## What is Cue?

Cue is a dictation keyboard for people who would rather talk than type.

Add the Cue keyboard once and it works everywhere you can type: Messages, Mail, Notes, Slack, your browser. Tap the microphone key, say what you mean, and tap again when you are done. Cue inserts clean text. The ums and the false starts are gone. The punctuation is already there. It reads like you wrote it carefully, not like a transcript.

HOW IT WORKS
iOS does not give keyboards access to the microphone, so Cue records from its own app. Start a session in Cue, then dictate from the Cue keyboard in any other app while that session is open.

LIVE CONVERSATION
Open Cue and just talk. Ask about your day, think out loud, change your mind mid-sentence and interrupt whenever you want. Cue keeps up.

A DICTIONARY THAT LEARNS YOUR WORDS
Teach Cue the names, products, and jargon it should always get right, so you stop correcting the same word every week.

YOUR HISTORY, ON YOUR PHONE
Every dictation is saved locally so you can recover text you inserted somewhere you cannot get back to. It stays on the device and is never uploaded. Delete any entry permanently.

HONEST ABOUT PRIVACY
Dictation audio is sent to Cue's servers to be transcribed, and it is not stored afterward. Your dictation history and your personal dictionary stay on your iPhone. There is no advertising SDK and no third-party tracking in the app.

Cue is free to start. Paid plans lift the monthly limits.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.6 — 2026-09-08

A shorter, clearer first run. Onboarding is now six full-screen steps, each one a short animation with a headline and a single sentence: welcome, sign in, keyboard, microphone, try it, done. Setup finishes in about a minute.

The feature tour still exists, one swipe at a time, under How Cue works in Settings.

Copy and clarity fixes throughout, including plainer wording in setup about what Cue keeps and what it does not.

### 1.2.5 — 2026-09-07

A new onboarding that walks you through Cue and sets it up as you go, with a short demo of each feature. Replay it any time from Settings.

Keyboard: a rebuilt typing engine with forgiving key targets and key previews, plus fixes for capitalization and switching back from numbers and symbols.

New keyboard layouts: Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, and Polish.

Live conversation: see your words as you say them, with a clear "Working on it" while Cue answers. Fixes for connection errors, and a steadier answer language when set to automatic.

Dictation: cleaner punctuation and capitalization in longer stretches of speech.

Expressive emoji: an optional setting that turns a spoken laugh into an emoji.

### 1.1.6 — 2026-09-04

Live conversation and a steadier keyboard.

Live conversation connects reliably again. Tap to talk with Cue and it answers.

Typing is smoother: quick typing no longer drops or reorders letters, tapping a symbol takes you back to the letters, and the Start Cue key opens the app to begin dictation.

Live conversation now lives in the Cue app rather than the keyboard, where it works better.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-02

Fixes dictation from the Cue keyboard.

In 1.1.0 the keyboard could not start the microphone, so tapping the mic key reported that recording could not start. Dictation runs from the Cue app again: start a session there, then dictate from the keyboard in any app for as long as it runs.

The screen you land on when the keyboard sends you to Cue now tells you whether the microphone actually opened, and how to get straight back to what you were typing.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-02

Dictation now runs inside the keyboard itself. Tap the microphone in any app and talk. There is no session to start first and no trip through the Cue app to get going, and each sentence is transcribed while you keep speaking, so your words land almost as soon as you stop.

Meetings. Record a call on your Mac and the write-up is ready by the time you stand up, in the template you picked, with anything you promised on your list.

A cleanup level that rewrites rather than only tidying. It keeps every fact, name and number you said, and lays the text out as a list when it really is one.

A new look across the app and the keyboard.

Plus a long list of fixes to dictation accuracy, the keyboard's feel, and sign-in.
