## What is Currency Genie?

Currency Genie helps you easily track your flying currencies using a sorted, colour-coded list to display your currency information, and by reminding you when your currencies are coming up for renewal, keeping you both safe and legal when you go flying.

Designed by military aircrew, Currency Genie allows you to quickly add new currencies and update your existing ones. Simply input when you completed the currency and how long it is valid for, and its expiry date is automatically calculated; or for irregular currencies you can manually input the expiry date instead, giving you maximum control. Your currencies list is colour-coded and can be sorted 'expiring soonest', 'completed recently' or 'alphabetically', making it simple for you to prioritise what's important.

Currency Genie also reminds you in advance of your currencies expiring, and again on the expiration date, ensuring you never forget to book that all important simulator trip again. There's no limit to what you can add; from medical and dental assessments, to instrument ratings and airworthiness certifications.

The latest version of this app is a great improvement to an already useful app. 
One slight problem is that having it on my iPad and iPhone, when updating one the other is not automatically updated.

No calculations are done for you just a simple reminder calendar like when your license expires. Flight currencies not included. Add is misleading.

Hi, the latest update coinciding with the new name change has ruined the calendar date selection wheel. I can’t view the day/month/year rotary wheel to make changes. Hope it can be fixed soon.

It’s a brilliant idea just needs one tweak in my opinion! 
If you had an option to allow an update to preserve the expiry date automatically rather than having to scroll through to the end of the month. 
I can see this works for military currency but in the civil world expiries are like MOT’s and preserve the original date plus 1 year.

****Update to clarify suggestion. An option to preserve the day and just update the year by a set amount. Think insurance, if you renew insurance you maintain the day of the month and change the year even if you renew a week early. So a slider option at currency creation so that when you select it then update you will always get the same date + 1 year. An example, when this option is selected 27MAR20 becomes 27MAR21 even when updated on 20MAR20****

Thanks for your feedback, it's really appreciated. Would you be able to clarify exactly what it is you're suggesting, please? The app calculates your expiry date automatically based on a validity period, or you can set it manually. If you choose to set it manually then there's no way the app can reliably 'know' the reasoning behind your choice (i.e. the currency lasts to the end of that month) - so could display incorrect information if it tried to 'guess' how long it is valid for.

### 2/5 — Almost unusable since the new update

I have been using this app for the last 2 years on my iPad mini. It worked brilliantly until the new update. 

The biggest issue I have is setting a currency completion date:
At the moment I can’t retrospectively add a completion date. If I tap on the completion date, an empty box appears. This makes the app unusable for me. Please fix it. 

I also agree with a another reviewer about the icon change. The new one looks amateurish/ childish. I can live with that if you can fix the bug?

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the app. I must admit I hadn't fully tested the new design on iPad as it was only ever intended for iPhone, although that's not an excuse. Great app, very useful and user friendly. One thing that could be added to improve the app would be the ability to add a note when creating/editing a currency. i.e. A reminder of where to book or maybe what to bring with you when completing the currency again.

This app has proven itself very useful, especially when official currencies are kept on a system inaccessible from home or down route. The one thing I would want to add is a list functionality, so that you can sub-divide your currencies.

Thank you for fixing the issue of the dates shifting a day when crossing a time zone. V2.5 is much better. 

Other ideas: Can you create criteria for each currency that should be met to satisfy that entry and being current. The default could be the date as the present app tracks.  Example would be a 90 day landing currency, condition would be 3 take-off and landings in that 90 days for it to remain green. Another example would be 3 precision approaches and 3 non-precision approaches in 6 months to remain IR current for mil pers.

Okay if your required expiry dates run exactly in line with the “expiry” time limit from a given date, but please please please add a function to overwrite expiry dates if required!

(For example; several annual checks run to include the remainder of the month of issue, or can be done up to 3 months in advance without penalty. It is not possible to record this, unless you ‘lie’ to the app and tell it an event will be done in the future (i.e. at the end of the month), but this ruins the validity of the “completed” date)

Please allow manual override of expiry dates.
