Curiosity stream kind of thinks that by making some documentaries, it makes people attached . But people get hooked to only micro learning and they seldom pay for documentaries . I suggest you create reels and host them on your platform and each reel shall have an explanation if you swipe right and a documentary recommendation if tapped on the right page. To make an account on this app and it’s been saying “need valid email” like I haven’t typed several different ones in the box. I can’t even open a ticket and ask for help because I don’t have an account. As of right now there’s only one profile so if you use with your family, it’s all shared on one page. Makes it difficult to continue watching what you were watching and your watchlist gets to be too much with more than 1 person. Also on the homepage of the app on the Apple TV, please make it so that it saves your place on the page. For example if you click on a show to find out more info about it, then when you click the back button to go back to the homepage, it jumps you to the top of the page. So you need to scroll back down the page and find where you were before. Very frustrating. But still has great content, would be nice if they added more shows on a more regular basis. ### 2/5 — Casting does not work. *2024-12-30, version 4.1.29* Great content, casting to TV doesn’t work ### 1/5 — Bad experience cancelling *2024-12-30, version 4.1.29* It is very easy to forget subscription services and Curiosity refuses to give money back on an annual subscription after the payment is made. This bad faith policy is exactly why there is a limit to how many thing people subscribe to and to how long they do it for. ### 1/5 — Annoying *2024-12-25, version 4.1.29* Won’t start playing next episode even though I have it set to that. Stops after every episode. Have to manually press play again. ### 1/5 — Scammy practices *2024-12-15, version 4.1.28* You ever find a streaming service that seems perfect? Then discover it's bundled with another that looks decent so why not pay for the two. That was me with Nebula, and I only got this because it was a few dollars more for a full year. No email, no notification, I'm charged $70 for just curiositystream, a service I've still never used, and have my Nebula access revoked! What a lovely thing to wake up to for the holidays- not, I've reached out to support who claim they're fast and will get back to me in 24 hours. They've passed, and no response. Save yourself the headache and money, don't sign up for this service that will overcharge you double what you paid for two whole streaming service the year before. ### 2/5 — Missed the Functionality Mark *2024-12-03, version 4.1.28* I love CuriosityStream, but their apps for Apple are of piss poor design and functionality. At least half of the common functions used in other media streaming apps aren’t in their Apple apps. ### 1/5 — BE CAREFUL. Bad customer service *2024-10-27, version 4.1.27* They do not send notifications for renewal. They automatically charge around $50. When I contacted them to tell them that i did not intend to renew, and i would like to be refunded, they only offered me %30 refund. They bind you by renewals that you might not want, which is not an appropriate way to deal with customers. ### 1/5 — Are the issues resolved *2024-08-29* Dear Curiosity Team, I was about to make the payment and had a second thought of checking on reviews. I was shocked to see so many technical glitches in the app and I went on back foot. To my utter surprise what I observed is none of the complaints are even acknowledged from your end since couple of years. Now I am skeptical about payment . Kindly confirm if all the technical issues are resolved so that I will re-think for subscription plan. I hope you read my review and revert in next couple of decades. 1* is only for App on the basis of reviews and not for Content. And also because seeing 1* you might feel to check on my request and get back on my review. T.I.A ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Buggy App *2026-07-26, version 4.1.40* Subscribed through Apple Pay, but still cannot access any of the content and throws up errors anytime I try to setup the account any further than the plan screen. ### 1/5 — Back from the future *2026-05-10, version 4.1.40* I used to love this app and watched for years most shows of interest. Cancelled it. But got a new offer,so i joined again only to find out that it has become a lousy app. Some videos won’t play unless you play them one after the other like in what’s in the barn. Worse, if you are in full screen,no way out unless you force close the app all together. It has become very unfriendly. Also, no idea how old is some of the stuff. You can’t see dates. I want to encourage them, but they need to get their shneegles up and running. ### 1/5 — WARNING: Cannot cancel subscription *2026-04-14, version 4.1.40* Unethical subscription practices. Once they have your credit card, you are doomed. Cannot cancel online either, even on the very day that the charge appears on your credit card! Their website just sends you into a loop. When I wrote to them about this and said I want to cancel my subscription, they ignored my points entirely, but said they would cut their annual fee in half - but only if I contacted them again to let them know that I want to stay on with them again this year - which presumably means that we would repeat this process again next year. This is an UNETHICAL operation. You have been warned. ### 1/5 — Sleezy tactics *2026-03-09, version 4.1.38* They dont allow you to cancel your subscription with the same amount of ease as signing up for it. They wont even let you stop paying in app. You have to get redirected to some other site. Just not seeing “stop paying” easily in my app settings just felt really manipulative. ### 1/5 — Not family friendly *2025-08-08, version 4.1.33* No profiles for family members. Subtitles and Audio are extremely limited. Usually English only and. You cannot easily unsubscribe from them. No matter what they say, they do make it nearly impossible to stop these charges to your account. They are a nightmare! ### 1/5 — I was interested *2025-04-20, version 4.1.30* I got the app and it was free, I could watch documentaries but a pop up kept saying to….finish signing up to watch more. Once I did that ,it took me to a payment and plan site. I don’t mind at all that they have plans and charge but I do mind that it was not clear in the first place….so as usual another site has my email address and who knows what else. I deleted the app and will set up a spam direction for any emails they send me. ### 1/5 — No way to cancel subscription *2025-04-16, version 4.1.30* I was charged by this app after I stopped my subscription. They make it impossible to cancel the transaction as there is no way in the app to let you clear your billing information. This app survive by stealing money from people. ### 1/5 — Very poor customer service *2025-02-06, version 4.1.30* I have written more than enough emails to multiple customer service centres to complain about a price discrepancy between the marketing emails I had received and the total when I click the link provided in the email. (There have been more than a couple instances over the last few months). I get the run-around answers from Curiosity’s CS team, saying to contact Apple support. And I also get the run-around answers from Apple’s CS team, saying that it is in fact, Curiosity’s issue. Whose issue is it? I would not like for it to be mine any longer. My problem: I get an email from Curiosity, with a 75% off link. I click the link, it takes me to a total of only 50% off. Whose false advertising is this? I call Apple, they say it is Curiosity’s billing problem- and to contact them. I email Curiosity, they get back to me in poor timing, some times to say that the sale is no longer running (during Christmas) and that it is Apple’s billing problem (all 3 times). Please stop wasting my time (and I’m sure others) and fix this or I am just going to give up on this streaming service. Honour the sale of the email (pictures/emails were provided during initial contact) and stop brushing it off to a different company. Curiosity has amazing videos, which are great for expanding the mind. I’m just trying to watch some interesting shows and not get duped. I checked it out got a promo code sponsorship so I got a discount for a whole year and been watching ever since it’s good to know that documentary still have a place on streaming besides YouTube and Netflix ### 5/5 — Love this Great app! *2025-06-23, version 4.1.31* I love this streaming service.
