## What is CyberDeck for Companion?

CyberDeck turns your iPhone or iPad into a button surface for Bitfocus Companion. If you run Companion on a Mac or PC to drive OBS, video switchers, lighting consoles, audio mixers, or anything else Companion supports, you can press those buttons from your phone.

Setup takes seconds. No config files. CyberDeck auto-discovers your Companion server using mDNS, or you can enter the host and port manually. The connection persists across launches and reconnects automatically if it drops.

Connection status lives in a rail at the top of the screen: name, address, and live state, with retry and switching one tap away.

What you get free:
- Live button surface that mirrors any Companion page
- Touch presses send to Companion instantly
- Page navigation drives Companion page changes
- The screen stays awake while you're connected (can be turned off)
- PIN pad for locked surfaces
- Diagnostics view with a shareable event log
- Dark, light, and system theme; optional haptic feedback

The Full Version (one-time in-app purchase) unlocks:
- Operator Roles. Build a role, a chosen set of buttons and variables, and publish it to someone on your crew. They run it on DeckHand, the operator app, paired over your local network with a QR code or a 6-character code. They get exactly that surface and nothing else. See who is connected, push updates when the role changes, and revoke access when the show is over.
- Custom Dashboards. Pull the buttons you use most from any Companion pages into one screen. Each cell can be a button or a rotary encoder.
- Multi-connection switching. Configure multiple Companion servers and switch between them with a tap.

DeckHand is a separate app for the operator you hand a role to. It shows only the role you published, nothing else, so anyone on the crew can run their part without touching your Companion setup. Look for DeckHand for CyberDeck on the App Store.

Rotary encoders: touch and hold an encoder cell, then drag vertically to rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. Same gesture on the live surface and inside Custom Dashboards.

V1 owners: you're already grandfathered. The Full Version unlocks automatically the first time you launch v2 on the same Apple ID that bought v1. No re-purchase, no setup.

Support and bug reports: support@cyberdeckapp.com. The Settings > Diagnostics view has a Share button that exports the event log; attach it if you're hitting a connection or subscription issue.

### 1/5 — 업데이트 안하나요?

*2025-11-10*

이 앱은 4.1.4버전에선 작동하지 않습니다

**Developer response:** Sorry for the long silence. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store, fully rewritten. It talks to Companion directly over the network instead of reading the config file, so it works with current Companion versions, including 4.x. Please give it another try.

Jeffrey

### 2/5 — Latest Companion Version 3.1.2

*2025-09-04*

App will not work with a computer running anything newer than Companion 3.1.2.

**Developer response:** Sorry about the silence. You were right, the old version stopped working past Companion 3.1.2. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. The big change is that it no longer reads Companion's config file. Instead, the app talks to Companion directly over the network, so it works with current Companion versions, and future Companion updates shouldn't break it the way 3.2+ did. If it's still not working, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-03-24*

Tried uploading the configuration but that failed. Says it’s connected but it doesn’t show the buttons. I assume it’s a version problem. Documentation is not obvious if it exists.

**Developer response:** You're not wrong, the import flow and the documentation were both real pain points in the old version. Sorry for the trouble. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. The new version doesn't import a config file at all. It talks to Companion directly over the network, so the "connected but no buttons" state should be fixed. If anything is still off, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com and I'll help you sort it out.

### 1/5 — Hello? Anyone there?

*2025-02-22*

Are we going to get any support for new versions? What’s the deal?

**Developer response:** Yes, and sorry for going silent on you. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store, a full rewrite. It talks to Companion directly over the network instead of reading the config file, so it works with current Companion versions and shouldn't get tripped up by future Companion changes either.

Jeffrey

### 2/5 — Not working

*2025-02-04*

I’m having no luck getting this to work. App shows as connected but. No buttons show up

**Developer response:** Following up on my 2024 reply, sorry it took this long. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store. It no longer relies on importing the config file at all. The app talks to Companion directly over the network, so the "connected but no buttons" state you ran into should be fixed. If you try v2.0 and anything still isn't working, please don't hesitate to reach out.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with current companion

*2025-01-05*

Don’t purchase if you’re using any companion 3.2 or higher. This app needs to be removed.

