The UI is non-standard. It’s very easy to mistakenly open app settings when attempting to close or open news stories. Stories come up as cards instead of filling the screen. It’s a stupid experience. What’s wrong with a simple, streamlined news app? ### 2/5 — Not bad *2026-06-20, version 11.1.0* This app is quite annoying when it shows an article has been updated and then I go to view the updated news story but when I open it the update doesn’t show until I pull it down from the top 3 or 4 times which is ridiculous. ### 4/5 — Mostly Great *2026-06-12, version 11.1.0* Generally it’s a great app. I wish I could customize the push notifications a bit more. The recent “improvements” have made this app almost unusable. And now much of the textual content is truncated … unfinished sentences. The way articles open close is problematic. While I enjoy the information from CTV News I cannot use this app as it is. I now read the news using a browser. At least now I can read the entire text and I don’t have articles opening and closing randomly. ### 2/5 — Ads becoming frustrating *2026-05-26, version 11.0.1* I’m getting a little tired of the pop up full screen ads. This was my go to source for news but I will uninstall if they don’t slow down in these ads. There are good alternatives that do not do that. Otherwise I’d probably give it 4-5 stars. ### 2/5 — Glitchy, non-intuitive *2026-05-12, version 11.0.1* Whether using an iPad or an iPhone, the user experience is pretty bad. It’s too easy to miss-tap and open the wrong story or app settings by mistake. The content is fine, but navigating around is a painful exercise. Independent reporting is much more accurate and timely. It’s a chronic issue that I haven’t seen on other news apps. ### 1/5 — Poor performance on my iPhone and it hangs all the time. *2026-03-23, version 10.10.1* I used to have this app on my phone and kept giving it “another chance” but finally deleted it. It was slow and would hang all the time. It used to be an OKAY app until they redesigned it, now I find it useless. If I want to read CTV News I will go to the web. CBC app works much better on my iPhone. ### 1/5 — Nooooooooooo *2026-03-23, version 10.10.1* Updating my review yet again Mar 2026: I didn’t think you could make this any worse. So slow, fuzzy when scrolling, keep having to undo actions due to delayed response. Weird pop up when opening an article (unnecessarily). Fixed the Ontario govt ads popping up all the time to now a nauseatingly way worse user experience. Your dev and QA are mind boggling to me. I’m sorry but I really enjoyed the previous format. I find this white background much harder on the eyes than the prior blue one. Enjoyed the other navigation options as well. Now I have to scroll up to top to use a small arrow to access menu drop down or scroll across in a much smaller top section. The customized tab isn’t really worth it. I end up using the drop down anyway. This was my fav news app so I’ll see how it goes- UPDATE: I HATE this app now: Updating my review to a downgraded 1 star now. It’s easy to accidentally click on video which I don’t want to set off late at night. I hate the customization tab for this reason mainly. Also just found out I can no longer share an article via email w/o signing into social media. No way. I used to do this all the time. I can’t stand this update and have given up. I’m switching to CBC app. I’ll miss what once was 😞 Updating a 3rd time. I tried to settle again with hopes I can go back and tolerate this app. Now blank pages are appearing with no content. I’m not sure what use that is. Please fix these problems. This just seems like a bad method of boosting view counts. Horrible app. The delayed reaction when you try to open or close an article leads to accidentally closing or opening the article potentially multiple times (yes I’m impatient and I guess I’m unreasonable because I expect modern tech reaction times to be quick and seamless). Plus way too many videos with little real content once you get to watch them after the commercials. ### 1/5 — Latest update *2026-07-25, version 11.1.0* Ruined a perfectly good news app with this update. It is gone! It is too glitchy to enjoy I have deleted this app now. Way too glitchy I reloaded the app hoping the developer would have done some work to fix the issues. Yes that’s right, your story of 35 seconds, gets you almost 2 minutes of ads. So if you want to watch 5 news stories, yeps, that’s right, 10 minutes of ads for 2.5 minutes of video. I have deleted the app, and found their website engaging in the exact same method.
