gear-range chart. Calculate gear ratios, gear inches, development, speed at cadence, speed versus power, estimated climb time and tyre pressure.

COURSES
Import GPX routes and plan ahead with a route map, named climbs and estimated climb times at your target effort. Then build a race strategy: declare your bottles, gels, chews, stops and bag drops, and Crux compiles an hour-by-hour plan and audits it — carb rate, dry spells, caffeine, exactly what to pack in each bag. Race strategy is a fresh release we're actively shaping with rider feedback.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Crux has no advertising or cross-app tracking. It never uploads your rides, training data or bike details — they stay on your iPhone, and there's nothing for us to sell or share. Analysis and storage happen on your device.

NP, IF and TSS are trademarks of TrainingPeaks, LLC. Crux is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TrainingPeaks.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-07-27

NEW — TRAINING STATUS YOU CAN EXPLORE
Fitness, fatigue and form is now a chart you can work: 90 days, 6 months, 12 months or your whole history, pan and pinch to any window, and tap a day to read its exact numbers.

NEW — ZOOM THAT MEANS SOMETHING
Tap a lap on a ride chart to zoom straight to it, with the axis refitting so the detail shows instead of flattening out. Choose how much smoothing you want — as recorded, 3s, 10s, 30s or 1m — and double-tap to reset.

NEW — AEROBIC DECOUPLING
How far your heart rate drifted for the same power across a ride: a straight read on aerobic durability.

NEW — WEEKLY & MONTHLY TOTALS
Time, distance and load on the home screen, measured against the same point last week.

NEW — INDOOR & SMART BIKES
Proper handling for smart-bike rides, and rides recorded without power now get a training load estimated from heart rate.

SHARPER WORKOUT ANALYSIS
Matched reps and matched recoveries are named in the same zone language you use, stepped over-unders get called out, and a stepped warm-up no longer counts as a work interval.

BETTER RACE PLANS
Fluid demand now ramps as the day warms up, every stop spells out how to mix and which bottle to empty first, and you can choose which carrier holds your late caffeine.

GARAGE
Chainrings, cassettes and tyre widths moved from walls of chips to a single row and a picker.

FIXES
Crux imports bike rides only, so a Garmin export full of runs no longer fills your library — and anything that already slipped in is cleaned up. Correct lap boundaries on smart-recorded rides with long pauses. Opening a file from the Files app on a cold start now works. Weekly time reads "7h 20m" instead of a ride clock.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-07-20

NEW — AUTOMATIC RIDE IMPORT
Connect your free intervals.icu account once (Settings → Connected services) and rides from Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift, Hammerhead, COROS and more appear in Crux by themselves: original files, your last five years on first connect, no duplicates.

NEW — RACE STRATEGY
Declare how you'll fuel a course (bottles, gels, chews, stops, bag drops) and Crux compiles an hour-by-hour plan and audits it: carb rate, dry spells, caffeine, exactly what to pack in each bag. This one is fresh out of the workshop — we're shaping it with rider feedback, so tell us what your race needs.

NEW — INDOOR WORKOUT ANALYSIS
Lap markers and a laps table on every workout, matched-rep detection with heart-rate and cadence drift across reps, and a power-first chart for trainer rides.

Plus reliability improvements throughout.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-11

New: your Palmarès — every climb you've ridden, matched across rides. Every attempt, your PRs, and whether you're getting faster. New: an honest FTP estimate — hold a genuinely steady 35–75 minute effort and that becomes your FTP (Crux shows how long you held it), backed by a Critical Power model, a "how long could you hold X watts?" explorer, and your FTP's journey over time. New: Durability — how much of your fresh power you keep when you're 1,500 kJ deep into a ride. Plus: time-based service intervals, try-a-setup gear comparisons, an exclude-from-records toggle, a ride share card, and reliability improvements throughout.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-04

Under-the-hood improvements.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-07-01

No release notes.
