Cyclo Planner is a bike GPS: turn-by-turn guidance worked out for a bicycle rather than a car — and, when you have no idea where to go, loops it finds for you.
Give it a starting point and a distance, or a duration, and it proposes several circuits that come back to where they began. Compare them, pick one, set off: the guidance calls every turn out loud, the speedometer shows your speed, and the ride records itself.
GUIDANCE, WORKED OUT FOR A BICYCLE
• Spoken turn by turn: the turn called two hundred metres ahead and again at the turn, a buzz as it comes, the next one already waiting on screen
• It speaks over your music rather than stopping it, and is heard with the ringer off
• Roads made for cycling: cycle paths, quiet roads, trails — traffic is avoided or accepted according to your settings, never forced on you
• Round speedometer, with the speed limit where it is known
• Automatic zoom, from your speed and how closely the turns come: tight in town, wide on an open road
• Off route, the way back to the line is recalculated on real roads, not as the crow flies
• Automatic pause when you stop, moving again as soon as you do
• Live heart rate, read from Health (Apple Watch or compatible earbuds)
• The ride in progress on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island
• Offline map: download the area before you leave and it still draws without a signal
WHEN THE RIDE IS OVER
• Summary: distance, moving time, average, maximum, climbing
• Filed in Apple Health as a cycling workout, route included (optional)
• GPX export to your bike computer or another app
ROUTES, WHEN YOU HAVEN'T GOT ONE
• Several proposals per search, each scored against what you asked for — one figure, and the reasons behind it a tap away
• Aim for a distance — miles or kilometers, as your region uses — or a time in the saddle
• Press and hold the map to send the route through a particular place: it is recomputed on the spot
• Reverse the direction of travel in one tap
• Point to point as well: the cycling route between two addresses
MATCHED TO YOUR BIKE
• Bike type: road, trail or mixed
• Electric assist, with assistance level
• Traffic, from avoided to accepted
• Climbing, from avoided to actively sought
• Terrain difficulty: calm, balanced or complex, weighed against your bike
• Surroundings: prefer or require nature
ON THE MAP
• CyclOSM, IGN, OpenStreetMap, Apple Maps light, Apple Maps dark and Satellite backgrounds
• Elevation profile: touch the curve, the matching point appears on the map
• What you will actually ride, measured along the line: cycleway, quiet road, busy road, path
• Distance, elevation gain, estimated time and calories
KEEP AND SHARE
• Automatic history and favorites
• GPX import: your own tracks join your favorites, figures recomputed, and they navigate like any other
Describe your ride in a sentence — "from Annecy to Albertville through Faverges, quiet roads" — and the form fills itself in, the places in it included, on devices that support Apple Intelligence. Or ask Siri: "Generate a loop with Cyclo Planner."
