Equally important: the support is fantastic. Several times over the years I have had issues, and have always received extremely prompt, helpful advice. Most recently, Simon even helped by showing me what was wrong with my .csv database file - even though (obviously) CSV Touch wasn't remotely at fault (it was a longstanding problem with Excel). Highest recommendation. ### 4/5 — CVS Touch *2014-01-28, version 3.8.1* This is a nice app, which does what it promise, once you figure out how to get the data in the right format. It needs a header line as the first line in your data file. it took me a while to figure this out, perhaps debug messages should be on by default. Also all customization needs to be done via the Settings app. Overall good, data looks nice, search is easy. Does exactly that. I have 400 animal records on mine, works like a dream. Not clear. Tried but couldn't access even the test database offered. Then the app crashed! Not a great start. 2 stars because the idea is great and what I need but the app desperately needs an update. Especially for £1.49 !! ### 5/5 — Perfect! *2012-06-14, version 3.6.2* This is an excellent app for consulting and easy reading csv files from databases. For me, it's the perfect partner for iMDb. The app is very easy to use and I didn't find anything like it in the app store. I only had a slight problem with viewing foreign languages but I found the solution on the website : preferences can be changed in the general settings from the iPad/iPhone. Sublime! ### 4/5 — In the latest version now valuable tool *2012-04-15* I bought the software without trying the free edition first - so I can't blame anybody that CSV touch does not match my expectations. Maybe I did not find all features yet, but what I found out so far: It does: - read CSV nicely from a web location (which I prefer against iTunes sync - we have dropbox!) and remembers the location for reread - display the list sorted by the first displayed column with an alphabet on the right for direct positioning - select / deselect / reorder the displayed columns (by going in an explicit edit mode) - can use built-in icons in a column, display images from an URL and touchable links - good detail view with next/previous in the detail level What I miss: - a fixed column width (optionally; it does display all columns with a delimeter, which sometimes is fine, but in other cases it is very hard to find the right line) - selecting the column for sorting by tapping somewhere on the screen (usually a column header) A live filtering was implemented in the meanwhile, which is great! So for me it is now 4 stars. I am sure it fits into somebody's needs anyway! Nach mehrmaligem Probieren mit unseren Daten hatte ich folgende Probleme: - Bei einigen CSV Dateien kommt immer der Fehler "Wrong number of objects in row(s). Problematic row" => Die Datei funktioniert aber einwandfrei in Excel, Numbers und der CSV Dataviewer App! - Beim Rotieren auf dem iPhone bleibt das Userinterface hängen - Unübersichtliche Darstellung der CSV Daten (ohne Zeilen-/Spaltendarstellung) ### 1/5 — Attachments *2010-10-15, version 0* Application does not open Attachment in mail. Tapping on the buttons does nothing and the layout is a joke - the onscreen keyboard pops up over the URL box. I doubt if the coder even has an iPad and is coding 'blind'. Should never have been accepted into the app store. The iPhone version at least works but is completely unfogiving and hard to use. I eventually was able to load files by generating links from DropBox. I export a database with thousands of entries from sql to excel, format it how I like, then export it as CSV, and if I’m out and about and need to look something up, I can using CSV Touch, with lightning speed, saving me from endless tedium trying to do it online. There is good information on the support site for the settings. Detection of urls, email address and phone numbers is terrific. Search is excellent. The different data "views" are well thought out. Support responded quickly to my email for help with the ftp syntax.
