Really like the app, easy to use and offers opportunity to enter title and description of project. My project used 3 different wood materials so I entered each as a different project and named them part 1, 2, and 3. Not sure if you can enter different materials in one project. Therefore 4 stars instead of 5. Do recommend the app as it is very useful and well worth the price.

This app is fairly basic, would be nice if it were able to create cuts for different wood thicknesses without having to create a new list for every size. But it’s something and the price is right.

I have used this for several years now. This app does all of the math and space planning in seconds that would take me at least an hour on paper. 

Minor frustrations- sometimes just by changing the description of the cut or the material (long dimension vs short dimension first) I find that the plan creates more or less waste. I have to delete and change the descriptions to find a better, less wasteful plan. 
Related frustration - descriptions can’t be edited; cuts have to be deleted and re-entered. Cuts also cannot be batch deleted but deleted separately. It’s annoying but not a deal breaker. 

I love how easy printing the plans is. I just put the cut plans printout on my clipboard, and we’re off!

With wood prices up this app is essential for reducing waste. Love everything about it. One small issue for me is the area isn’t as smart as it could be. For example swapping dimensions to make a piece fit instead of going to a new board. Not a big deal just something to look out for

Just a few minutes of your time on this App saves you a lot of money and wasted effort as you can plan your cuts with minimal wastage. Great. Interface needs a little updating, would like the ability to increase or decrease quantity of an existing design rather than have to input measurements again and then enter the number of pieces..minor point.

It is pretty straight forward but one you have your layout plan it is very difficult to read the dimensions. And if you print it out it is a very small printout that you can barely read. And it cuts off numbers. I’m trying a different app

Haven’t used this yet, but it looks very useful. Could be better if it would set table saw cut lines ,because you can’t cut corners in the middle of sheet goods with a table saw.

Great app, user friendly! There are minor glitches that make the cut sheet somewhat awkward, but on the whole, this app is well worth your money!

I’ve used different and more expensive software before. For wood working, I typically use multiple sizes of wood to complete a project. There is no way to enter in multiple material sizes under 1 plan. Only cut lengths. If you plan on using different size lumber 2x4, 1x3, 4x4 for example you need to create a different plan for each, which seems counterintuitive to me. I have no problem spending time setting up the available materials and designating under the cuts what material is needed.  It is a simple add to the software that will take it further.  Since it only really does 1 size at a time, I can work that out on paper like other reviewers have stated.

I use it for figuring dimensions and qty of metal to buy for welding projects. Also works well for using up scrap around house on small projects. Would like to set default auto rotate instead of having to remember to change it every time.

Building a small deck, and this is the first cut list app that has actually exceeded my expectations. I’m able to enter the cut lengths I need, then quickly experiment with board lengths for purchase to see how to reduce waste. In general, waste is more costly than incremental cost per lineal foot for longer boards (but not always).

App crashed once when switching grain direction from horizontal to vertical, which didn’t inspire confidence out the gate.

Output to PDF for printing is fantastic!

Haven’t tried panel layout, as I don’t need that yet.

Would be nice to be able to input pricing and/or availability for different material lengths and have that as an optimization input (for example, say 10’ boards are unusually expensive compared to 8’, or perhaps I need materials now, and there are only 2 10’ boards in stock, but plenty of 8’s).

Worth the asking price - I’d buy the developer a cuppa coffee!

When trying to create a pdf for printing I just get a blank page, making it worthless if I can't leave a printed cut list with the timber merchant.
I emailed the developer, but 20 days later still no reply..... VERY POOR SERVICE

I guess this is another app that gets its reviews from a review farm. It’s UI is not well thought out. The algorithm that lays out the cuts is not accurate - it is, in fact, the worst I’ve used. It’s only good feature is the ability to mix metric with imperial.  

If you’re looking for an app to efficiently layout your cuts this ain’t it.

This app was written by someone who has never cut up a sheet of plywood.  The reason?  It does not account for saw blade kerf.  (The app provides a place to enter the saw width dimension, but does not use it in the calculations, which is pointless.)  If you need to make precise cut in sheets of plywood, acknowledging kerf width is critical.  For example, if you need to cut two pieces with widths of 24”, or two pieces with widths of 18” and 30” respectively from a 4’ by 8’ sheet of goods, the app will butt the cuts together across the width of the sheet.  Thus each of your width dimensions will be short by 1/2 the saw blade kerf width.  That is unacceptably sloppy.

I would gladly delete this app for my $5 back. My cut list would be from white melamine sheets so grain direction is irrelevant. Even without entering a blade cut thickness this program had me hacking up a whole sheet when I can get it out of a half sheet. Figuring it out myself also allowed me to line things up better and do less cuts.

Thought that this app would give me a good cutting pattern. It doesn't.
It's simply an area calculator that calculates the least amount of material waste. The cutting pattern in my first project doesn't make sense on the saw.
Would be much more useful if one could move the pieces around to manually create a sensible cutting pattern. It could then simply report the waste factor, which really is all it does now.
Not worth $5. Needs to calculate real world cutting patterns.

If it worked out area cuts then it might be of use but just to work out linear cuts then it' s hardly worth getting the iPad out.

Great app it’s simple to use and I like it a lot. However the print function fails every single time crashing the app.  It should convert the layout into pdf and print accordingly… it used to work and now it simply fails. Please fix it

Works great for my linear cut lengths but I can see not way to enter in the quantity of variable stock lengths that I have on the shelf. It assumes that I will buy the lengths that I have entered should the cut list require more.
App has some use if I am using full lengths but a shopping list to me defeats the object of optimising what I have in stock.

I make signs for a living and find this app useful for its intended use. It saves time when doing several different size cuts to minimize waste. One review said 5th grade math would do the trick. You can do the same calculations on a sheet of paper with the same results however, why waste the paper? It’s not a perfect CAD design program but that’s not what I is intended to be. It’s a simple to use calculator that saves time and resources. I’ve used it from its beginning and through any and all upgrades it is still useful unlike other calculators I’ve used. Keep up the good work.
