CycleTimer2 is a free app that runs on iPads and iPhones and is particularly useful for spin class teachers. It displays playlists, tracks, a music player, and your own custom exercise drills that are easily read from a stationary bike when your iPad or iPhone is over on the stereo stack. The large time display counts down from the track's maximum duration to zero. On an iPad, CycleTimer2 runs in landscape orientation. On an iPhone, CycleTimer2 runs in portrait orientation. The app presents the playlists from the Apple device's music library. Choose a playlist and the app shows the tracks within that playlist. Each track has a time, in blue, showing the remaining minutes and seconds in the playlist, counting this track. Choose a track and the app shows the music player. Beneath the countdown timer there is a large area where you can create, edit, and save exercise drill notes. The Spin instructor has an excellent aid at the song-level, with space for txt to detail the song’s spin activity and monitor the elapsed time of BOTH the song and playlist. The latter is important for tracking the spin session’s set time limit. In addition, at the playlist level, the instructor can easily view the playlist elapsed time. This is critical when constructing the playlist duration to fit the Spin session. These additional features make Cycle Music Timer 2 an outstanding tool for Spin Instructors! Thank you Stewart for keeping this app improving. ### 5/5 — Great Spin Class Instructor Tool! *2026-02-23* Really appreciate this tool, especially after Schwinn dropped its own Spin app support. Great replacement for an Instructor who has a well established set of Apple Music Library playlists that are automatically connected to this app. Would recommend the following: 1. On the playlist ‘page’ have the cumulative playlist time start with the first song (as opposed to the last song) - it is easier to determine the number of songs to fit in a 50 min Spin session that way. 2. On the Song page add a second timer for Playlist elapsed time - this makes it easy to track time progress in case you are running too long in your session.