**Developer response:** You were right about the old version, sorry it stayed broken for so long. It read Companion's config file, and that broke every time Companion changed its format. CyberDeck v2.0 was just released on the App Store, and it talks to Companion directly over the network instead. So it works with current Companion versions, and it shouldn't break the next time Companion updates. If you give v2.0 a try and anything is still off, please email support@cyberdeckapp.com.

### 5/5 — Cool app

*2024-02-13*

Works great, easy to upload current companion config file. Looks just like what you see on the streamdeck.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2024-02-07*

This app seems to be broken. After connecting to companion it doesn’t show any of the button’s I have set up.

**Developer response:** Did you import your configuration file from Companion into the app? The buttons will not appear unless you do that first. Also, the latest version of Companion (3.2.1) doesn't work and you'll need to export your configuration file from version 3.1.2. I am currently working on an update to support the latest version but it's not finished yet.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3 — 2026-08-06

2.3 adds Operator Roles and pairing with DeckHand, the new operator app.

- Operator Roles (Full Version). Build a role in CyberDeck, a chosen set of buttons and variables, and publish it to someone running DeckHand on their iPad. They get exactly that surface and nothing else.
- Pairing over your local network. Hand off a role by QR code or a 6-character code. No accounts, no cloud.
- Manage paired operators from the role. See who is connected, push updates when the role changes, and revoke access when the show is over.
- First-launch guide. A short walkthrough on first open points out the status rail, saved connections, and where the Full Version features live.
- Confirmed against Companion 5. CyberDeck works with Bitfocus Companion 5.0 with no changes. The supported floor stays Companion 4.3.
- The pairing QR no longer clips when the device is held sideways.
- Clearer dashboard editor advice when Companion's Button Subscriptions API is off: it now points at the setting to turn on, not a Companion update.

Pairing needs both apps on this version. If you use DeckHand, update it at the same time so the two can pair.

### 2.2 — 2026-07-07

2.2 redesigns how CyberDeck shows and manages your connection.

- Connection status moved from the bottom bar to a rail at the top of the screen: name, address, and live state always visible. A one-time callout points you to its new home after the update.
- No more dead ends. Every connection failure now offers a next step: retry, edit the connection, or switch to another.
- The screen stays awake while connected, so the surface doesn't go dark mid-show. Settings > Keep Screen Awake turns it off.
- Dark is now the default theme. Light and System are still in Settings > Theme.
- Sharper button images on iPad.
- Restore Purchases now finds v1 grandfathered unlocks more reliably.
- Connection editor cleanup: setup goes straight to the editor, and the port field moved behind Advanced (the default almost always works).

### 2.1 — 2026-05-21

Now runs on iOS 17 — previously required iOS 18.
Fixed a rare ghost cell that could appear when opening the editor on a connected dashboard.
Tapping outside the expanded connection pill now closes it, so you can't accidentally trigger a Companion button under it during a show.

### 2.0 — 2026-05-12

New since v1:
- No config files. CyberDeck auto-discovers your Companion via mDNS, or you can enter host and port manually.
- Custom Dashboards (Full Version). Pull buttons from any Companion page into one screen, configurable per-cell as button or encoder.

- Multi-connection switching (Full Version). Configure multiple Companion servers and switch with a tap.
- Rotary encoder gestures. Touch and hold a cell, then drag vertically to rotate.
- ConnectionPill bottom nav for connections and dashboards.
- Light, dark, and system theme. Optional haptic feedback.
- Diagnostics view with shareable event log.
- Refined visual chrome: Mosaic launch screen, softer light mode.

Polished through months of TestFlight beta. Bug reports welcome at support@cyberdeckapp.com
