## What is Curious Life?

Curious Life turns a live measurement into music, light and games you can practise with.

On your phone runs a scientific instrument: a stream of random events drawn from the tiny timing jitter of the device itself, in the lineage of the Princeton PEAR laboratory. Everything in the app is made from it, live. Whether attention can lean on that stream is a century-old question. Here it becomes something you can hear, play, and keep a record of.

NOTES FROM THE FIELD

Music written live by the field. Five soundscapes: an open-air sound garden, Memory's slow water and soft light, a choir in a stone room, plucked strings, and Mosaic, where the instrument's own bits ring a marimba. Every note comes from the measurement; nothing is recorded or looped.

STAR TRIP AND THE EXERCISES

Fly a star across deep space at the altitude of the live reading and catch the golden rings. The Oscillator, Chaos vs Coherence, Synchrony, the Moon, the Orchestra and more: living exercises, all driven by the same measurement.

THE PULSE

Link a Polar chest strap, a watch, or a Muse headband, and your heart and brain join the field: heart rhythm and coherence, the brain's bands, and music played by your own readings. Heart, brain and the random source record together on one clock, through a locked screen. Export everything as open files whenever you like.

THE AMBIENT TAB

Let it play while you live. The Pulse, Notes from the field and Ambient's sixteen night voices, with a dawn alarm that wakes you with your own field. The music keeps playing with the screen locked, and stays honest: it rides the real measurement, or it stays silent.

FREQUENCY TUNING AND THE SUN MEDITATION

A frequency generator with carriers and pulses for grounding, focus and rest, now including the Schumann resonance, the Earth's own 7.83 Hz hum, raised five octaves so you can hear it. And the sun meditation: five minutes at noon, turning to the sun.

YOUR RECORD

Every session builds your personal record, placed against the whole field of practitioners. No account is needed; sign in with your email to carry your record across devices.

NOTHING WATCHES YOU

No microphone, no motion sensors. The camera and photo library are asked for only when you open a picture in Synaesthesia; Bluetooth and Health only when you choose to connect a device. Heart, brain and picture data never leave your phone. It is an instrument and an open experiment: whatever the data shows, it shows.

Curious Life is an experiment and a practice, not a medical device. It makes no health claims, and a sound cannot carry the Earth's field or lock you to it.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.10 — 2026-10-15

The Solar Observatory: the sun as NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory sees it, minutes ago and every day back to 2010, with the space weather reaching Earth, the planets where they really are, and four centuries of sunspots.

A Sun widget for your home screen: the newest image of the sun, the last day to step through, and a week of flares and magnetic storms in one chart. Tap it to open the observatory.

The sun and the Moon on your Apple Watch: the app can keep albums of the current sun and of the Moon in its true phase, for the Photos watch face.

### 1.9 — 2026-10-13

A darker, clearer tab bar.

Mental Music is now Notes from the field, the noon meditation is now the sun meditation, and Frequency Tuning adds the Schumann resonance, the Earth's own hum, raised five octaves so you can hear it.

### 1.8 — 2026-10-11

New tabs: Experiences and Ambient.

Ambient brings the Pulse, Mental Music and Ambient together in one place. The night sky in Ambient is new, with stars and a crescent moon that move with your live reading. Mental Music's card now shows its newest soundscapes, and the Home screen has a quieter devices row.

### 1.7 — 2026-09-15

Built for iOS 27 and the new iPhone Duo: the app fills the folding phone's screens and keeps its controls clear of the island. New on every device: Frequency Tuning - four carriers and four pulses voiced as a bronze bowl, tanpura strings, a choir or a pure tone, with a breathing pacer and a five-minute meditation - and the Synchrony exercise now sounds: rain for the static, a choir for the wave.

### 1.6 — 2026-09-08

Echo: open a picture and hear it. Its grain becomes a bed of sound; cracks, dashes, icicles and skylines are read, lit and played, on your device. Nothing is uploaded. The app now asks for the camera and the photo library only for this.
