## What is CrypTool?

This is the official app of CrypTool, an organization that is supposed to explain and implement ciphers in several programming languages, to help people understand and create new ciphers. We don't teach security but the art of hiding the content of a message.

With this app, you'll be able to learn cryptography in a fun way, by completing challenges that are just the right level to make you think a little bit.

Most of our ciphers are already implemented in this app, and we'll keep implementing new ones.

Our app is not, in any case, a way of communicating securely, security is not our goal. We simply teach the basics, and we let users experiment with ciphers.

## Key features

- Learn cryptography concepts
- Implement ciphers in programming languages
- Complete interactive challenges
- Experiment with message concealment
- Explore various implemented ciphers

### 3/5 — Interesting and fun to use

*2024-02-01*

Great choices of encryptions to learn but I honestly would enjoy this more if there was an option to use and learn the bifid cipher

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work For iPhone 12

*2022-08-05, version 2.0.1*

Can’t copy the encrypted text for some reason on iPhone. The text gets encrypted but its impossible to copy the encrypted text. Probably a simple fix but super annoying and is making the app useless

### 1/5 — Cipher portion unusable on smaller iOS device like iPod touch 7th gen

*2020-06-30, version 2.0.1*

This review is based on observations made while running the app on an iPod touch 7th gen running iOS 13.5.1. The problem described likely occurs on all iOS devices with an equivalent display size.

While using the encryption portion of the app (ciphers), all the controls overlap each other making it entirely impossible to use.

After some exchanges, the dev is simply ignoring the problem ...

I wish I could downgrade.
The previous version was working just fine ...

### 3/5 — Not sure what's going on

*2020-03-07*

I really like what's provided on this app, the only problem is when I type in the correct answer it doesn't do anything. I’ve checked my answers with the provided cipher section and they are right, but it doesn't do anything when I type it into the answer bar. Weirdly enough it did tell me I was right for the emoji one, just none of the others. If this gets fixed I will change my review to five stars because it is a great app.

**Developer response:** Sorry for the late answer, but it's now fixed. Thank you for letting us know.
