## What is CURB?

Your street-cleaning sign says 9–11am. The tickets say 9:14am.

CURB is a free map of San Francisco street-parking rules — and the only one that shows you WHEN tickets actually get written, not just when the sign says you're at risk.

I matched roughly 659,000 SFMTA street-cleaning citations to the blocks where they were issued. The finding: that posted 2-hour window is mostly a 22-minute reality. On a typical block, nearly all tickets land in the same ~22-minute span right after sweeping starts — 87% within the first 45 minutes.

Take 214–255 Steiner St. Posted window: 9–11am. Over two years: 203 tickets, earliest at 9:00am sharp, the median ticket at 9:14am, and 90% already written by 9:39am. The "2 hours" was never real.

WHAT CURB SHOWS YOU
- Every block colored by its next street sweep — see at a glance where it's safe to park
- When tickets actually get written on your block, rebuilt from public SFMTA citation data
- Residential permit (RPP) zones, meters, and color curb
- ~1,975 unmetered white passenger-loading zones (627 of them by schools) pulled straight from the city's own curb map — the ones DataSF leaves out
- Holiday enforcement flags — like SF suspending daytime street-sweeping enforcement on Juneteenth

MOVE-YOUR-CAR ALERTS
- Pick how hard CURB nags you: a single 30-minute heads-up (Light), plus the night before (Normal), or add a morning-of warning too (Intense)
- Choose the voice — warm and funny, drill-sergeant, or deadpan-with-the-receipts
- Native iOS push, plus a one-tap calendar (.ics) sweep event
- No more "I forgot it was Tuesday"

THE SCALE OF IT
- $105 street-cleaning fine in 2026
- 23.8M total parking citations in SF since 2008
- ~1.2M street-cleaning tickets in the last two years alone
- Enforcement is surging where the city is building: Mission Bay +107%, Financial District / South Beach +68% vs. five years ago

A NOTE ON HONESTY
CURB reads the patterns in public data so you don't have to. But the posted physical sign is always the final authority — CURB never overrides it, and neither should you.

Reliability fixes:

- Fixed "locate me" not working on the first try. Tapping the location button now finds you right away — even the very first time you allow location access.
- More reliable sweep-alert setup.

Thanks for the early feedback. The posted sign is always the final authority.
