## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rewards unavailable

*2026-06-30*

I recently downloaded it i tske the bus everyday its saying i have points but says its unavailable on the rewards page

**Developer response:** We're sorry this happened. Some times there are no rewards on the last day of the month as we prepare new rewards for the upcoming month. It appears you visited the rewards on June 30th and this happened. Please check again, the rewards section is not empty any more.

### 1/5 — No way to add money

*2026-03-22*

How do you make it even harder to add money for a trip? This app has what seems like everything you don’t need concerning a bus pass.

**Developer response:** I'm very sorry you had a bad experience. The CTrides app does not sell bus passes. We recommend using the Transit app to purchase your bus passes.

### 1/5 — Not helpful

*2024-01-17*

I can’t seem to look up basic schedules.

**Developer response:** Sorry, but the CTrides app does not have a listing of transit schedules. However, if you open the CTrides app, select Find Rides, and enter your origin and destination you will be able to see transit options for your trip. You can then adjust the date and time to see just the right transit routes.

### 2/5 — Slow

*2026-07-16*

The navigation is fine but if I can enter the reward drawing 20 times just let me enter how many tickets I want instead of making me go through the process twenty times. Stop asking if I want notifications, I don’t. I said I don’t. I selected no notifications in the settings- can I be more explicit? No means no.

**Developer response:** We're very sorry about the notification question re-appearing. There was a bug in the code which will be fixed in the next version. We're also sorry that the drawing entry is tedious. We will streamline this in a future release. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

### 2/5 — Very Clunky

*2026-05-04*

Not very intuitive, also logs me out constantly so the auto-record feature does not work properly.

**Developer response:** We're very sorry you're having trouble. We recently updated a few security items that might have caused your problem. If you can, please log out and log in one more time and hopefully this will keep you logged in. If the problem persists, please contact support by selecting More -> Contact us and we'll look into it further. Thank you.

### 2/5 — Requires account

*2026-02-10*

Requiring an account just to preview anything/potential rides or routes is a bit ridiculous. I will not be making an account for no apparent reasoning when I'm not even sure if the service could benefit me (cover my travel needs)!

It acts like you might be able to on the map tab, but when you input starting and ending points it does nothing but mark those two points, with the typical pin used on apple maps or google maps. (They use apple maps, by the way.) No indication of nearby transit options.

I was hoping this app would solve the issue of all the fragmented Public transit websites of trying to figure out the route and transfers available to me to choose from for a commute that would be then dependent on this. It let me down in this regard. I hoped it was a one-stop for finding this out at least. Though that should've easily been a website...

Ui is nice, I guess, though. Or at least what little you could see without logging in, was. 🤦

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review and we're sorry you had a bad experience. You can select the Find Rides tab and search for rides without creating an account. Just indicate the type of ride you're looking for, enter your origin and destination, and your options should appear below. To view transit options, just select the transit icon. An account is only required if you want to connect with other carpoolers or log your trips. If you have other questions please contact our support and we'll do our best to help.

### 2/5 — Rewards could use improvement

*2025-01-28*

Navigating the rewards could use improvement. The most valuable award is the monthly drawing for a $50 gift card, however it’s time consuming to submit multiple entries since you can only redeem 500 pts for 1 “drawing” entry at a time and each drawing requires time to be reviewed before you redeem for another drawing again. A major improvement would be allowing users to batch redeem multiple entries at once.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. The reason drawing entries are one-at-a-time is to make sure other members can get a chance to enter the drawing and that one member does not use all the entries at once. Having said that, your suggestion is a good one and we'll explore ways to make the entry process a bit easier. Thank you.

### 2/5 — Decent

*2022-01-14*

If you have an early commute, it tends to show bus routes that leave the evening before…

Also if you’re looking for a ride, there’s not a very straightforward way of matching you to someone who is willing to give people rides in your general direction.

For carpooling, you’re better off using a private ride share app.

I would love to support the CT Rides program, but it doesn’t support my transportation needs very well apart from telling me to walk on a busy state road to the bus station the night before I have to go to work.

**Developer response:** Sorry for not replying sooner. When searching for a ride, the transit routes default to your current date and time since we don’t know when you want to leave. However, you can select the link in the transit window that says “depart at” and change your desired time to the next morning or any other date and time you like.

### 3/5 — Needs improve

*2025-02-23*

Can you add SEAT CONNECT bus to short the time in New London?

**Developer response:** Thanks for contacting us. Our trip planner does show SEAT CONNECT (a.k.a. HOP/NLSmartRide) as an option when you search for a ride in their service area. However, since SEAT CONNECT is demand-response they do not have a published schedule and you need to contact them to arrange a ride. This is why we link you to their website.

### 3/5 — CTRides App

*2019-05-07*

The app is ok not great. The savings isn’t accurate since it doesn’t factor in the cost of the bus ticket. Also, it should have a way to filter by year so a user can see how many miles they saved each year instead of a grand total. All in all, limited functionality.

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — easy to receive pts for trips

.

### 5/5 — CT Rides App

*2023-03-13*

I used this app every work day to log my bike commutes to & from work. I’ve been using the since 2017. I like to see the #’s of miles & commutes accumulate & to see the impact on the environment. I don’t necessarily ride to benefit the environment…I ride because I love the work! The stats…miles not driven, gas saved, emissions prevented, calories burned, etc are fun to see.

### 5/5 — Great Free Resource

*2018-07-16*

I love this app as the rewards you earn are totally free with no hidden catches, great program.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2018-07-13*

This is really easy to use. I just setup my account and put in my trips. I get some nice deals using my points. I even got 1000 points just for signing up. And I can see the impact I’m having from commuting by transit. Try it.

### 5/5 — Cool app

*2018-07-13*

Neat app..... helped me find a ride to work and the rewards were a nice bonus.
