## What is Curio?

It rings. A question appears. Answering is the only way to end it.

WHY A QUESTION
For about half an hour after you wake, the deciding part of your brain is barely on. That is why snooze wins: the you who hits it is not the you who set the alarm. A question needs exactly the part that sleep switched off.

WHEN IT RINGS
A question, and a field of answer bubbles. Tap the right one and the alarm stops. Tap a wrong one and it costs you a heart, and the ringing carries on. You can say the answer out loud instead. Tapping is the default and needs no microphone.

NO QUIET WAY OUT
Curio rings through silent mode. Force it off without answering and it comes back. That is the feature.

WHAT IT ASKS
More than 2,000 questions across general knowledge, science, geography, history, movies and music, and vocabulary. Everything is bundled, so no account, no sign-in, and no internet needed to wake up. Answer right and you get a fact worth knowing on the way out the door.

POINTS, NOT STREAKS
Nothing to break. A day off is just a day off.

FREE AND PREMIUM
The free version includes one alarm and General Knowledge. A 7-day free trial unlocks Premium: unlimited alarms, every topic pack, all themes, and your full wake history. We remind you the day before the trial ends, so the renewal is never a surprise.

After that it is $2.99 a month, or $19.99 a year. Cancel any time in your App Store settings. Subscriptions bill to your Apple ID and renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Curio is a consumer alarm clock, not a medical device. Please keep a backup alarm where a missed wake-up would really matter.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-08

CURIO IS FREE NOW
Wake up to a question without paying a thing. Premium adds more alarms and every topic pack.

Bug fixes and improvements.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-07

BETTER FACTS

Every question ends with something worth knowing, and 66 of them were not pulling their weight. "Which wizard is the headmaster in Harry Potter?" used to reward you with "Albus Dumbledore", which is just the answer again. Those are rewritten. Spiders have eight eyes as well as eight legs and still hunt by feeling vibrations. Babies are born with about 300 bones and fuse down to 206. Leaves are green because green is the color plants throw away.

QUIETLY, UNDER THE HOOD

Curio can now correct a question without waiting on an app update. If we get an answer wrong, the fix reaches you in minutes instead of days. It changes nothing you can see, and the app still works completely offline: everything is bundled, and a failed update simply leaves things as they were.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-07

Curio now sounds better, reads better, and tells you more about your own mornings.

NEW ALARM SOUNDS
Seven tones, all rebuilt from scratch: Beacon, Ripple, Ascent, Pulse, Anvil, Tower, and Classic. Classic is the plain triple beep if that is what wakes you.

A CLEANER WAKE SCREEN
Answer bubbles drift and have depth, a wrong tap pops the bubble it lands on, and the screen reddens as the hearts run out. The time picker wheels loop instead of stopping at 12 and 59.

MORE IN WAKE STATS
Open any answered question and you can now see how long it took you, what you scored, and which wrong bubbles you tapped on the way. Answering on the first try is worth more, and now the screen shows it.

REPORT A PROBLEM
Every question now has a report link at the bottom of its Wake Stats page. If an answer looks wrong, or another option was fair too, tell us in one tap. We read them.

A BETTER QUESTION BANK
Every question in the app now ends with a fact worth reading. Along the way we checked the answers and found real mistakes: the Saturn V had five engines and we said eight, Marx did not coin the word bourgeoisie, and Sudan has not been the largest country in Africa since 2011. Those are fixed, and questions we could not verify are gone.

WE ALSO FIXED
Rounds where a second answer on screen was arguably correct too. Swipe back through onboarding. The clock on the home screen now follows your theme.

Anonymous usage stats are on by default and can be switched off in Settings under Privacy. We never send your questions, your answers, or anything you say out loud.
