And to dodge the ticket waiting on your windshield. Pan the map to where you parked, tap Save here, and curbwise sets a notification fifteen minutes before you'd get a ticket. It reads the sweeping schedule and posted time limit for that exact block from the city's open data. No accounts. No login. The core app is free. WHAT YOU GET, FREE • Pin-driven home — pan the map until the centre pin lands on your curb; the card below shows that block's schedule before you commit. • Find a spot — nearby curbs are painted red through green by how long you can park before the next sweep. Green means plenty, red means imminent. • Sweep warning — a notification fifteen minutes before sweeping starts on your block. • Time-limit warning — for posted hourly zones (typically 2 hours, M-F 8am-6pm), a heads-up before the limit's up, with a "Snooze 1 hour". • Residential permit — add your SF permit area and curbwise stops warning you about time limits it exempts you from, and shades the blocks it covers. • Apple Watch app + complication — the next-sweep countdown on your wrist, synced from iPhone. • Home Screen widget — countdown to the next sweep with a small map of your block. • iCloud sync — your history syncs across your devices via your private iCloud account. • Siri — "Hey Siri, I parked in curbwise" to save hands-free. • Walk-back — the distance and walking time back to your car. WHY SF + OAKLAND Because enforcement here is intense, the data is public, and between SF (38,000+ blockfaces) and Oakland there's a lot to track. Other cities are on the roadmap. PRIVACY Your parking history stays on your device and, if you're signed in, syncs through your private iCloud database — never our servers. No analytics, no ads, no third-party tracking. Location is used on-device to look up your block. A plate you enter goes to San Francisco's public citation database to find that car's tickets, and nowhere else. BUILT ON OPEN DATA Sweeping schedules come from data.sfgov.org and Oakland's open data portal, cached on your phone so lookups work offline. RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS (FREE) • Add your SF permit area to a car in Manage. curbwise stops warning you about posted time limits that permit exempts you from, shades the blocks it covers on the map, and names the zone on the card. • The street sign prints the exception the way a real one does — "EXCEPT VEHICLES WITH AREA H PERMITS" — and highlights it when the area is yours. • A block only counts as covered when every limit on it is exempted. One carrying a second, unexempted limit keeps its warning; the app will never imply you can park somewhere you'd be ticketed. PARKING TICKETS (CURBWISE PLUS) • Put a plate on a car and see the citations San Francisco has on record for it — date, violation, location, and each fine as written. Entering the plate is free; the lookup is the paid part. • Optional alerts when the city publishes a new ticket against one of your cars. Off by default. The city's feed runs three to four days behind, so this can tell you that you were ticketed on Tuesday — it can't tell you on Tuesday. SWEEPING • Fixed the worst reading in the app. A spot saved while the sweeper was on the block reported the following week — "Sweep in 6d 23h", with a street cleaner right behind you — and no reminder fired. curbwise now says sweeping is happening now, and when it ends. • Sweep reminders could be cancelled during an iCloud restore. Mid-restore the app couldn't tell an empty database from one still loading, so it dropped pending alerts for cars it wrongly believed were deleted. CARPLAY • Stopped recommending blocks that were being swept. A block mid-sweep sorted to the top of the list and drew green. • Saves landed on the corner of the block rather than where you stopped — a median 47 metres off, which aimed walk-back at the wrong end and looked the time limit up at the intersection. APPLE WATCH • "I moved my car" no longer blanks the complication when another car is still parked with a sweep coming. • A late-arriving update can no longer bring a car you already moved back onto the wrist. SHARING A CAR • Your plate and permit travel to your partner too, so a shared car resolves the same tickets and the same exemptions on both phones. THE MAP • The pin you aim carries the current car's icon, so you can see which car you're about to save for. • A lighter bottom card that no longer walls off the map, and a save card cut from five rows to two. • First launch now explains what the curb colours and the dashed lines mean. • Fixed a crash when the sample alarm fired. ### 1.7.26 — 2026-08-29 Your last sweep reminder can now be a real alarm, the watch shows your block on a map, and a "2 hour limit" warning will stop waking you at 1:45am. REMINDERS • New in Curbwise Plus: turn on "Sound a real alarm" in Manage and your final reminder takes over the screen and rings through the ring/silent switch, like a Clock alarm. A notification is easy to miss in a pocket; a ticket isn't. Earlier heads-ups stay as ordinary notifications. Requires iOS 26. • Hear it before you trust it. "Play a sample alarm" fires the real thing three seconds later, against the block under your pin. • Fixed time-limit warnings firing when nobody could ticket you. A car left overnight on an all-day block could be warned about a "2 hour limit" at 1:45am, and snoozing at 5:45pm on a block that stops at 6pm queued a warning against enforcement that had already ended. Both now stay inside the posted hours. • Fixed reminders piling up. Alerts that had already fired stayed in your notification list when you re-parked, so the tray filled with reminders for blocks your car had left days ago. APPLE WATCH • The watch now shows your block on a map, with the sweep and the posted limit counting down over it — so it answers where the car is as well as how long you have. • New corner complication for Infograph-style faces: the countdown curves around the bezel, tinted by how urgent it is. • The complication stays accurate through the last hour. It had been asking watchOS for so many refreshes that the ones nearest the deadline were the ones getting dropped. • Snooze and Walk to car are gone from the watch. Both were weaker versions of what the phone already does, and the room went to the map. CARPLAY • Fixed an empty spot list. If you plugged in without ever opening curbwise on your phone, CarPlay searched a dataset nothing had loaded and sat on "Looking for nearby blocks…" until you did. It now loads its own data — including Oakland's, which it never had. • When the list really is empty, it now says which of the reasons it is instead of showing one spinner for all of them. THE MAP • Colored curbs fill the screen. The map had been spending most of its drawing budget outside the viewport and running out of curbs before it reached the edges; the same view that used to paint 143 blocks now paints 239. • Tap a curb — or just let the pin rest on one — to see how far that sweeping rule actually runs, traced along the street. ### 1.7.20 — 2026-08-28 Oakland works again, History no longer runs out of memory, and sharing a car finally sends a real invite. OAKLAND • Fixed the big one. Oakland's data server stopped answering at the address curbwise asked, so a fresh Oakland install came up with no schedule at all — and the home screen read that as "curbwise doesn't cover your area yet." Oakland has been covered since 1.5; it just couldn't load. Sweeping data now comes from the same City of Oakland map layer oaklandca.gov points residents to. • When data genuinely can't load, curbwise says so — it names the reason, offers Retry, and tells you plainly that no sweep alerts will fire — instead of blaming your city. • Refreshing a data source in Manage now updates the map immediately instead of waiting for a relaunch, and the refresh itself is about twice as fast. HISTORY • Fixed a crash. Opening History loaded every session you'd ever saved at once, which could push curbwise past iOS's memory limit and get it killed outright. It now loads a page at a time. SHARING A CAR • Fixed the invite link. Picking a contact used to open Messages with a bubble that spun forever — the invite carried no link to send. It does now. • See who a car is shared with, with a Pending badge until they've opened the invite. • Single-car owners can finally see that sharing exists. The whole section used to be hidden from them — exactly the people most likely to want it. • Evened out the spacing under the buttons on the home card, the onboarding sheet, and the Curbwise Plus sheet. ### 1.7.17 — 2026-08-04 Introducing Curbwise Plus.
