My Only question is to the designer of the app, I’m using an IPhone 16, and tried to connect an external microphone , but it wouldn’t work with the app, so can you use an external microphone with this app or not ? Balancing my iPhone on top of a longcase clock isn’t best practice, please let me know ### 5/5 — Marvellous *2024-06-28, version 2.8* This app works extremely well, I can’t recommend it enough. I have a French clock which has a really quiet tick but just with the iPhone microphone in the right place I was able to get it spot on level which enables the clock to work as they can be really sensitive to being out even by a very small amount. ### 5/5 — Perfect timing *2024-05-06* This is a very well-made and genuinely useful app. I love how you can add profiles for different clocks that you own, too. I was able to get my over 100 year old Seth Thomas mantle clock ticking within a 0.04% margin of error (which is about 5-7 seconds off per day). If you have vintage clocks, I definitely recommend this app! ### 5/5 — Great App, exactly does what it says *2024-05-02, version 2.8* As a test I went round all my modern battery clocks and the tick consistently on all of them is perfect. I’m trying to diagnose what’s going on with my old mantle clock to try and decide if I can sort out the problem myself. I’m finding my readings are inconsistent and range from around 80% level up to 97% level over about 28 seconds. This cycle repeats over and over. I notice the ticks get quieter when the percentage drops suddenly. I’m wondering if you have ever thought of including a record or logging function so I could post my results to a forum for others to view. They could play my recording back in their copy of the app? Just a thought. Great program just the way it is Well done! ### 5/5 — Excellent but needs some slight changes *2024-03-28, version 2.8* This is a great app for regulating a mechanical clock…not just cuckoo clocks, as the name would suggest! You do need to find out the proper beat frequency of the clock movement you’re trying to regulate (usually 60 BPM for grandfather clocks, but varies widely for other clocks). I have three requests that would make the app perfect for me: —please allow a frequency of 60.000 BPM! I don’t know why the app doesn’t allow this. I use 60.001 BPM for my grandfather clocks, which is close enough, but it’s kind of annoying to have to do so. —you should really repackage/rename this app to be for all mechanical clocks, not just cuckoo clocks. The cuckoo clock animation is cute, but I think more people would purchase the app if it were clear that this can be used for all mechanical clocks —it would be wonderful if the app would save the data once a measurement is completed. Making a slight noise to pick up the phone or to take a screenshot completely disrupts the completed measurement, and it disappears. The regula movements are also supported but only a very few of them. Also the mathematics behind the deviation seems to be buggy sometimes. ### 5/5 — Pretty accurate for setting your clock *2023-04-27, version 2.8* I have a cuckoo clock that is not in the database, a Regula 35, a one day movement. Through trial and error I’ve got it pretty close to about 1min/day. I’m not about to try and count teeth on gears and pinions to calculate the pendulum rate but found I had to get a longer pendulum stick after cleaning and oiling. Don’t know why this was but after trial and error got it pretty close. Was hoping the developer might have a proper reference for that particular movement but here is the reference that I have developed for the Regula 35; BPH 6755.25. BPM 112.587. Period 532.919. I hope the developer will publish a corrected version but if not this is about as close of one that I can get. I hope this helps anyone with that particular movement. A great app and thanks. ### 5/5 — Feature Request *2022-11-09* This app is wonderful! I just upgraded my Grandfather Clock with a new Hermle movement and was not looking forward to spending a week or more calibrating the pendulum. Within a few hours I got this baby down to gain or lose just seconds per day. This tool will be a tremendous time saver to keep my clock running at it’s finest. The biggest problem was getting a good run - the iPhone microphone picks up so much background noise that it is difficult to complete a calibration pass. I had to wait until everyone was in bed before I could get good, reliable readings. Just the dog’s nails clicking on the hardwood floor was enough to trigger an upset. My suggestion (Feature Request) is, once you’ve reached a high level of confidence in the beats measurement, put guard bands around the measured beats. I knew nothing about them, but after some YouTube videos and this app the clock is running again and keeps perfect time! Since it works for any clock, a more universal name would be in order. Tick-Tock Clock Calibration, etc. Perhaps in your database you could include generic timings for common pendulum clocks - 60bpm, 72 bpm, 80bpm, etc. Thanks for a very fine and very practical app! ### 5/5 — Great tool! *2021-11-12, version 2.8* I seldom write reviews but this app deserves praise. This app does everything it says it does. I’ve been using it for 2 years to adjust my Self Winding Clock collection and it does everything I need to do and does it well. There are expensive tools available to do what this app does, but unless your a professional and work on clocks for a living, this is all you need. Easy to use and simply put “A Great app!” I recently acquired a 60 BPM pendulum clock and even though settings have to be ever so slightly above, it worked perfectly especially given the fact that I use tiny 1 gram weights added to the pendulum to achieve the accuracy I’m striving for. While I wasn’t shocked to find 100% 5 Star ratings, I was shocked to find so few people know about this app! So I’m doing my part to let others know about it. Gives instant readings of accuracy instead of just long winded trial and error. It’s important to get the gain and threshold set right plus phone positioning relative to timepieces. The others won’t pick up the noise. Here I can adjust how sensitive it is to each noise manually. It tells you whether it’s levelled or not, beats consistency and it has a nice design overall. Only 2 things that would improve it: 1) Plot the period over a few minutes to see the stability of the escapement 2) Allow reference periods over 1 second, my buco clock has a target period (half swing) of 1125 milliseconds, and a full return to start period of 2250 ms, with 25 pins on the escapement wheel. ### 5/5 — Really useful *2024-11-14, version 2.8* Used app to even out the tick on a church clock.
