I know there are some terrible reviews for this app. All I can say is that 'results may vary', because this thing worked like a charm when my boy was an infant. 
At first, I thought it was crap, because it so often said 'hungry'. Even right after he ate. But then we realized (with a doctor's help) that he wasn't eating enough. When we upped his food intake, the app really shined. 
It was accurate I'd say 90% of the time. I don't know HOW it works, but it does. And I thank the developers.

当たっていることが多いと思います。生後すぐはダメですが、何で泣いているのかわからない時に重宝します。
先日、夜中に何度も起きたので、このアプリで調べると〝不快〝でした。11ヶ月なのでガスでは無いと思っていましたが、嫁さんが縦抱きでトントンするとゲップが！その後、ぐっすり寝てくれました。

Tried this several times (following the guidance on distance, other noise etc) and it kept saying it couldn't translate my baby's cries. Waste of time and money. Do not buy this.

空腹の、対処方法開いたら、飢餓って。。。しかも中国語っぽい字体で出る。なんかそのくらいちゃんとしとけやって思う。翻訳については、同じ時に何回か試して違う結果が出たのであまり当てにならないような気がしちゃいました。これで600円はボッタクリだわ。

ちゃんと周りを静かにしているのに、なかなか泣き声を読み込まないことがあります。

一颗星都不想给！一点也不准还扣我40块！这是我买过的最贵但是没有一点参考价值的app！不知道为什么现在app store里面没有把收费和免费app区分开来，付费的app也不见标价！感觉到处是坑！而且这app不能选择语言，下载下来就是中文版，但是貌似通过软件直接翻译的，有些句子翻得goupi不通！大家不要再踩坑了！

I get a lot of hungries and translation fail messages. Will get hungry after a feed when she’s totally disinterested in more milk. This morning tried again and got bored when she was definitely hungry.

5ヶ月の娘、たまに「つまんない」と言っているように「ん〜ん！ん〜…ん！」と言っていたのですが、先ほど購入して娘の声を聞き撮らせてみると、なんと「退屈」と出ました！やっぱり間違いなかったんだと自分の中で盛り上がり、余計に我が子が可愛く思うように…(^_^;)
それくらい面白いです！
お値段高いですけど…

I am assuming those of you who can't get this to work aren't too tech savvy!  Works like a charm every time for my 5-month old....the suggestions are common sense but good to see in a pinch when you have a crying baby!  Definitely recommended for first-time parents that ARE tech savvy.

I bought this app last month, after a friend of mine recommended it to me. It took me a while to get used to place it at the right distance, but after that, it has always got it right, with the only exceptions being the occasions when there was some background noise. I even was trying it with my friends' babies and, hard to believe for them, it was always right!!! I'm still impressed by it's accuracy, and so are my friends!! And so will be you if you have the chance to try it! Really awesome.

（うっかりミスっちゃって、前のバージョンにレビューしちゃったので、改めて今のバージョンに、レビューしなおします。）
うちの子は生後３カ月。初めての子なので、あたしもなんで泣いているのかがわからないことがほとんど。親も近くにいないので、この子が泣いた時に、どうしたら、良いのかわからないので、ほんとこっちが泣きたくなる。だんなが、こんなアプリがでたみたいと、ヤフー・ニュースで見つけてきたんで、値段も安かったし、ちょっと試してみた。ちょうどおっぱいをあげたばかりだったけど、判定は「空腹」。まじ？と思いつつ、またおっぱいをあげたら、泣きやんだョ。びっくり！でも、たまたまあたった、ってこともあるから、また試してみたら、
今度は「眠気」ときた。バージョン1.2に追加された機能としてアドバイスにあるリンクから、子守唄を聞かせたら、ちゃんと落ち着いて、寝てくれたョ。これは使えるョ！！子によって、個人差もあるかもしれないけど、あたし的には、オススメ！します。絶対買い！！!

Com apenas dois dias de uso do app, já foi possível perceber que ele realmente funciona. Após alimentar minha filhinha de 4 meses, jamais iria imaginar que estava chorando de fome.            Perderia um tempão tentando sanar o choro com outras coisas. Indicou também disconforto. Estava certo. Indicou sono, colocamos no berço, não foi necessário nem ninar... Como pontos a melhorar: as vezes é necessário rodar várias vezes o start para indicar algo; a distância de captação do som deve ser curta, e isso as vezes atrapalha pois a nenêm fica olhando o iPhone e para de chorar para prestar atenção no aparelho.
