## What is Cut the Cake?

Make hosting a piece of cake.

Cut the Cake is for the person throwing the party. Make an invitation that feels like the occasion, watch the replies land, and give everyone a place to come back to for the photographs.

BEFORE
Your photograph, your words, your colors and type. Ask who's coming, who they're bringing and what they'd like to eat, and leave out what you don't need. Send invitations by email or share the link. Guests reply from their phone.

ON THE DAY
The headcount and the meal counts, as they arrive. Seating you can move around and nametags you can print. Check guests in at the door. Run a photo booth on an iPad and put the album on the television.

AFTER
Guests add photographs to a shared album, sign the guestbook and ask for a song. The page stays up the next morning, and long after.

FOR VENUES
If you host tastings, workshops or supper nights at your own place, your team plans around live replies, and guests can choose to hear from you again. We never send a host's guests anything they did not ask for.

*2026-10-03*

In less than five minutes I created a running event with all of the race details, FAQs, and an RSVP for participants. It was a huge timesaver and 1000 times better than my usual email invitation with the back and forth on emails. I highly recommend Cut the Cake!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-07

The host plan can now be bought in the app, and the app picks up updates without being force-quit.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-01

Cut the Cake 1.1 is simpler to set up and adds in-app and email notifications. Every feature has one place, the Features page, and a new event starts with RSVP alone. Check-in at the door is a feature of its own, with or without RSVPs. The date and time sit on one card with a month to pick from, and your cover keeps the frame you set everywhere, invitation emails included. The bell and your email point out a draft that is close to its date, invitations with no answer yet and one that didn't arrive, and answer emails can come once a day. Suggestions fit the kind of event you're planning. Signing in is easier, and nametags, reactions and choosing a song are more reliable.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-18

The app keeps your guest list, seating and headcounts readable with no signal; songs can be added by hand, started from a pack, brought over from a past party or exported; the wifi prints as a card guests scan; photos go to the projector a set at a time; you can remove any one guest from a household; the Guests tab counts each tier against its own limit and shows who has arrived; a new event can start as a copy of an old one; your events search every shelf; nametags save themselves and can include maybes; a countdown ticks on its own card; and venues can frame the photograph their events start from.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-17

Your own event page now says the event's name in the browser tab, and links we email can open the app on your phone.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-14

Start your first event from wherever you signed in; co-hosts get a note when they're added and can start parties of their own; Share sits in the event header; your invitations have their own shelf; and turning on the photo booth turns on Photos, so guests can see its pictures.
