## What is Cuba Offline Guide?

Cuba has no WiFi. This guide doesn't need it.

Every paladar, beach, museum, ATM, hospital, tourist police station, and 24h pharmacy in this app is pinned to a fully offline map. Pull it out anywhere — Habana Vieja, Viñales, the road to Trinidad, a casa particular with no signal — and it works.

— WHAT'S INSIDE —

- 185+ places, each one written about honestly. If a paladar is a tourist trap, the app says so. If the mojito at La Bodeguita is overpriced and you'd do better three blocks away, the app says so.

- Offline maps for the whole island, plus 21 city centers at street-level detail (Habana, Trinidad, Santiago, Viñales, Varadero, Cienfuegos, Camagüey, and more).

- 380+ ETECSA office locations and 40+ emergency points: international tourist clinics, hospitals, tourist police, Cadeca exchanges, 24h pharmacies.

- Currency calculator with the informal-market rate — the rate Cubans actually use, not the fictional Cadeca rate that's 4× worse. $100 USD ≈ 53,000 CUP at the street, 12,000 at the bank.

- 100+ phrases in Spanish with English, Français, Русский, Deutsch, and Italiano translations, plus tap-to-hear audio.

- Cubanismos soundboard — distinctly Cuban slang you won't hear in any other guide: ¿Qué bolá? · Asere · ¡Dale! · ¡Qué bárbaro! · Coger botella · La jaba · ¡Chao, pescao!

- SOS section with offline emergency phrases ("Estoy perdido. ¿Puede mostrarme dónde estamos?") and step-by-step instructions for power cuts, lost passports, medical emergencies, ATM failures, getting scammed, and getting lost.

- GPS locate-me — no servers, no accounts, no tracking.

- Photo gallery sourced from Wikimedia Commons, with credits.

— BUILT BY A CUBAN —

Most travel apps for Cuba are scraped, machine-translated, or written by someone who spent two weeks in Habana and called it research. This one isn't. I'm Pablo. I grew up there. Every editorial description was written for this app, with the bias of someone who's actually been to the place — and where I disagree with conventional travel-blog wisdom, I say so.

— SIX LANGUAGES —

English · Español · Français · Русский · Deutsch · Italiano. Every place description is original prose, not machine-translated. Section headers, phrases, and the entire UI translate properly across all six.

— NO ACCOUNT. NO ADS. NO TRACKING. —

You don't sign in. The app doesn't talk to any server I run. Your location stays on your phone. There are no in-app purchases. There is no advertising. The privacy policy is short for a reason: there's almost nothing to disclose.

— WHO IT'S FOR —

- First-time Cuba travelers who don't want to get scammed or stranded.
- Returning travelers who already know the basics and want honest picks.
- Spanish-speakers, Russian-speakers, French / German / Italian travelers who default to apps that don't bother translating.
- Anyone who's heard "no es fácil" and understood why it matters.

— SOURCES SHOW. OPINIONS ARE MINE. —

Map data and ETECSA offices: OpenStreetMap. Photos: Wikimedia Commons. Currency rates: ElToque. Editorial voice: a Cuban with skin in the game.

If something is wrong or out of date, there's a one-tap "Help us improve" button inside the Tips tab. Opens your email app with diagnostics pre-filled. I read every one.

¿Qué bolá, asere? Dale.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.1 — 2026-07-30

- New: a running total of what you've saved by not overpaying — log a win
each time the price checker catches an inflated quote.
- New: share haggling cards and scam warnings as images, straight into
WhatsApp. Composes offline, sends when you find wifi.
- Map cards resize now — tap the yellow dot to peek, green for full screen.
- Money and service map pins are translated in all six languages.
- Clearer signal that the tab bar scrolls for more.
- Fixed an issue that could reset a Pro unlock.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-21

Cuba Offline Guide just got a big upgrade — and it all works with no signal:

• New rolling navigation dock with quick access to all 11 sections, now with haptic feedback
• Money toolkit: check if you're being overcharged, see fair prices in USD and in live CUP, plan your cash, and track the exchange rate
• Redesigned map — locked to Cuba, richer detail, and a new filter to show only casas, food, Wi-Fi, health, sights, churches or transport
• Thousands of casas particulares now on the map at every zoom level
• Landscape mode, faster language detection, a fresh app icon, and dozens of polish fixes

Traveling soon? Everything works with no signal and no roaming.

### 1.2 — 2026-05-25

¿Qué bolá, asere?

The biggest update yet — with a fresh new look to match.

- Search the whole guide — find any place, phrase, or tip instantly, offline.
- New Trip tab — star the places you love, build your itinerary, and share it with whoever you're traveling with.
- Every ETECSA office in Cuba — 380+ telecom offices, searchable and sorted nearest-first, so tracking down a wifi card stops being a guessing game.
- Help when you need it — clinics mapped across 9 cities, embassy phone numbers, and step-by-step SOS guides.
- Hear it spoken — the casa-booking and SOS phrases now play in a real recorded voice, not text-to-speech.
- A redesigned Photos tab — swipe through full-screen photos of where you're headed.
- More honest local knowledge — tipping and etiquette that won't peg you as a tourist, plus water and health tips city by city.
- Easier to read — larger-text and high-contrast modes for Cuba's bright sun.

Every place still curated by hand. Still works with zero signal.

### 1.1 — 2026-05-18

Hola, asere.

This update replaces the robot voice with my actual Cuban voice across all 25 phrases. Tap any speaker icon and you'll hear me — buenos días, ¿qué bolá?, asere, ¡dale!, no es fácil, and 20 more in my own pronunciation.

Bonus: a 13th Cubanismo — "Háblate, tanque." Plus per-language smarts: switch the app to French, Russian, German, or Italian and "Do you speak X?" plays in that language.

The App Store listing now also reflects all 6 supported languages (English, Spanish, French, Russian, German, Italian) for easier discovery in those regional stores.

Si encuentras algo raro, mándame un correo from "Help us improve" in Tips.
